<a href="https://www.wm.edu/as/english/facultystaff/tsai_a.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Addie Tsai</a> is an Assistant Teaching Professor of English in the Arts &amp; Sciences department at the College of William and Mary. His “Areas of Specialization” include “Dance Studies,” “Masculinities Studies,” “Black Studies, “Gender Studies” and “Queer Studies.”
After the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack against Israel, Tsai was featured in <a href="https://www.campusreform.org/article/while-universities-refuse-to-fire-anti-semites-the-private-sector-holds-them-accountable/24277" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Campus Reform</a> after adding his signature to <a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1oU0LTAsKiGOMxfXnKcxpw-GJV6w5uiMP/view?usp=sharing" target="_blank" rel="noopener">an open statement</a> that said:
“We are writers who unequivocally stand with Palestine and its fight for liberation against the illegal occupation of Israel and the violent settler colonial apartheid state. We strongly condemn the response of [W]estern media and political actors at all levels of government in their dissemination of misinformation and propaganda, intended to manufacture consent for the genocide of Palestinian people.”
The statement goes on to say:
“Islamophobic, genocidal, anti-Arab and anti-Palestinian rhetoric are all rooted in the languages we use. It is our responsibility to lay bare how language has been used to obscure and preserve the ongoing settler colonial project outside Gaza…”
The signatories&#8217; list of political declarations includes:
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">“The resistance is an ongoing response to a long history of ethnic cleansing of Palestinians” and </li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">“Politicians at all levels of government internationally, primarily those in the [W]est, are deliberately weaponizing islamophobia and orientalist language in order to manufacture consent for genocide in Palestine.” </li>

<a href="https://www.wm.edu/sites/dhp/faculty/ciccariello-maher-george.php">Dr. George Ciccariello-Maher</a> is a Visiting Scholar of Decolonizing Humanities and Modern Languages and Literatures at the College of William and Mary. He previously taught in the Department of History and Politics at Drexel University.

From the College of William and Mary's website, his work at the Decolonizing Humanities Project is <a href="https://www.wm.edu/sites/dhp/decoloniality/index.php">described</a> as exploring, “how colonization, modernity, capitalism, and, most recently, neoliberalism has displaced an array of modes of living, thinking and being.  Decoloniality reveals “the dark side of modernity” and how it is built “on the backs” of “others.”

Ciccarello first came to notoriety for his racially inflammatory statements on twitter. On Christmas of 2016, he <a href="https://www.inquirer.com/philly/news/Drexel-officials-Professor-George-Ciccariello-Mahers-White-Genocide-tweet-was-utterly-reprehensible.html">tweeted</a> out,

“All I want for Christmas is White Genocide,”

and,

“To clarify: when the whites were massacred during the Haitian Revolution, that was a  good thing indeed.”

He also tweeted out,

“Some guy gave up his first-class seat for a uniformed soldier. People are thanking him. I’m trying not to vomit or yell about Mosul.”

When Ciccariello was confronted by <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ndkvgmGIQHQ">Tucker Carlson</a> over his tweets, he only proceeded to double-down. In the following exchange, he defended the academic veracity of his tweets by claiming, “performance art is scholarship.”

Ciccariello doesn’t shy away from utilizing violence to accomplish his radical beliefs. In an op-ed for <a href="https://www.salon.com/2015/05/04/riots_work_wolf_blitzer_and_the_washington_post_completely_missed_the_real_lesson_from_baltimore/">Salon</a>, he praised the riots that had engulfed Baltimore in 2015 in an article titled “Riots Work.” He wrote, “without the threat of insurgency in the streets, no charges would ever have been brought in the murder of Freddie Gray.” Obviously not a proponent of police, Ciccariello openly <a href="https://www.salon.com/2015/04/24/we_must_disband_the_police_body_cameras_arent_enough_only_radical_change_will_stop_cops_who_kill/">advocates</a> for the abolishment of police forces, describing them as, “originally slavecatchers.”

When not calling for the disbandment of our law enforcement, Ciccariello is an ardent defender of the socialist regime in Venezuela. He regularly <a href="https://www.counterpunch.org/2013/04/12/thatcher-is-dead-long-live-chavez/">praises</a> Hugo Chavez and has bizarrely <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nhYz1owM-uA&amp;feature=youtu.be">claimed</a> that Venezuela does not have corrupt elections.

Ciccariello doesn’t shy away from violent groups as well. In order to fight white-nationalism, Ciccarello called on Americans to embrace the radical group ANTIFA in an interview with <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WTv_hqjrmi8&amp;feature=youtu.be">Democracy Now</a> following the El Paso mass shooting. Although committed by a stated white nationalist, in the same interview Ciccariello placed the blame on Donald Trump for the deaths, claiming that his rhetoric on immigrants inspired the shooter’s rampage.  Ciccariello made similar accusations in a prior <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WTv_hqjrmi8&amp;feature=youtu.be">interview</a> about the Texas Church Massacre, alluding that “whiteness” and Trump’s stoking of white victimhood was to blame for the murders.

<a href="https://www.wm.edu/sites/confuciusinstitute/aboutwmci/index.php">Jennifer Stevenson</a> is a member of the Faculty Advisory Committee of the Confucius Institute in addition to serving as the Associate Dean for Graduate Programs, the Director of the American Legal System Graduate Program, and a Professor of the Practice of Law at the College of William and Mary.

<a href="https://www.wm.edu/as/americanstudies/graduate/graddirectory/smoot_k.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kelsey Smoot</a> is a PH.D. Candidate in American Studies at the College of William &amp; Mary in Virginia.

In June 2020, Smoot penned an article for <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2020/jun/29/white-people-ally-black-people-sacrifice" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Guardian</a> titled, “White people say they want to be an ally to Black people. But are they ready for sacrifice?” In the piece, she argues that white Americans are unwilling to change any of their behaviors or attitudes in a way that would benefit black people. 

The piece was written in the midst of nationwide riots following George Floyd's death. While acknowledging that many of her white friends reached out to offer money and protect her “energy and emotional labor,” Smoot still accuses whites of silence, and therefore compliance, regarding white supremacy: 
“Unfortunately, good deeds will not dismantle systemic oppression. White kindness was unable to spare the lives of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, nor any of the countless other victims of White supremacy in our nation’s history.”
If whites wanted to perform true anti-racist work, Smoot argues, they should be willing to sacrifice future pay raises and close friendships for people of color: 
“Real allyship enacted by White Americans, with a clear objective to make equitable the lived experiences of individuals across racial lines, means a willingness to lose things….Refusing a pay raise at one’s job and insisting that it be reallocated to co-workers of color who are undoubtedly being underpaid. The loss of potentially every close relationship with other White friends and family members who refuse to acknowledge or amend their behaviors that reinforce systemic oppression.”
Smoot concludes that white people will never be willing to sacrifice their privilege, so all she can do is “prepare for another day of navigating White America.”

In another article written from that summer, Smoot <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2020/jul/04/juneteenth-not-the-fourth-of-july-was-the-real-independence-day">announces that she will no longer celebrate the Fourth of July</a>, as it represents an “exclusionary nationalist narrative.” Smoot writes that in adulthood, the idea of the holiday became “untenable” once she learned of America’s oppressive history:
“But as I moved into adulthood, learned the expansive and ongoing history of American imperialism, experienced blatant racism, homophobia, and transphobia, and internalized that my ancestors were held in bondage and considered chattel far beyond the date and year that I was supposed to consider the demarcation of American “freedom”, the idea of celebrating the holiday became untenable.”
Smoot further writes that she cannot celebrate America’s birth as she may be martyred in its current climate:
“In this current climate, as a Black American who is also queer and trans* identified, there is not a day that goes by when I don’t feel fear….I fear that my name might become a hashtag – my death made a viral internet sensation by onlookers recording my final breaths, as my life is taken by someone who swore to serve and protect me.” 
Smoot—<a href="https://queerinsomniac.me/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">who identifies as a “Black, queer, trans-masculine, and non-binary writer</a>”—has even shunned close family members and friends who incorrectly used her pronouns (they-them). In an article written for <a href="https://www.huffpost.com/entry/misgendering-they-them-pronouns-nonbinary_n_6269a65de4b01131b11e407e">HuffPost</a>, Smoot states that she is becoming increasingly intolerant of anyone mistakenly misgendering him, claiming that refusing to do so nullifies her identity. Acknowledging that she will lose the people closest to him, Smoot concludes this is still the proper course of action as “trans and nonbinary people are worth the effort.”

According to her biography, Smoot's research interests encompass “queer studies, race/racism, cultural studies, and social movements.” Smoot further blogs and writes poetry on her personal site, <a href="https://queerinsomniac.me/blog" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Queer Insomniac’s Musings</a>.

<a href="https://www.wm.edu/sites/dhp/faculty/sheehi-s.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Stephen Sheehi</a> is the Sultan Qaboos Eminent Professor of Middle East Studies at the College of William &amp; Mary. Dr. Sheehi also serves as the Faculty Director of the “Decolonizing Humanities Project.”

Although his position falls under the Humanities Department, the <a href="https://www.wm.edu/sites/dhp/index.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">official site for the project</a> states the field should not have to justify its “economic or practical values in higher education.” Rather, Sheehi argues that humanities are used for “tooling” students to participate in “irredeemable,” racist systems that perpetuate inequality: 

“The Decolonizing Humanities Project understands that the Humanities are structured by and complicit with the legacies of racism, sexism, patriarchy, settler-colonialism and colonialism.” 

Sheehi then accuses America of being built on land stolen from Native Americans.  The university, he claims, likewise continues to benefit from the labor of “kidnapped and enslaved Africans:”

“Decolonizing Humanities Project seeks to dismantle forms of settler-colonialism and racism, with special attention to anti-black and anti-indigenous racism, and how they continue to structure our lives in the university, Virginia, and the settler-colonial state now known as the United States.“

Sheehi states that higher education further perpetuates racial capitalism in the “settler colonial state known as the United States.” He vows to dismantle settler colonialism and capitalism through a process known as “decoloniality.” 

Under the tab, “<a href="https://www.wm.edu/sites/dhp/decoloniality/index.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">What is Decoloniality?</a>” Sheehi defines it as the study of the “matrix” of power and oppression created by colonialism. He then claims that colonialism’s effects can still be felt today as modern society was “built on the backs of others.” 

Decoloniality reveals "the dark side of modernity" and how it is built "on the backs" of "others," others that modernity racializes, erases, and/or objectifies. 

Continuing:

“(Decolonialism is) a way to explore colonization, settler-colonialism, racial capitalism (particularly as it grew out, in full racializing force,  with the enslavement of black Africans), modernity, and, most recently, neoliberalism and necrocapitalism and the ways in which they have displaced an array of modes of living, thinking and being in our natural world.”

Dr. Sheehi concludes by calling for the disruption of “settler-colonial logic” and decentering of “hetero-cisnormativity, gender hierarchies, and racial privilege.” 

The web page further lists a myriad of radical groups under the “<a href="https://www.wm.edu/sites/dhp/resources/index.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Resources</a>” column. One of them—titled, “DecolonizeThisPlace,”—is a violent, Antifa-aligned organization that is led by professor <a href="https://www.professorwatchlist.org/professor/aminhusain" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Amin Hussein</a>. A 2020 riot by the group resulted in 13 arrests and $100,000 in damages.

A former faculty member of the prestigious Dalton Prep School in the Upper East Side, Fonte resigned following outrage after hosting a “porn literacy” class for high school juniors at the nearby Columbia Prep Academy.

The seminar—titled, “Pornography Literacy: An Intersectional Focus on Mainstream Porn,” slides of which were obtained by the <a href="https://nypost.com/2021/05/22/columbia-prep-students-parents-reel-from-porn-literacy-class/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">New York Post</a>—included topics such as “three big male vulnerabilities,” “the orgasm gap,” and, “what is porn and what is art.”

Fonte’s presentation included the most searched pornographic terms of 2019, which reportedly included “gangbang,” “anal,” and, “stepmom.” She further detailed various porn genres to students, including, “incest-themed,” “barely legal,” and “kink and BDSM.”

One slide featured an adult film star promoting her content via Only Fans. The subscription-based site is a popular platform for pornographic content and videos. 
As the Director of Health and Wellness at Dalton Prep, Fonte <a href="https://nypost.com/2021/05/29/dalton-parents-enraged-over-masturbation-videos-for-1st-graders/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">led graphic sex-ed classes</a> for students as young as first grade. The curriculum reportedly included lessons on masturbation and self-pleasure, consent, and gender identity.   
Soon after The New York Post published the lessons, <a href="https://townhall.com/tipsheet/landonmion/2021/06/13/teacher-resigns-after-showing-first-graders-cartoon-detailing-masturbation-n2590912" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Fonte announced she would be leaving</a> Dalton Prep to pursue a career as an “independent health educator.” In an email to Dalton&#8217;s parents announcing the resignation, the school still praised her work and defended the curriculum: 
“Throughout her tenure at Dalton, Justin Ang Fonte has helped to develop an exemplary K-12 Health and Wellness Program. Dalton—our faculty, staff, administration, and trustees—continue to stand firmly behind this program and those who teach it.”  
<a href="https://www.justinefonte.com/presentations" target="_blank" rel="noopener">According to her personal site</a>, Fonte continues to lecture on topics regarding gender and sexuality around the country. During a <a href="https://www.theblaze.com/shows/the-news-why-it-matters/justine-ang-fonte-porn-schools" target="_blank" rel="noopener">recent interview</a>, she advocated incorporating pornography into a sex-ed curriculum, stating that “porn can be good if sex-ed is good.” 
Pushing back against the notion that pornography is unhealthy, Fonte claims that porn is one of the “beautiful ways” that people may “explore their emotions and bodies.“ Addressing children and students who watch porn, Fontes states her aim is to make them “consumers who are literate.”

The seminar—titled, “Pornography Literacy: An Intersectional Focus on Mainstream Porn,” slides of which were obtained by the <a href="https://nypost.com/2021/05/22/columbia-prep-students-parents-reel-from-porn-literacy-class/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">New York Post</a>—included topics such as “three big male vulnerabilities,” “the orgasm gap,” and, “what is porn and what is art.”

Fonte’s presentation included the most searched pornographic terms of 2019, which reportedly included “gangbang,” “anal,” and, “stepmom.” She further detailed various porn genres to students, including, “incest-themed,” “barely legal,” and “kink and BDSM.”

One slide featured an adult film star promoting her content via Only Fans. The subscription-based site is a popular platform for pornographic content and videos. 

As the Director of Health and Wellness at Dalton Prep, Fonte <a href="https://nypost.com/2021/05/29/dalton-parents-enraged-over-masturbation-videos-for-1st-graders/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">led graphic sex-ed classes</a> for students as young as first grade. The curriculum reportedly included lessons on masturbation and self-pleasure, consent, and gender identity.   

Soon after The New York Post published the lessons, <a href="https://townhall.com/tipsheet/landonmion/2021/06/13/teacher-resigns-after-showing-first-graders-cartoon-detailing-masturbation-n2590912" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Fonte announced she would be leaving</a> Dalton Prep to pursue a career as an “independent health educator.” In an email to Dalton's parents announcing the resignation, the school still praised her work and defended the curriculum: 

“Throughout her tenure at Dalton, Justin Ang Fonte has helped to develop an exemplary K-12 Health and Wellness Program. Dalton—our faculty, staff, administration, and trustees—continue to stand firmly behind this program and those who teach it.”  

<a href="https://www.justinefonte.com/presentations" target="_blank" rel="noopener">According to her personal site</a>, Fonte continues to lecture on topics regarding gender and sexuality around the country. During a <a href="https://www.theblaze.com/shows/the-news-why-it-matters/justine-ang-fonte-porn-schools" target="_blank" rel="noopener">recent interview</a>, she advocated incorporating pornography into a sex-ed curriculum, stating that “porn can be good if sex-ed is good.” 

Pushing back against the notion that pornography is unhealthy, Fonte claims that porn is one of the “beautiful ways” that people may “explore their emotions and bodies.“ Addressing children and students who watch porn, Fontes states her aim is to make them “consumers who are literate.”

Addressing students in a Zoom-call call following the January riots in the Nation&#8217;s Capitol, Siddon describes the rioters as “insurrectionists” that have been fed “conspiracy theories” by right-wing outlets like Fox News. Siddons then condemns President Trump&#8217;s cabinet members as “cowards” for refusing to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove President Trump from office. Under the <a href="https://constitutioncenter.org/interactive-constitution/blog/can-the-cabinet-remove-a-president-using-the-25th-amendment">25th Amendment</a>, the sitting Vice-President and the Cabinet may vote to remove a sitting President from Office if “the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office.”
Siddons then denies ANTIFA&#8217;s existence to his students stating that they are “not even a real group.” Answering a student who asks whether Trump will try to blame ANTIFA for the riot, he tells his students that Trump and “all the right-wing news organizations” will still try to shift the blame to ANTIFA.

<a href="https://www.temple.edu/about/faculty-staff/sara-goldrick-rab-tug64840">Dr. Sara Goldrick-Rab</a>, a Professor of Policy, Organizational, and Leadership Studies at Temple University, took to Twitter to compare Republican governor Scott Walker to Hitler. Her tweet said “My grandfather, a psychologist, just walked me through the similarities between Walker and Hitler. There are so many- it’s terrifying”. According to Campus Reform, the tweets followed a contentious battle over budgets and policy changes for the University of Wisconsin system.

On the day after the death of O.J. Simpson, Hill posted a YouTube <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zgKqiBCGIL0" target="_blank" rel="noopener">stream</a> titled, “O.J. Simpson is DEAD!!! Do NOT Make Him A Hero or a Martyr.” In the stream, Hill repeatedly asserts that Simpson is a “monster” and not a figure worth celebrating for the black community. He <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/04/12/opinion/left-is-still-defending-oj-because-race-is-more-important-to-them-than-justice/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">maintains Simpson was guilty</a> of the crimes he committed even though his "acquittal was the 'correct and necessary result of a racist criminal legal system.'"

This stream came after Hill posted his initial reaction to Simpson’s death, according to <a href="https://thepostmillennial.com/cuny-professor-marc-lamont-hill-says-cold-blooded-killer-oj-simpsons-acquittal-was-correct-and-necessary-to-fight-racism" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Post Millennial</a>:

Before addressing those crimes, Hill condemned Simpson for his lifestyle choices, which, he claims, were very much a dismissal and abandonment of the black community and culture: 
“O.J. Simpson is not a person who is our kind. O.J. Simpson became famous, moved to L.A. …  and created a social network that was filled with white people. He created a white reality.”
Hill stated that the white Ford Bronco that Al Cowlings (Simpson’s friend) and Simpson attempted to escape the police with was not the first time Simpson used a white vehicle to “escape a black reality.” Hill stated that Simpson “wanted no parts of the black community.”

Hill alleges that L.A. Detective Mark Fuhrman—who investigated the crime scene at Simpson’s house in the aftermath of the murders of Nicole Brown, Simpson’s ex-wife, and her friend Ron Goldman—is solely to blame for the acquittal of Simpson. 
“O.J. Simpson should not have been found guilty because there was a police officer [Fuhrman], a racist police officer … who at the end of the day lied about using the n-word. He had a history of racist acts. Mark Fuhrman is the reason why O.J. Simpson spent the next few decades as a free man living in a white world. I’m not saying that O.J. Simpson should’ve gone to prison. I’m saying that O.J. Simpson was guilty of the crime.” 
Hill claims the Simpson case in 1994 and its outcome was a referendum on the allegedly racist U.S. justice system. He says Simpson was found innocent due to “reasonable doubt because of a racist cop.” However, he defends Johnnie Cochrane, Simpson’s attorney during that trial, and claims he and Simpson are two different species. Cochrane was a civil rights leader who fought the “racist” system by using O.J.’s case, according to Hill. 

Towards the end of the stream, Hill asserts the following.
“O.J. is a reminder that the world is racist, that the system is racist, that the cops are racist …  O.J. forced y’all to deal with white supremacy [and] structural racism.”
Of the response to Simpson’s death, Hill claims it will be celebratory for white people in the fashion of certain responses to the deaths of dictators or terrorists:
 “White people will act like it’s the fall of Sadaam Hussein.”

<a href="https://education.temple.edu/about/faculty-staff/marc-lamont-hill-marchill">Marc Lamont Hill</a> is a Professor of Media Studies and Production and of Policy, Organizational, and Leadership Studies at Temple University.

In 2018, Marc Lamont Hill was <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2018/11/29/media/marc-lamont-hill-cnn/index.html">fired</a> by CNN for his anti-Israel remarks. Speaking before the UN, Hill called for a "free Palestine from the river to the sea, " which are sentiments widely understood as a call for the elimination of the state of Israel and replacement with an Arab state from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea.

Hill was previously under fire for his relationship with the open anti-Semite and Nation of Islam leader, Louis Farrakhan. He has repeatedly <a href="https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2018/dec/18/marc-lamont-hill-stands-brother-farrakhan-we-shoul/">refused</a> to condemn Farrakhan, stating, 

“Minister <a href="https://www.washingtontimes.com/topics/louis-farrakhan/">Farrakhan</a> is my brother. The idea that we have to renounce him, denounce him, throw him away … in the black tradition, I ain’t got the luxury of throwing people who love us away. I ain’t got the luxury of taking people who come out of traditions that have saved us and cleaned us and throw them away. We can’t do that. We shouldn’t do that.”

<a href="https://law.temple.edu/contact/rachel-rebouche/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Rachel Rebouché</a> is the Dean of Temple University Beasley School of Law, the James E. Beasley Professor of Law, and a Faculty Fellow at Temple’s Center for Public Health Law Research. According to her university biography, Rebouché is a leading scholar in reproductive health law and family law.

Rebouché co-authored an opinion piece for The New York Times titled, <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2022/06/23/opinion/abortion-pills-online-roe-v-wade.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“Abortion Pills Will Change a Post-Roe World.”</a> The article praises abortion pills, claiming that “people who live in anti-abortion states and can’t travel will still be able to obtain safe abortions, often without the direct involvement of a medical provider and within the privacy of their homes.”

However, according to a report put together by Live Action and the Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the <a href="https://www.liveaction.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/ExecSummary.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">abortion pill poses a four-times higher risk of complication</a> than surgical abortion in the first trimester. Since the FDA approved the pills, there have been 24 reported maternal deaths and over 4,000 reports of adverse events including hemorrhage, excruciating abdominal pain, and severe life-threatening infections.

Rebouché and her co-authors ignore these statistics and claim, with the fall of Roe v. Wade, the “anti-abortion movement is likely to continue to deploy another longstanding tactic: deceiving people.” They say crisis pregnancy centers “often imply that they provide abortions when their mission is actually to block people from getting abortions.”
“Expect anti-abortion activists to set up websites pretending to sell abortion pills or even selling fake abortion pills.” 
Lastly, Rebouché et al. advocate for social media companies and search companies like Google to treat abortion pill misinformation like Covid-19 misinformation. They write:
“These companies created policies that have tried to de-emphasize, remove or add disclaimers to Covid-19 misinformation. Given the immense complexity of the post-Roe legal and abortion access landscape, companies could enact similar policies governing abortion misinformation and websites that aim to deceive and entrap pregnant people.”

<a href="https://liberalarts.temple.edu/about/faculty-staff/timothy-welbeck" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Timothy Welbeck</a> is an Assistant Professor of Instruction in the Department of Africology and African American Studies and Director of the Center for Anti-Racism, both at Temple University. According to his university profile, Welbeck’s research includes “contemporary issues of racial identity in America [and] the intersection of racial classifications and the law in the American context.”

At the <a href="https://news.temple.edu/news/2022-11-30/temple-university-s-center-anti-racism-holds-grand-opening" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Center’s grand opening ceremony</a> in November 2022, Welbeck said the goal is to be a “hub of collaboration across the university as we seek to create scholarship that will shape the course of the discourse and help us better understand what racism is, how it reveals itself and how we can better fight against it.”

Welbeck further discussed his vision for the center in an interview with <a href="https://news.temple.edu/news/2021-10-05/unravelling-systemic-oppression-through-scholarship-advocacy-and-education" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Temple Now</a>. He said the Center “will examine the ways racism finds its way into systems and structures, like housing, the criminal justice system, healthcare, environmental concerns, city planning, etc.” He continues, “We’ll begin targeting our efforts and focus on various issues within the U.S. and specifically the North Philadelphia community.”

Welbeck has been outspoken about his <a href="https://news.temple.edu/news/2022-06-15/temple-experts-remain-committed-anti-racism-work-ahead-juneteenth-2022" target="_blank" rel="noopener">support for critical race theory</a>, accusing those who are against it of trying to “keep productive conversations about race out of American classrooms.” He stated:
“It’s a very coordinated, deliberate campaign that’s funded and organized around trying to disarm any type of assessment of racial inequity in the United States, which is why if you look at some of the legislation from the 26 states that said to have banned critical race theory, they’re not actually banning critical race theory, but they’re banning terms like diversity, equity and inclusion.” 
After the U.S. Supreme Court overturned affirmative action in June 2023, Welbeck participated in a panel discussion about the impact of the Court’s decision. Welbeck told <a href="https://www.axios.com/local/philadelphia/2023/06/30/affirmative-action-supreme-court-meaning-philadlephia" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Axios</a> that students of color are not on an equal playing field with their white counterparts and “Schools cannot consider trying to undo centuries of harm and racialized segregation.” Welbeck is quoted in a <a href="https://news.temple.edu/2023-07-19/temple-experts-weigh-supreme-court-s-affirmative-action-decision" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Temple Now</a> article, saying:
“Historically, Black people were denied entry into every form of society like housing, medicine and education. They have racial impacts and disparities linked to this broader history that should be considered.” 
“We need the ability to target the centuries of exclusion of Black people in America and to not be afraid to talk about the actual problem itself. There was unique harm targeted at specific racial groups, so we need specific remedies to address it and to give them time to work.”

<a href="https://liberalarts.temple.edu/academics/faculty/fogg-davis-heath" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Heath Fogg Davis</a> is a Professor of Political Science at Temple University. 

According to Davis’ <a href="https://heathfoggdavis.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">website</a>, the professor studies “discrimination and identity formation with the goal of puzzling out their complicated workings, while also highlighting the many organizations and individuals fighting for a better, more equitable world.”

Aside from teaching, Davis works “with companies and organizations to help them imagine, design, and achieve their diversity and inclusion goals.”

In a 2017 <a href="https://www.powells.com/post/original-essays/do-we-need-gender" target="_blank" rel="noopener">article</a> for Powell’s City of Books titled “Do We Need Gender,” Davis writes about the subject of gender and its relevance to contemporary society.

In the article, Davis criticizes the “belief” that sex is determined by genitalia:  
“Many people still believe that sex is determined by genitalia. Girls have vaginas, and boys have penises … Most people who are born with penises and identified as male at birth go on to identify as boys and then men. And most people who are born with vaginas and identified as female at birth go on to identify as girls and then as women.”
He claims this belief can lead to transgender discrimination:
“This variation has repercussions for how we detect and fight transgender discrimination. Some people who identify as ‘trans’ experience transgender discrimination because others perceive them to have altered, or be in the process of changing their birth sex designation, or because they have disclosed such as transition. Some people who identify as trans do not experience transgender discrimination because they appear to others to be gender conforming. To further complicate matters, some people who do not identify as trans experience transgender discrimination because others perceive them as trans and/or gender non-conforming.” 
In another 2017 <a href="https://genderpolicyreport.umn.edu/why-testosterone-ranges-should-replace-sex-segregation-in-title-ix-sports/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">article</a> titled “Why Testosterone Ranges Should Replace Sex-Segregation in Title IX Sports,” Davis argues in favor of athletes performing in sports based on their amount of testosterone rather than their biological gender. 
“[W]e can say that certain sex-related physiological features, such as muscle mass, lung capacity, and aggression, are relevant to ‘fair play.’ These mutable characteristics are affected by the amount of functional testosterone in an athlete’s body, not by the presence or absence of genitalia.”
He admits this change would not be easy and would result in certain social consequences:
“If we were to replace sex-segregation with testosterone levels in Title IX sports, we would, of course, not be making a trivial change. Part of the sense of ‘losing tradition’ is tied up with losing the social aspect of gender-based affinity that is considered formative to young athletes: girls and boys and women and men working together toward common goals and competing to achieve them”
Yet, Davis concludes the article by subtly expressing his favor for this form of collegiate athletics in light of other moves the NCAA has made:
“Replacing male and female competitive sports with hormone levels seems, on its face, radical, but the NCAA and other elite sports organizations have already begun rewriting the rules in favor of fair play.”

<a href="https://liberalarts.temple.edu/about/faculty-staff/jennifer-pollitt" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Jennifer Pollitt</a> is an Assistant Professor and the Assistant Director of Gender, Sexuality and Women’s Studies at Temple University. Her expertise includes “Sexuality and Gender Studies,” “Sexuality Education,” and “LGBTQIA Civil Rights.” She also organizes #MeToo conferences for academic and professional attendees. 

In May 2023, Pollitt was featured in a <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/temple-university-has-a-porn-studies-class-2023-5" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Business Insider article</a> titled “Temple University now offers porn-studies course. In the class, students talk about things they ‘don’t even discuss with their closest friends.’” Pollitt told the Insider that her course “kept having a longer wait list” of students who were interested in the topic. She ultimately concluded that people “really want to talk about [sex].” 

The Insider wrote:

“[Pollitt] said her goal in creating the course was to use digital pornography as a jumping-off point to talk about race, ability, and the patriarchy. Pollitt added that she wanted to teach students how to get away with binary thinking: viewing porn as simply right versus wrong, good versus bad.”

Pollitt also said the discussion in her course venture into “racialized porn,” “disability porn,” and “trans porn.” However, in the past, she told <a href="https://19thnews.org/2023/07/porn-studies-temple-university-professor-jennifer-pollitt/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">19th News</a> that her course would not include watching pornographic movies and “[u]npacking the stigma about porn and sexuality is one of her goals as an educator.”

The university publication <a href="https://news.temple.edu/news/2023-09-14/what-you-need-know-watching-marvels" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Temple Now</a> included Pollitt’s comments on a film called The Marvel, which features an all-female main cast. Pollitt was asked to share her thoughts on Nia DaCosta (a black woman) who directed the movie. Pollitt was quoted saying:

In the article, Pollitt also took offense to the phrase “going all-female,” declaring that the film “challenges” views on women as superheroes and “reinforces that women are just as strong, brave, capable and resilient as men.” Apparently, Pollitt is unfamiliar with historic female heroines and lead characters such as Catwoman (1940), Wonder Woman (1941), Batwoman (1956), The Bionic Woman (1976), and Elasti-Girl/Woman (DC Comics, 1963; Disney, 2004).

When asked by <a href="https://19thnews.org/2023/07/porn-studies-temple-university-professor-jennifer-pollitt/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">19th News</a> about the purpose of her salacious class, Pollitt admitted that “porn studies” hasn’t been taken seriously in the past because the topic “was considered smut and a waste of time.” Considering the innumerable marriages and <a href="https://extension.usu.edu/relationships/research/effects-of-pornography-on-relationships" target="_blank" rel="noopener">relationships destroyed by pornography</a>—as well as <a href="https://www.theasservoproject.org/pornography-and-human-trafficking/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the industry’s proven ties</a> to adult and child sex trafficking—Pollitt is doing a disservice to the education community at Temple University, if not the entire realm of academics.

In 2024, Brunello authored a <a href="https://scholar.eckerd.edu/esploro/outputs/conferencePaper/The-Damage-Done-Right-Wing-Erosion-of/992776826206111?institution=01ECKERD_INST#file-0" target="_blank" rel="noopener">paper</a> called “The Damage Done: Right-Wing Erosion of Legitimacy from Reagan to Trump in America.” Within the context of his discussion on dictators, fascism, and authoritarianism, Brunello says:
“Tyrants break confidence in democracy by constantly attacking government as wasteful, incompetent, and illegitimate. In that way, the tyrant can effectively claim that, since all politicians and government are corrupt, then the strongman is free to act with brazen ferocity in dismantling institutions and laws in populist outrage and mobocracy…
“There are many would-be extreme rightwing movements and leaders dotted around the world all utilizing some version of the methodology. In the United States, the conservative movement slowly evolved in this direction…In the 21st Century, the Tea Party Movement (2008) was transformed into MAGA (2016) (Make America Great Again) under Donald Trump.”
In the paper, Brunello also discussed the <a href="https://immigrationforum.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Replacement-Theory-Explainer-1122.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Great Replacement Theory</a> in the context of America, stating that it “refers to a plot to welcome immigrants, especially among non-white, non-Christian people, to replace the political power and culture of [w]hite people in Western countries.” He declared that since “true believers” are afraid of immigrants replacing white people the theory is “antisemitic, xenophobic, racist and nativist.”

At a UCLA lecture, she equated support for Israel with <a href="https://www.campusreform.org/?ID=13849">white supremacy</a>, and reportedly asked Jewish Israel supporters to distance themselves from “white supremacy.”

Your Record May Not Be the Problem</a>.” The article was published by the <a href="https://www.chronicle.com/article/promotion-rejected-your-record-may-not-be-the-problem" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Chronicle of Higher Education</a>, also known as “The Chronicle.” Madera and his co-authors elaborate on a study of fairness and bias in tenure and promotion which “suggests that some candidates are spurned for reasons beyond their control.” The study, “<a href="https://uh.edu/class/psychology/promotionandtenurestudy/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Fairness and Bias in Promotion and Tenure</a>,” is being conducted through the University of Houston with multiple educators and faculty members, including Madera. The website’s mission statement is to “Determine structural barriers around promotion and tenure limiting the advancement of minority faculty and ultimately the inclusion of all demographic groups in Science.”

<a href="https://www.uh.edu/class/ccs/people/nicholas-de-genova/">Dr. Nicholas De Genova</a> is a professor and the Chair of the Department of Comparative Cultural Studies at the University of Houston. His university biography describes him as a scholar of migration, borders, citizenship, labor, critical race, postcolonial, and ethnic studies. Dr. De Genova is an ardent advocate for abolishing national borders and has called for the death of American soldiers.

In an interview for the <a href="https://lnu.se/en/research/searchresearch/linnaeus-university-centre-for-concurrences-in-colonial-and-postcolonial-studies/">Centre for Concurrences in Colonial and Postcolonial Studies</a>, Dr. De Genova <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkF0I1Z9eGo">describes his work in postcolonial studies</a> as taking the free movement of people across borders as a “natural element of the human condition." At one point in the interview, Dr. De Genova implies that national borders should be abolished.

Continuing, Dr. De Genova states that <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkF0I1Z9eGo">national borders are the most violent divisions that humanity has constructed</a>.

Throughout his work, Dr. De Genova claims that borders are used to elicit racial strife. In a piece written for the Journal of the American Anthropological Association, Dr. De Genova alleges there are <a href="http://www.americananthropologist.org/2020/03/23/everything-is-permitted-trump-white-supremacy-fascism/">parallels between Trump’s policies on the US-Mexico border and a “brutal and bellicose racial nativism” of conservative support for restrictive immigration policies. </a>

In the same paper, Dr. De Genova describes conservatives as fascists who are fomenting a racial civil war against people of color and illegal immigrants through the enforcement of immigration laws. He states:

“We must interrogate the synergies between, on the one hand, the variety of ways that Trump’s supporters are induced to endorse or emulate this brutal and bellicose racial nativism and, on the other hand, the outright cruelty and sadism, of the Trump administration’s border-enforcement tactics and the racist violence that they have institutionalized.” 

Dr. De Genova describes the United States as a nation that embodies white nationalism. Quoting author Wahneema Lubiano, Dr. De Genova states that <a href="http://www.americananthropologist.org/2020/03/23/everything-is-permitted-trump-white-supremacy-fascism/">American history has always “been some form” of white nationalism</a>.

<a href="https://www.columbiaspectator.com/2003/03/31/letters-editorprofessor-qualifies-quotation-article-and-addresses-criticism/">In an open letter published by The Columbia Spectator,</a> Dr. De Genova described the United States as an emblem of white nationalism. Alleging the formation of the United States constituted racism and imperialism, Dr. De Genova called on Americans to “repudiate all forms of patriotism.”

The letter is a response to the public outcry to his teach-in at Columbia University, where Dr. De Genova called for “<a href="https://nypost.com/2003/03/31/prof-pilloried-columbia-community-condemns-words-of-hate/">a million Mogadishus” to be inflicted against American troops in Iraq</a>.

The professor is referring to the Black Hawk Down incident that occurred in Somalia during the <a href="https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/ambush/etc/cron.html">Battle of Mogadishu in 1993</a>,  where 18 American soldiers were killed and over 70 were wounded. Pictures later emerged of <a href="https://www.smithsonianmag.com/history/legacy-black-hawk-down-180971000/">the bodies of the servicemen being dragged through the streets</a> by Somalian militia groups. The demoralizing aftermath is considered to have contributed to the decision of then-President Bill Clinton to withdraw America’s humanitarian mission from the country.

In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Dr. De Genova serves as the chair of the Special Committee on Race and Social Justice at the University of Houston. <a href="https://uh.edu/class/about-us/race-and-social-justice-committee/">According to the university’s official website</a>, the committee organizes events to educate students about topics such as the “racial formation of modern capitalism, mass incarceration, racism in academia, and the “racial underpinnings for contemporary immigration policy and border policing.” according to the University’s official site.

<a href="https://uh.edu/nsm/math/people/Instructional%20Faculty/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">James Andrew Chang</a> is listed as a Lecturer in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Houston. In October 2023, Chang was <a href="https://www.khou.com/article/news/crime/university-of-houston-professor-arrested-on-child-porn-charges-sources-say/285-81cfcacc-67b7-4f49-91a1-bf58b52730f7">arrested and charged</a> with five counts of possessing child pornography. 

<a href="https://www.fox26houston.com/news/university-of-houston-lecturer-faces-child-pornography-charges" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Fox 26 Houston reported</a>, “According to court documents Chung possessed digital images of young girls and boys under 18 engaging in sexual acts.”

Fox 26 also published a brief statement from the university:
“The University of Houston is aware of the charges filed against James Chang and his employment…has been suspended. Any further questions should be directed to the Houston Police Department or Harris County District Attorney’s Office.”
<a href="https://www.houstonpublicmedia.org/articles/news/criminal-justice/2023/10/12/466446/university-of-houston-lecturer-arrested-charged-with-possession-of-child-pornography/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Houston Public Media said</a>, “Chang was in possession of videos of children between eight and 13 engaging in sexual conduct…a judge set his bond at $500,000 [and Chang] cannot reside or go within 1,000 feet of areas where children gather.”

<a href="https://www.prescott.edu/faculty-staff-directory/craig-willse">Craig Willse</a> is an associate faculty member of Social Environmental Arts Practice and Social Justice and Community Organizing at Prescott College in Arizona. Craig led faculty and administrators at George Mason University in protesting the renaming of its law school after Antonin Scalia and regularly engages in Anti-Israel protests.

Censorship 
In 2016, following an <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2016/04/05/politics/george-mason-university-antonin-scalia-law-school-name-change">announcement</a> from George Mason University that they would be renaming their law school after the recently deceased Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, Willse, who <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/george-mason-university-professors-oppose-naming-law-school-after-antonin-n552501">according</a> to NBC, was then a cultural studies professor at  George Mason, led the protests by George Mason faculty and administration to oppose the decision. <a href="https://www.britannica.com/biography/Antonin-Scalia">Scalia </a>had served on the Supreme Court 30 years and was known for his  “originalism,” or interpretation of the United States Constitution as Scalia believes our founding fathers had intended.

As part of the protest, Willse <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/george-mason-university-professors-oppose-naming-law-school-after-antonin-n552501">authors</a> a letter protesting the university’s decision. The <a href="https://nojusticeforgmu.wordpress.com/">letter</a>, which appears on the site, “No Justice for GMU,” details Willse’s opposition to Scalia. He “denounces'' the renaming of the law school after Scalia and describes the university’s decision as an “affront” to those targeted by Scalia’s, “racism, sexism, and homophobia.” Willie specifically <a href="https://nojusticeforgmu.wordpress.com/who-was-scalia/">accuses</a> Scalia’s “constitutional originalism” of being “widely criticized” by historians and scholars, citing left-leaning publications such as Mother Jones, ThinkProgress, and The Huffington Post in doing so.

The same letter accuses Scalia of causing “direct harms” to GMU students, including “students of color, women, and LGBT students.”

The protest was ultimately unsuccessful and the law school was officially <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/grade-point/wp/2016/05/17/its-official-george-masons-law-school-is-named-in-honor-of-antonin-scalia/">renamed</a> the Antonin Scalia Law School later that year.

Antisemitic 
Willse accuses Israel of being responsible for police brutality and racist profiling in the United States. In an article for the site, “Deadly Exchange” Willse <a href="https://deadlyexchange.org/building-safety-through-solidarity-an-interview-with-dean-spade-craig-willse/">states</a> that policing is a project of colonial and racial control.

<a href="https://deadlyexchange.org/">Deadly Exchange</a> is a campaign by the anti-Israel group, <a href="https://jewishvoiceforpeace.org/">Jewish Voice for Peace</a>. The campaign intends to end any collaboration between US and Israeli police forces. According to the official site for “Deadly Exchange,” security cooperation with Israel promotes “racial profiling, massive spying and surveillance, deportation and detention, and attacks on human rights defenders.”

In the same <a href="https://deadlyexchange.org/building-safety-through-solidarity-an-interview-with-dean-spade-craig-willse/">article</a>, Willse compares policing with slave patrols in the Jim Crow-era and therefore says policing “fundamentally anti-black.” He states that police cannot be reformed, and his long-term goal is to abolish police and prisons.

As <a href="https://canarymission.org/professor/Craig_Willse">documented</a> by the site, <a href="https://canarymission.org/">Canary Mission</a>, Willse holds other anti-Israel stances and takes part in protests accusing Israel of being an “apartheid state.” In an article for the site Truthout, Willse <a href="https://truthout.org/articles/us-and-israeli-police-are-sharing-violent-and-repressive-tactics/">describes</a> Israel and the US “as the world's most racist, repressive and violent police and military forces.”

In the video below, Willse can be seen <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1e6jULCCh3Y&amp;ab_channel=AriWohlfeiler">disrupting</a> a pro-Israel parade in New York. As <a href="https://forward.com/scribe/373862/jvp-targeted-queer-jewish-youth-at-israel-parade/">reported</a> by The Forward, members of the New York Police Department stated that Willse and 4 others “targeted”  the parade on behalf of Jewish Voice for Peace and were arrested for disorderly conduct.

<a href="https://www.otis.edu/faculty/patrisse-cullors">Patrisse Cullors</a> is a Lecturer at the Otis College of Art and Design and served as the faculty director of Prescott College's MFA degree (Social and Environmental Arts Practice) in Prescott, Arizona. A seasoned organizer, Cullors is one of the co-founders of the <a href="https://blacklivesmatter.com/">Black Lives Matter</a> (BLM) movement and <a href="https://nypost.com/2021/05/27/black-lives-matter-co-founder-patrisse-cullors-resigns-amid-controversy/">served as executive director until resigning in 2021</a>. Along with its parent organization, the <a href="https://m4bl.org/">Movement for Black Lives</a>, the BLM is dedicated to the abolition of police, direct action to combat what Patrisse deems as systematic racism, and has maintained an active presence in the nationwide riots that followed the death of George Floyd.

BLM was <a href="https://blacklivesmatter.com/six-years-strong/">founded following the death</a> of Treyvon Martin and the trial of George Zimmerman for his murder. After a jury acquitted Zimmerman of the murder in 2013, Cullors (who refers to Zimmerman as “white-passing” even though he is Hispanic), joined with <a href="https://aliciagarza.com/">Alicia Garza</a> and <a href="https://www.opaltometi.org/">Opal Tometi</a> to form an organization, <a href="https://blacklivesmatter.com/about/">as stated on its website</a>.

“....whose mission is to eradicate white supremacy and build local power to intervene in violence inflicted on black communities by the state and vigilantes.”

BLM came to further prominence following the <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/gunshots-looting-after-grand-jury-in-ferguson-case-does-not-indict-officer-in-michael-brown-shooting">riots in Ferguson, Missouri</a> in reaction to the acquittal of police officer Darren Wilson in the shooting of <a href="https://www.latimes.com/nation/nationnow/la-nn-na-watch-video-michael-brown-robbery-20140815-story.html">robbery-suspect</a> Michael Brown. Although later determined that Brown had attacked the officer, <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/hands-up-dont-shoot-makes-wapos-list-of-outlandish-claims">BLM was instrumental in spreading the lie</a> that Brown was shot at point-blank range with his hands raised.

Although purporting to be a civil-rights organization dedicated to fighting police brutality and white supremacy around the world, Cullors, BLM, and the Movement for Black Lives advocate for positions championed by radical leftists. BLM advocates for the abolishment of prisons, defunding the police, dismantling the nuclear family, cutting off aid to Israel (which they label a racist state), are inspired by the Black Panther Party and other prominent Marxists, and encourages rioting and looting, all the while receiving millions of dollars through organizations connected to the Democratic party.

BLM and its affiliates have been inspired by a litany of figures from the radical Left. Cullors herself has boasted of being <a href="https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2020/06/24/black-lives-matter-founder-mentored-by-ex-domestic-terrorist-who-worked-with-bill-ayers/">mentored by Communist Eric Mann</a> of the Labor/Community Strategy Center. Mann was also a member of Students for a Democratic Society, which was founded by domestic terrorist, <a href="https://www.professorwatchlist.org/professor/williamayers">Bill Ayers</a>. In an interview from 2015, Cullors herself stated that she and her co-founders are “<a href="https://youtu.be/Zp-RswgpjD8?t=337">trained Marxists</a>.”

 “...we actually do have an ideological frame. Myself and Alicia, in particular, are trained organizers. We are trained Marxists.”

On the podcast <a href="https://youtu.be/0tOm0rOgGUE?t=1726">The People’s Party</a> with antisemitic rapper <a href="https://www.israellycool.com/2016/03/27/rapper-talib-kweli-greene-goes-on-an-antisemitic-rampage-on-twitter/">Talib Kweli</a>,  Cullors described how the <a href="https://www.marxists.org/history/usa/workers/black-panthers/1966/10/15.htm">Black Panther Party’s 10-Point Program</a> inspired BLM’s guiding principles. <a href="http://web.stanford.edu/~ccarson/articles/am_left.htm">The Panthers</a> were a Marxist-Leninist organization, co-led by Huey Newton, whose involvement is <a href="https://www.salon.com/1999/12/13/betty/">suspected in multiple murders</a> allegedly committed by the Panthers. Cullors has also spoken of her affinity for and <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BiAUYJXv2Yo&amp;ab_channel=NewYorkTimesEvents">appeared at events </a>with <a href="https://www.nationalreview.com/2019/01/opposing-honors-for-angela-davis-isnt-racist/">Angela Davis</a> (who wrote the forward to Cullor’s book, <a href="https://www.amazon.com/When-They-Call-You-Terrorist/dp/1250171083">When They Call You a Terrorist)</a>. Davis, who frequently toured and vocally defended the Soviet Union, is an open Marxist and former Communist Party candidate for President, whose firearms were used in a courtroom shoot-out in 1970 that left 4 dead.

Cullors and the Movement for Black Lives have routinely condemned the nation of Israel. In their policy platform, the Movement for Black Lives <a href="https://m4bl.org/policy-platforms/invest-divest/">describes Israel as a genocidal, apartheid state</a>;

“....approximately 3 billion dollars in US aid is allocated to Israel, a state that practices systematic discrimination and has maintained a military occupation of Palestine for decades.”

“The US justifies and advances its global war on terror via its alliance with Israel and is complicit in the genocide taking place against the Palestinian People...it makes US citizens complicit in the abuses committed by the Israeli government. Israel is an apartheid state with over 50 laws on the books that sanction discrimination against the Palestinian people.” 

“Every day, Palestinians are forced to walk through military checkpoints along the US-funded apartheid wall.”  

Cullors has made her anti-Israel stances a focal point in her activism. <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1AZXNypWKbE&amp;t=1050s&amp;ab_channel=AlJazeeraEnglish=38m28s">She has bragged</a> about how one of BLM’s first delegations was sent to Israel, in which Cullors used the trip to <a href="https://www.ebony.com/news/dream-defenders-black-lives-matter-ferguson-reps-take-historic-trip-to-palestine/">degenerate Israel as an apartheid state</a>. She claimed,

“This is an apartheid state. We can’t deny that and if we do deny it we are part of the Zionist violence.”

<a href="https://youtu.be/mQ8z-gGMSIY?t=4183">Speaking at the US Campaign for Palestinian rights</a>, she accused Israeli’s of “Jewish supremacism” and oppressing “black folks in Palestine.”

“Zionists have used anti-Semitic rhetoric to uphold Jewish supremacism and the illegal state of Israel.”

One of the most striking aspects of BLM’s platform is the call to <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/media/black-lives-matter-disrupt-nuclear-family-website">abolish the nuclear family</a>.

Their official website claims, “We disrupt the Western-prescribed nuclear family structure requirement by supporting each other as extended families and “villages” that collectively care for one another, especially our children, to the degree that mothers, parents, and children are comfortable.” 

Core to BLM’s actions is the central belief that America is an inherently racist nation. On a number of occasions, Cullors has described how black Americans are at a fundamental disadvantage and are actively discriminated against in America. She has also indicated that in order to fight racism, black Americans have to separate themselves from other whites.

Rather than citing specific acts of racism, Cullors states that “all white Americans have inherent white supremacy” <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9OE0a87wHbA&amp;ab_channel=HOT97=23m58s">during a radio interview in New York</a>. She claimed that “...if you’re white...you have white supremacy in you, you have racism in you, that’s just what happens with whiteness”

In a separate interview, Cullors suggested that black people have to re-assert their “blackness” in order to <a href="https://youtu.be/Zp-RswgpjD8?t=546">resist becoming white</a>.

“The US is very clever at turning other groups white, and making them white, and we’ve seen that throughout history when groups were not white and when the white power structure was threatened, they figured out a way to make groups white. And I think as we move forward we have to figure out political alignments that hold blackness as a broader framework than just sort of the skin we are in, but as a political statement.” 

To Cullors, revered American institutions like law enforcement are the pillars of systematic racism. She, along with BLM, regularly vilify police as racists who disproportionately target African-Americans. Following the death of George Floyd, BLM released an official statement <a href="https://blacklivesmatter.com/defundthepolice/">alleging that police don’t protect black communities</a>. The statement read:

“George Floyd’s death was a breaking point - an all too familiar reminder that for Black people, law enforcement doesn’t protect or save lives. They often threaten and take them.”   

BLM then encouraged the reader to sign a petition below the statement that called for a defunding of police departments nation-wide:

“We call for an end to the systematic racism that allows this culture of corruption to go unchecked and our lives to be taken. We call for a national defunding of police. ” 

In calling for the defunding of police, the <a href="https://m4bl.org/policy-platforms/end-the-war-on-black-communities/">policy platform</a> for the Movement for Black Lives actually equates funding law enforcement with an increase of rapes committed in black communities.

“The investment in punishment over prevention has not made us any safer. On the contrary, it has contributed to skyrocketing levels of police killings, rapes, and sexual assaults, physical violence, harassment, and criminalization in Black communities.” 

The Movement for Black Lives has listed as a resource the <a href="https://www.thejerichomovement.com/home">National Jericho Movement</a>, under their <a href="https://m4bl.org/policy-platforms/political-power/">End Criminalization of Political Activity Policy Brief</a>. The National Jericho Movement is an organization that <a href="https://www.thejerichomovement.com/about">advocates for the release</a> of convicted cop killers, including <a href="https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2019/dec/22/the-never-ending-saga-of-cop-killer-mumia-abu-jama/">Mumia Abu-Jamal</a>, <a href="http://www.danielpipes.org/97/the-curious-case-of-jamil-al-amin">Jamil Abdullah Al-Amin</a>, and <a href="https://newyork.cbslocal.com/2020/09/23/anthony-bottom-convicted-of-killing-2-nypd-officers-in-1971-ambush-granted-parole/">Anthony Bottom</a>.

Cullors herself has repeatedly called for abolishing the police. In an <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AYa1WjHtzKc&amp;ab_channel=NowThisNews">interview with NowThis News</a>, she called for defunding police departments and that law enforcement is “rarely used” as a source of justice for the black community. She stated that defunding the police is the best available option because officers are trained to use force first, and that cannot be untrained. Answering the obvious question as to what would replace law enforcement, Cullors suggested that social workers would be sent to settle cases of domestic violence

When she was invited to <a href="https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2020/07/31/black-lives-matter-founder-dnc-platform-must-call-for-defunding-police-abolishing-ice/">address the Democratic National Committee</a>, Cullors used the platform to advocate for abolishing the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). and all prisons and federal detention centers.

“Until and unless our leaders become a signatory to the BREATHE Act — to legislation that eliminates the federal government’s ability to give multi-million dollar grants to militarize police forces; dismantles punitive like ICE, Border Patrol, and the DEA; ends the use of surveillance systems being used to target protesters, and bans the use of police agencies to suppress political dissent — the Democratic Party of today will be remembered as the party of complicity.”

Writing in the <a href="https://harvardlawreview.org/2019/04/abolition-and-reparations-histories-of-resistance-transformative-justice-and-accountability/">Harvard Law Review,</a>  she further detailed her positions and so-called “struggle” against “racism, patriarchy, and capitalism.” Going further than just condemning law enforcement agencies, Cullors designates the United States as the premier violator of human rights in the world. She wrote, “The United States, the world’s largest jailer, is also the world’s greatest perpetrator of war and the most extensive purveyor of human rights atrocities at home and abroad, laying claim to over 800 military bases around the world.”  

Seemingly written as a warning, Cullors describes exactly how she will confront the “white supremacy” that she considers embedded in the fabric of our society. She continued, “Abolition calls on us to not only to destabilize, deconstruct, and demolish oppressive systems, institutions, and practices, but also to repair histories of harm across the board. Our task is not only to abolish prisons, policing, and militarization, which are wielded in the name of “public safety” and “national security.” We must also demand reparations and incorporate reparative justice in our vision for society and community building in the twenty-first century.”  

BLM has been <a href="https://thefederalist.com/2020/09/16/study-up-to-95-percent-of-2020-u-s-riots-are-linked-to-black-lives-matter/">implicated in a number of riots</a> around the country following the death of George Floyd. A report by the Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project stated that 95% of riots over the summer of 2020 were linked to BLM activism or had BLM activists present. The resulting riots were the largest in American history, <a href="https://fee.org/articles/george-floyd-riots-caused-record-setting-2-billion-in-damage-new-report-says-here-s-why-the-true-cost-is-even-higher/#:~:text=Only%20now%20are%20we%20beginning,%241%20billion%20to%20%242%20billion.">causing an estimated $2 Billion in damages</a> and 47 deaths.

Despite the tragedy, Cullors has been, at best, ambivalent towards the destruction caused by riots. Hosted by Seth Myers, <a href="https://www.nbc.com/late-night-with-seth-meyers/video/ramy-youssef-and-patrisse-cullors-on-how-to-help-the-fight-against-police-brutality/4179038">Cullors dismissed looting and rioting</a>, excusing it as paling in comparison to the destruction caused by police.  On the program, she stated,

“I think, and what I’m often describing to people is, we are very obsessed with property damage. Property damage is seen as sort of like the pinnacle of destruction and violence, and we rarely hear the media focus on police violence or police terror...And so there’s this conservation that I think is an uneven conversation in the media about people who are looting versus the infrastructure and the structure of racism and the police officers who continue to cause havoc and chaos in our communities.”

Patrice has seemingly advocated for rioting. Interrupting Martin O’ Malley at Netroots Nation in 2015, <a href="https://youtu.be/chXJq-VaXXs?t=615">Cullors began chanting slogans</a> that now, with hindsight, seem ominous:

“If I die in police custody, avenge my death, by any means necessary!” 

“If I die in police custody, burn everything down! Because no building is worth more than my life! Because that's the only way motherf****** like you will listen!”  

This is not the only documented pattern of BLM's destructive impact on communities. Since 2014, researchers have identified a resurgence of homicides in inner-cities where police have withdrawn their presence following intense scrutiny by BLM activists. Coined, "<a href="https://www.city-journal.org/ferguson-effect-inner-cities">The Ferguson Effect</a>," thousands of additional deaths of black men and women have been attributed to this sudden absence of law enforcement.

Cullors and her other co-founders have accepted millions in donations since BLM’s inception. <a href="https://capitalresearch.org/article/tides-center-takes-control-of-black-lives-matter-global-network/">Publicly available documents</a> reveal that BLM accumulated more than $3 million in assets in 2019. This is before BLM officially joined <a href="https://www.tides.org/">The Tides Center</a>, a left-leaning organization that reported more than $636 million in revenues. As an official project under the umbrella of the Tides Foundation rather than a stand-alone organization, Cullors and BLM will now be shielded from the same IRS scrutiny that many non-profit organizations face.

Notable donors to the Tides Center include <a href="https://www.city-journal.org/html/connoisseur-chaos-14954.html">George Soros</a> and the <a href="https://thefederalist.com/2020/08/31/foundation-with-biden-campaign-ties-funding-leftist-agitators-on-u-s-streets/">Ford Foundation</a>. Donations to BLM are handled by <a href="https://www.opensecrets.org/pacs/lookup2.php?cycle=2018&amp;strID=C00401224">ActBlue</a>, a progressive fundraising platform that is set to raise more than $2.5 billion for left-leaning causes in 2020 alone.

Grant concluded his article by stating that racial battle fatigue causes “chronic racial stress,” which causes “poor mental health” such as “depression and anxiety.”

I have several Black friends.’ They also include asking a Black person, ‘Why are you so loud?’ and confusing a Black professional for a service worker.”
Grant concluded his article by stating that racial battle fatigue causes “chronic racial stress,” which causes “poor mental health” such as “depression and anxiety.”

O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. Atlas teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in the Public Affairs and Criminal Justice programs.
For Black History Month, Atlas wrote an article for the Indianapolis Business Journal titled “<a href="https://www.ibj.com/articles/pierre-atlas-acknowledging-reality-is-not-being-woke" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Acknowledging reality is not being ‘woke.’</a>” He begins by discussing Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’s recent proposal to ban state-funded universities from teaching topics related to diversity, equity, and inclusion. He writes, “Banning DEI might score points in the culture war, but it won’t erase the facts or the legacy of America’s history.”
Atlas says, “Racism might no longer be lawful, but its deep legacy (and continued practice) infects our social, cultural, economic and legal institutions to this day.” He states:
“The physical mobility of African Americans has been constrained in law and in everyday practice since the time of slavery: from slave patrols (America’s original organized police forces), to ‘sundown towns,’ to today’s racial profiling.” 
Atlas believes:
“Driving while Black, shopping while Black, even walking or jogging while Black produces humiliations, if not life-threatening encounters, around the country every day.” 
He concludes by arguing that “institutional and systemic racism is real” and “acknowledging this unfortunate reality should not be dismissed, ridiculed or banned as ‘wokeness.’”
Atlas’s Black History Month article is not the first time he has been outspoken about DeSantis’s new bill. On his Twitter account, where he describes himself as “Biased in favor of democracy,” he tweeted:

“Hardcore gun owners, their lobbyists and many members of the Republican Party refuse to allow the thousands of annual gun deaths and the additional thousands of nonfatal shootings to be used as justifications for restricting their rights as law-abiding citizens. They are willing to accept gun violence as an inevitable side effect of a free and armed but violent society.” 
In a 2017 op-ed for <a href="https://www.indystar.com/story/opinion/2017/10/23/atlas-right-own-guns-isnt-unlimited/790169001/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Indianapolis Star</a>, Atlas writes, “Gun rights advocates, for their part, need to recognize that no right, not even the Second Amendment, is absolute.”

Professor Lamb has been very outspoken about his dislike of former President Trump and conservatives in general. “When Trump ran for president in 2016, he used racially divisive rhetoric, calling Mexican immigrants criminals and rapists, proposing a ban on all Muslims entering the U.S. and suggesting a judge should recuse himself from a case solely because of the judge’s Mexican heritage.” 
He also claims:
“His campaign used the slogan “Make America Great Again,” which had been widely criticized for being a dog whistle to white people who felt that minorities were encroaching on their country.”

During the Spring 2021 semester, Professor Lamb taught a course titled “Media Literacy.” <a href="https://news.iu.edu/live/news/27377-timely-media-literacy-course-to-examine-fake-news" target="_blank" rel="noopener">News at IU</a> says the course “will help students decipher the noise and identify fake and factual news.” In an interview, Lamb was asked about his inspiration for the course. He stated:
“My take on media literacy will be based heavily on what President Donald Trump has called “fake news.” … his objective was to discredit the news media and therefore discredit any criticism of him and, in doing so, seize power in the way authoritarian despots have long done.”

<a href="https://oneill.iupui.edu/contact/people-directory/stucky-thomas.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Thomas Stucky</a> is a Professor of Criminal Justice at the Paul H. O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI).

In 2020, Stucky <a href="https://campusreform.org/article?id=16158" target="_blank" rel="noopener">taught a course titled, “Defund the Police? Race, Policing, and Criminal Justice Reform.”</a> Campus Reform obtained screenshots of an email sent from Director of Student Services Nicole Amonette that states “this class will explore the complex history of policing in America from early slave patrols through the civil rights era protest responses to modern-day policing, as part of a broader examination of the explosion of the American criminal justice system.”

Amonette writes that the course will “examine evidence of racial disparities in criminal justice outcomes for African Americans, LatinX, and other minoritized groups.” In addition, the course will:
“...examine reforms to simultaneously reduce the size and scope of our criminal justice system and increase public safety, as well as policing reforms to maximize justice for all who live in America, while maintaining public safety.”

<a href="https://fsph.iupui.edu/about/directory/halverson-paul.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Paul Halverson</a> is a Professor and Founding Dean of the Richard M. Fairbanks School of Public Health at Indiana University.

In April 2021, Halverson wrote an article for The Conversation titled, <a href="https://theconversation.com/declaring-racism-a-public-health-crisis-brings-more-attention-to-solving-long-ignored-racial-gaps-in-health-143330" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“Declaring racism a public health crisis brings more attention to solving long-ignored racial gaps in health.”</a> The article was written shortly after CDC Director Dr. Rochelle P. Walensky <a href="https://www.cdc.gov/media/releases/2021/s0408-racism-health.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">called racism an epidemic</a> that affects “the entire health of our nation.”

Halverson agrees with Walensky and writes that “drawing attention to the racial gaps in health care is an important step in addressing them.” He claims acknowledging racism as a public health threat “may require all health-related professional training programs to include structural racism identification, implied bias and anti-racism strategies within the curriculum.”

Halverson concludes his article by stating,
“Treating racism like the disease that the CDC says it is suggests boosting our investment in public health funding would be money well spent.” 
On June 1, 2020, following the death of George Floyd and bloody protests across the country, Halverson released a message titled <a href="https://fsph.iupui.edu/news-events/news/response-to-racism.html?_gl=1*1k82m4j*_ga*ODgwNDQzNTAuMTY2Mzk3MTkwMA..*_ga_61CH0D2DQW*MTY2OTkxODk1NS4xMS4xLjE2Njk5MTkxNzUuMC4wLjA.&amp;_ga=2.265060108.209906179.1669918956-88044350.1663971900" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“Our Response to Racism.”</a> In his letter, he writes:

<a href="https://liberalarts.iupui.edu/programs/aip/directory/charmayne-charli-champion-shaw/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Charmayne 'Charli' Champion-Shaw</a> is Director of the Office of American Indian Programs and a Lecturer in Native American &amp; Indigenous Studies at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI).

In October 2022, Champion-Shaw created a bulletin board display titled “Understanding Christian Privilege” which remained up until the end of the 2022-2023 school year. <a href="https://campusreform.org/article?id=23356" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Campus Reform</a> posted photos of the display, which showed six full pages of detailed information. The information included the definition that Christian privilege is “the idea that Christians receive inherent advantages in society (in school, in the workplace, and in public places) due to the perception that Christianity is status quo, while other religions are not.”

The display also featured a “Christian Privilege Checklist” where students could see if they “ever benefit from or exhibit behaviors denoting their favored status as Christians.” Some of the items on the checklist included:

 	<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">“Your faith is accepted/supported at your workplace”</li>
 	<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">“Music and television programs pertaining to your religion’s holidays are readily accessible”</li>
 	<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">“You can worship freely, without fear of violence or threats”</li>
 	<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">“A bumper sticker supporting your religion won’t likely lead to your car being vandalized”</li>
</ul>
Additionally, the <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/media/public-university-display-teaches-christian-privilege-directly-connected-white-supremacy" target="_blank" rel="noopener">materials on the bulletin board</a> stated, “Christian privilege is directly connected to white supremacy and settler colonialism.” It further described Manifest Destiny as “the whole idea that drove white people’s racist and genocidal entitlement to take over North America,” saying:
“If murdering people and forcing them to commit to your religion while you take over their lands and try your hardest to stamp out their culture isn’t the apex of privilege, I don’t know what else is.” 
Other assertions Champion-Shaw’s display made included:

 	<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">“Christians do not face systemic discrimination in the U.S.”</li>
 	<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">“Religious diversity is not the same as Christianity being under attack”</li>
 	<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">“Christianity is too often seen as synonymous with moral goodness”</li>
 	<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">“To wield Christian privilege is often to weaponize religion against non-Christians”</li>
</ul>
Champion-Shaw described herself as “the creator and organizer” of the display and told Campus Reform she would be “happy to chat after graduation.” However, Campus Reform reports she has not replied to any of their follow-up inquiries.

Parker-Gills told Common Thread her critical view on the Founding Fathers of the United States of America: “If the founding fathers really loved freedom and were god-fearing as they said, we would all be in a different situation today.” She also made the following comment about American history:  “America has a great story, a phenomenal story. It is a wonderful experiment that started off horribly wrong.” 
Regarding Parker-Gills’ view of American history, Common Thread wrote: “She believes that it’s precisely not knowing this history that makes it difficult to heal the things that are still broken. This is due in no small part to the whitewashing of history in the institutions of education and publishing, which has silenced too many voices and too many narratives.”
Common Thread states that in “The Rise of Black Power Movement &amp; the Black Panther Party” Parker-Gills “focuses on how the rise of the Black Power Movement and the Black Panther Party are widely misunderstood.”

<a href="https://weissman.baruch.cuny.edu/weissman-academic-departments/the-department-of-history/department-of-history-faculty/">Johanna Fernandez</a> is an Associate Professor of History at <a href="https://www.baruch.cuny.edu/">Baruch College</a> in New York City. According to her <a href="https://www.johannafernandez.net/">personal website</a>, Fernandez teaches US history as well as the history of social movements.
Riots and Violence 
Fernadez dedicates much of her professional life to teaching students about convicted cop-killer, Mumia Abu-Jamal. A founding member of the Philadelphia Black Panther Party, Abu-Jamal is currently <a href="https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2019/dec/22/the-never-ending-saga-of-cop-killer-mumia-abu-jama/">serving</a> a life sentence without the possibility of parole for the murder of Philadelphia Police Officer, Daniel Faulkner, in December of 1981.
Despite his conviction, Fernandez maintains that Abu-Jamal is innocent. In an article titled, “Mumia Abu-Jamal: A Black Radical Who Matters For Our Time” for HuffPost, Fernandez <a href="https://www.huffpost.com/entry/mumia-abujamal-a-black-ra_b_6621946">alleges</a> that Abu-Jamal’s trial was “railroaded” by the <a href="https://www.fop.net/">Fraternal Order of Police</a> (FOP) and that Abu-Jamal is innocent of murdering Faulkner. Fernandez further claims that Abu-Jamal’s sentence is proof that the police are attempting to silence Abu-Jamal, as the FOP views him as a threat to their power.
Describing him as a “black prophetic voice,” Fernandez also <a href="https://www.huffpost.com/entry/mumia-abujamal-a-black-ra_b_6621946">states</a> in the same article that Abu-Jamal can serve as an inspiration for today’s social justice activists and young black men. Fernandez predicts that Abu-Jamal’s work will eventually enact a “revolution.”

The <a href="http://urbandreams.ousd.k12.ca.us/lessonplans/mlk2/additional3.html">lessons</a> taught by Oakland Unified School District compare Abu-Jamal to civil rights leaders like Martin Luther King Jr. The lesson plan, titled Hidden in Plain Sight, <a href="http://urbandreams.ousd.k12.ca.us/lessonplans/mlk2/additional3.html">states</a> that assigning students to read about Abu-Jamal will “humanize someone who is only known as a “convicted cop killer.”

As the New Jersey-based online newspaper NJ.com <a href="https://www.nj.com/essex/2015/04/nj_teacher_suspended_over_third-graders_get_well_l.html">reports</a>, Fernandez and Marylin Zuniga, a former 3rd-grade elementary school teacher in Orange, NJ and now the Educational Director of the <a href="https://www.myceliumyouthnetwork.org/meet-our-staff">Mycelium Youth Network,</a> assigned students to write “get-well” letters to Abu-Jamal. Fernandez would later write that she personally handed the letters to Abu-Jamal in jail, where Fernandez states that she “shared a touching moment with Abu-Jamal in an effort to raise his spirits.” The Daily Mail <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3083563/New-Jersey-teacher-Marylin-Zuniga-fired-letting-students-write-letters-imprisoned-cop-killer.html">reports</a> that Zuniga was suspended and later fired from her position as a teacher by the Orange Board of Education for not seeking approval before having her students write the letters to Abu-Jamal.

Objecting to the professor’s remarks about children being held in cages at the border, a student tried to interject that human trafficking was a major issue that no one was talking about. Shapiro immediately cut her off and accused President Donald Trump of bragging about having sex with his daughter Ivanka.

<a href="https://www.umb.edu/academics/cla/english/faculty/sari_edelstein" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Sari Edelstein</a> is a Professor of English in the College of Liberal Arts and the Director of the Undergraduate English Program at the University of Massachusetts-Boston (UMass). Her area of expertise includes Women Writers, Age Studies, and Feminist and Queer Theory.

Edelstein is also a co-director of the Center for the Humanities, Culture, and Society (CHCS) at UMass. The <a href="https://www.umb.edu/chcs/mission" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Center’s Mission Statement</a> says,

“CHCS seeks to showcase the broad range of scholarly work under the banner of the humanities…The humanities enable us to address essential and enduring questions about culture and society as well as to contemplate more urgent issues confronting individuals and communities right now.”

In November 2022, the CHCS invited a feminist author to speak on campus. <a href="https://www.thecollegefix.com/scholars-abolish-the-family-speech-hosted-at-umass-boston/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The College Fix reported</a>, “An expert on ‘feminist, trans and queer politics and philosophy,’ scholar Sophie Lewis…at an event named after her book, ‘<a href="https://www.google.com/books/edition/Abolish_the_Family/b89UEAAAQBAJ?hl=en&amp;gbpv=1&amp;dq=abolish+the+family&amp;printsec=frontcover" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Abolish the Family: A Manifestor for Care and Liberation</a>.’” Lewis also published an article in The Nation titled “<a href="https://www.thenation.com/article/society/abortion-ethics-gestation-reproduction/">Abortion Involves Killing-and That’s OK!</a>” 

The Professor Watchlist contacted CHCS to get feedback on why Lewis headlined the event but Edelstein did not reply in time for publication.

<a href="https://www.umb.edu/academics/cla/faculty/chris_barcelos" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Chris Barcelos</a> is an Assistant Professor of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies in the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Massachusetts-Boston (UMass). His academic expertise includes “critical public health, sexualities studies, queer of color critique, and transgender studies.”

Barcelos identifies as a member of the trans-community and prefers the pronouns they/them/theirs. He is listed as a <a href="https://www.appliedtransstudies.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Senior and Distinguished Fellow of CATS</a> (The Center for Applied Transgender Studies). The organization's About page says, “We are an independent nonprofit research organization run by transgender people for transgender people.” 

<a href="https://chrisbarcelos.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">On his personal website</a>, Barcelos defines himself as “a humanistic social scientist and feminist educator.” His profile further states,

“My work combines critical race theory and critical sexualities studies with community-based research to analyze U.S.-based public health efforts. I focus specifically on queer sexuality, transgender health, and reproductive justice.”

Barcelos’ site also includes a link to the <a href="https://transyouthjusticeproject.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Trans Youth Justice Project</a> (TYJP) — a community-based education organization specializing in trans history and trans rights. Barcelos is the co-facilitator, curriculum author, and program evaluator. <a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1bBYF27FvW2vmMGUUyZFAQdsSQTxoGPkj/view" target="_blank" rel="noopener">TYJP Remote Curriculum’s</a> Youth Recruitment and Incentives program offers enrollees a $20/hr stipend to complete a 6-week course centered on trans social justice, respectful pronoun usage, and sex education.

In response to the leaked draft of the Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, Barcelos wrote <a href="https://genderpolicyreport.umn.edu/gendered-racial-projects-anti-trans-anti-crt-and-anti-abortion-legislation/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">an article for The Gender Policy Report</a> that says,

“For those with some degree of racial, economic, or gender privilege, the leak signaled the first time in their adult lives that they could lack the right to control their bodies. For students of color, queer and trans youth, economically marginalized students…the leak was part of the ongoing state violence that has long affected their communities.”

In his book, “<a href="https://www.google.com/books/edition/Distributing_Condoms_and_Hope/6wb9DwAAQBAJ?hl=en&amp;gbpv=1&amp;dq=%E2%80%9CTransgender+Reproductive+Justice%E2%80%9D+In+Reproductive+Justice+Briefing+Book,+2nd+edition:+A+Primer+on+Reproductive+Justice+and+Social+Change.+Amherst,+MA:+Center+for+Civil+Liberties+and+Public+Policy.&amp;printsec=frontcover" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Distributing Condoms and Hope: The Radicalized Politics of Youth Sexual Health</a>,” Barcelos writes,

“This book makes visible the operation of power in youth sexual and reproductive health and reimagines what health promotion would look like through the lens of reproductive justice (RJ). Women of color feminist activists developed the concept of reproductive justice in the mid-1990s as a framework, vision, and social movement.”

He continued,

“[RJ] refocusses individual-level debates about reproductive ‘rights’ and ‘choice’ to emphasize a broader analysis of racial, economic, and structural constraints on power. The approach expands a singular focus on white, economically privileged women’s access to contraception and abortion to include the right to have children and to parent them with dignity and support.”

Bobel’s profile says she spent nearly 20 years in the field of critical menstruation studies. In 2020, she edited and co-authored “<a href="https://www.amazon.com/Palgrave-Handbook-Critical-Menstruation-Studies-ebook/dp/B08DMKGDK7/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=the+palgrave+handbook+of+critical+menstruation+studies&amp;qid=1687980465&amp;sprefix=the+palgrave%2Caps%2C219&amp;sr=8-1" rel="noopener">The Palgrave Handbook of Critical Menstruation Studies</a>.” In her chapter titled, “Introduction: Menstruation as Lens—Menstruation as Opportunity,” Bobel wrote:

“Similar to critical race studies or critical gender studies, critical menstruation studies is premised upon menstruation as a category of analysis: asking how systems of power and knowledge are built upon its understanding, and furthermore, who benefits from these social constructions.”

In February 2023, Bobel was featured in the <a href="https://campusreform.org/article?id=21348" rel="noopener">Campus Reform</a> article “‘Menstrual Equity Summit’ held at Northeastern University.” According to the Reform, Bobel said she was “neither advocating nor discouraging free bleeding. The change I promote is [a] movement toward self-determination…I use ‘menstruating in public’ symbolically, actually. The message here is one of challenging menstrual stigma.”

During the Summit, Bobel asked the audience, “In our movement work, are we too concerned with respectability politics?”

As of January 2022, she will additionally serve as <a href="https://berkeleybeacon.com/creative-writing-professor-appointed-interim-dean-of-graduate-and-professional-studies/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Interim Dean of Graduate and Professional Studies at the college</a>.
Dr. McLarin is known for her racially laden invectives directed against white people, delivered across a variety of platforms and mediums. In one article, Dr. McLarin bluntly states that white women and black women cannot be friends because of their skin color.
At the beginning of her piece, Dr. McLarin writes that <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2019/03/29/can-black-women-white-women-be-true-friends/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">she simply cannot trust white women:</a>

She describes these women as the “most ferocious” opponents of gender equality, as they “choose race over gender” on every occasion. Therefore, she contends that many white women do not wish to grapple with race and, as a result, their racial privilege.
Dr. McLarin then writes that she attributes her frustration in particular to the white women in her class. She singles out white, female students in particular for failing to comprehend systemic racism. She finishes the piece by stating that white women simply do not view black women as vulnerable, and therefore do not view black women as human.
In a separate article, Dr. McLarin goes even further; <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2006/09/03/fashion/03love.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">she states that she will not only refuse to be friends with white women, but will not date anyone that is white</a>. The piece was published in the New York Times in December of 2006, just after Dr. McLarin separated from her husband. She acknowledges the divorce was over race, admitting that her white husband’s inability to grapple with race was the deciding factor in ending their marriage.
The majority of the article explains Dr. McLarin experiences dating another colleague, who is also white. During one of their dates, Dr. McLarin found herself enraged over a conversation involving race. She writes that her hands began trembling when her date stated, “I don’t think everyone is racist.”
She would eventually break up with him, admitting that “it costs too much for me to date a white man.”

Dr. McLarin expresses her contempt for her NRA-certified instructor and her uneasiness in handling a gun throughout the piece, writing that her past experience with guns had been “wholly negative.” Listing off a variety of examples of what she would describe as racialized violence, Dr. McLarin characterizes the reason for her wanting to get a gun is due to the fact that “white violence towards black people is always calculated.” She further writes, “but some things are clear: Power begets violence. Violence reinforces power. White Americans damn well know this much.”
Dr. McLarin then identifies her urgency in getting a gun; If a racial war were to break out, she would use the gun against the “violent white mobs” and “take them as they come.”
“If a civil war breaks out, I say, if violent white mobs begin roaming the country as they have done in the past, I will not worry about precision shooting. I intend to sit on my porch with my legally acquired handgun and as much ammunition as I have and perhaps a bottle of Scotch and take them as they come. I say as much to my husband. My husband, understandably, is shocked. He’s not sure he believes me. I’m pretty sure he should.” 
She then alludes that her actions are necessary and justified, questioning whether she can live in a violent society without becoming and acting just as violent.

Dr. Shaya Gregory Poku is the author of, “9 Tips for Anti-Racist Child Rearing.” The document is part of a racially-incendiary Facebook post that celebrates racial differences, instructs blacks not to have too many white friends, and calls for schools to teach about racial hierarchies in the world.
Her original comments were <a href="https://www.facebook.com/shaya.gregorypoku/posts/995249889614" target="_blank" rel="noopener">published as an address to white parents</a>, asking them to make the “struggle for racial justice” part of their daily lives.

Dr. Shaya Gregory Poku is the author of, “9 Tips for Anti-Racist Child Rearing.” The document is part of a racially-incendiary Facebook post that celebrates racial differences, instructs blacks not to have too many white friends, and calls for schools to teach about racial hierarchies in the world.

Her original comments were <a href="https://www.facebook.com/shaya.gregorypoku/posts/995249889614" target="_blank" rel="noopener">published as an address to white parents</a>, asking them to make the “struggle for racial justice” part of their daily lives.

In an article for <a href="https://theconversation.com/the-michelin-guide-is-eurocentric-and-elitist-yet-it-will-soon-be-an-arbiter-of-culinary-excellence-in-philly-256667" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Conversation</a> published June 3, Srivinas claimed the Michelin Food Guide system of awarding stars to exceptional restaurants is Eurocentric and essentially racist in its process awarding of restaurants throughout the world. The Michelin Guide is preparing to visit Philadelphia and award stars to restaurants that meet its criteria. 
“On a contemporary map charting where the Michelin Guide is found, huge swathes of the world are missing,” Srininvas writes. She finds it racist that the guide is not present in other countries with a primarily non-caucasian racial demographic:
“There is no Michelin Guide in India, one of the world’s greatest and oldest cuisines, or in Africa with its multiplicity of cultural flavors. Perhaps a side of racism with the boeuf bourguignon?”
Srinivas claimed, “One could say Michelin is a somewhat conservative enterprise. Rather than leading the way, it has followed consumers’ expanding palates.” 
It is unclear, how following the expansion of food palates makes Michelin a conservative enterprise.

<a href="https://www.fandm.edu/directory/quincy-amoah.html">Quincy Amoah</a> is an Assistant Professor of Cultural Anthropology/Africana Studies at Franklin &amp; Marshall College. 
According to his university profile, Amoah “is obsessed with cattle, Nilotic [i.e. pertaining to the Nile River] ‘apparently irrational beliefs,’ and the meaning of ‘good’ when one and their community are dedicated to brigandage.”
Amoah was one of 125 Franklin &amp; Marshall faculty members who jointly signed a <a href="https://yaf.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/Letter20of20Solidarity20Final.pdf.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">letter</a> to “denounce the [university’s] choice to invite transphobic speaker Paula Scanlan to our campus on March 27, in close proximity to Transgender Day of Visibility.”
Paula Scanlan was a teammate of “transgender” swimmer Lia Thomas, previously William Thomas, who swam on the women’s team at the University of Pennsylvania. Scanlan has <a href="https://rumble.com/v2sno54-the-university-wanted-us-to-be-quiet-lia-thomas-teammate-speaks-out-to-matt.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">expressed</a> that she was uncomfortable with Thomas being a member of the team due to his gender and felt her female teammates were overlooked in favor of Thomas’s greater strength and athleticism. 
Scanlan embarked on a lecture tour in partnership with Young America&#8217;s Foundation during the Spring 2024 semester to discuss her college swim experience at universities across the country Her lecture was titled “Biological Men Should Not Compete in Women’s Sports.”
The faculty who wrote the letter state that Scanlan “is working with a well-funded, far-right ‘culture war’ machine that seeks to sow division, provoke backlash, generate publicity, and weaken public confidence in higher education.”
The writers further claim that Scanlan is “transphobic” because of her statements about Thomas. They say Scanlan has “refused to acknowledge the identity of the trans community:” 
“In videos of her campus visits available online, we have seen Scanlan disrespect, misgender, and mock trans people. Scanlan also has a history of (a) invoking the unsubstantiated idea that the presence of transgender women creates a threat of sexual violence to cisgender women, and (b) making direct reference to the physical appearance of Lia Thomas’s genitalia.”
Towards the end of their letter, the professors state their supposed commitment to free speech, no matter how disagreeable that speech may be to them. Yet, they are against the university inviting “speakers to campus whose demonstrated aim is to demean, devalue, and threaten the lives of our friends, family, and community members.” 
They conclude the letter with the following statements in affirmation of the “transgender community:”
“We believe that our role as a college community must include speaking out against such dehumanization. To the queer, trans, and nonbinary members of our community: you have allies on this campus who value and support you. We are committed to fighting alongside you. To President Altmann and the F&amp;M administration: we call on you to make a strong, unequivocal statement of care and support on behalf of all of our LGBTQ+ students, colleagues, and community members.”

<a href="https://www.fandm.edu/directory/quincy-amoah.html">Quincy Amoah</a> is an Assistant Professor of Cultural Anthropology/Africana Studies at Franklin &amp; Marshall College. 

According to his university profile, Amoah “is obsessed with cattle, Nilotic [i.e. pertaining to the Nile River] ‘apparently irrational beliefs,’ and the meaning of ‘good’ when one and their community are dedicated to brigandage.”

Amoah was one of 125 Franklin &amp; Marshall faculty members who jointly signed a <a href="https://yaf.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/Letter20of20Solidarity20Final.pdf.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">letter</a> to “denounce the [university’s] choice to invite transphobic speaker Paula Scanlan to our campus on March 27, in close proximity to Transgender Day of Visibility.”

Paula Scanlan was a teammate of “transgender” swimmer Lia Thomas, previously William Thomas, who swam on the women’s team at the University of Pennsylvania. Scanlan has <a href="https://rumble.com/v2sno54-the-university-wanted-us-to-be-quiet-lia-thomas-teammate-speaks-out-to-matt.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">expressed</a> that she was uncomfortable with Thomas being a member of the team due to his gender and felt her female teammates were overlooked in favor of Thomas’s greater strength and athleticism. 

Scanlan embarked on a lecture tour in partnership with Young America's Foundation during the Spring 2024 semester to discuss her college swim experience at universities across the country Her lecture was titled “Biological Men Should Not Compete in Women’s Sports.”

The faculty who wrote the letter state that Scanlan “is working with a well-funded, far-right ‘culture war’ machine that seeks to sow division, provoke backlash, generate publicity, and weaken public confidence in higher education.”
