<a href="https://cj.ua.edu/people/erin-kearns/">Erin Kearns</a>, an Assistant Professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of Alabama, made headlines after being recorded telling students right-wing terrorism is worse than islamic terrorism. These claims, based on the number of attacks rather than the number of casualties, were made during Kearn&#8217;s previous employment at American University. Kearns states that &#8220;only about 12 percent of terrorist attacks in the U.S. have been committed by Muslims&#8221;. After obtaining the audio files The College Fix conducted a study that did verify her statement but also shows that right-wing terrorism is responsible for less than half of the fatalities.

<a href="https://www.emerson.edu/faculty-staff-directory/kimberly-mclarin" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. Kimberly McLarin</a> is a Professor of Creative Writing and the Director of Popular Fiction Writing and Publishing at <a href="https://www.emerson.edu/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Emerson College</a> in Boston, Massachusetts. As of January 2022, she will additionally serve as <a href="https://berkeleybeacon.com/creative-writing-professor-appointed-interim-dean-of-graduate-and-professional-studies/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Interim Dean of Graduate and Professional Studies at the college</a>.
Dr. McLarin is known for her racially laden invectives directed against white people, delivered across a variety of platforms and mediums. In one article, Dr. McLarin bluntly states that white women and black women cannot be friends because of their skin color.
At the beginning of her piece, Dr. McLarin writes that <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2019/03/29/can-black-women-white-women-be-true-friends/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">she simply cannot trust white women:</a>

She further reveals that her closest friends have also cut off many white people from their immediate circle. Dr. McLarin echoes their sentiments, writing that white women are just, “too much trouble” to be around.
Dr. McLarin then lists what she describes are the real reasons why she isn’t friends with white women; their power and white privilege. She accuses all white women of holding and wielding racial privilege to their benefit, in particular with matters involving police officers. She describes these women as the “most ferocious” opponents of gender equality, as they “choose race over gender” on every occasion. Therefore, she contends that many white women do not wish to grapple with race and, as a result, their racial privilege.
Dr. McLarin then writes that she attributes her frustration in particular to the white women in her class. She singles out white, female students in particular for failing to comprehend systemic racism. She finishes the piece by stating that white women simply do not view black women as vulnerable, and therefore do not view black women as human.
In a separate article, Dr. McLarin goes even further; <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2006/09/03/fashion/03love.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">she states that she will not only refuse to be friends with white women, but will not date anyone that is white</a>. The piece was published in the New York Times in December of 2006, just after Dr. McLarin separated from her husband. She acknowledges the divorce was over race, admitting that her white husband’s inability to grapple with race was the deciding factor in ending their marriage.
The majority of the article explains Dr. McLarin experiences dating another colleague, who is also white. During one of their dates, Dr. McLarin found herself enraged over a conversation involving race. She writes that her hands began trembling when her date stated, “I don’t think everyone is racist.”
She would eventually break up with him, admitting that “it costs too much for me to date a white man.”

Dr. McLarin again directs her invective <a href="https://www.thesunmagazine.org/issues/550/on-white-violence-black-survival-and-learning-to-shoot" target="_blank" rel="noopener">towards white people in a piece about buying and using a gun in a hypothetical race war</a>. The article in question was published inThe Sun magazine as Dr. McLarin recounts her interaction with an NRA instructor as she attempts to buy a firearm for the first time.
Dr. McLarin expresses her contempt for her NRA-certified instructor and her uneasiness in handling a gun throughout the piece, writing that her past experience with guns had been “wholly negative.” Listing off a variety of examples of what she would describe as racialized violence, Dr. McLarin characterizes the reason for her wanting to get a gun is due to the fact that “white violence towards black people is always calculated.” She further writes, “but some things are clear: Power begets violence. Violence reinforces power. White Americans damn well know this much.”
Dr. McLarin then identifies her urgency in getting a gun; If a racial war were to break out, she would use the gun against the “violent white mobs” and “take them as they come.”
“If a civil war breaks out, I say, if violent white mobs begin roaming the country as they have done in the past, I will not worry about precision shooting. I intend to sit on my porch with my legally acquired handgun and as much ammunition as I have and perhaps a bottle of Scotch and take them as they come. I say as much to my husband. My husband, understandably, is shocked. He’s not sure he believes me. I’m pretty sure he should.” 
She then alludes that her actions are necessary and justified, questioning whether she can live in a violent society without becoming and acting just as violent.

Dr. Shaya Gregory Poku is the author of, “9 Tips for Anti-Racist Child Rearing.” The document is part of a racially-incendiary Facebook post that celebrates racial differences, instructs blacks not to have too many white friends, and calls for schools to teach about racial hierarchies in the world.

Her original comments were <a href="https://www.facebook.com/shaya.gregorypoku/posts/995249889614" target="_blank" rel="noopener">published as an address to white parents</a>, asking them to make the “struggle for racial justice” part of their daily lives.

Urging parents to embrace “racial differences,” Dr. Poku describes color-blindness as “absurd.”

“Acknowledge and celebrate differences in appearance, features, and cultural norms. Describe people referring to their racial backgrounds. Do not use euphemisms or code words.”  

“DO NOT teach kids that the world is fair or a meritocracy! Stop the propaganda!” She continues, “The U.S. (and the world) have long and violent histories of racial subjugation. The status quo – what is normative in U.S. society is racism, white supremacy, and anti-blackness. Kids need to be progressively introduced to the harm of this racial hierarchy.”

In addition to intervening when children make friends with “prejudiced” playmates, Dr. Poku recommends that parents do not “live your life in a white bubble.” This includes boycotting white-owned businesses in favor of those owned by minorities.

In June 2022, <a href="https://today.emerson.edu/2022/05/13/shaya-gregory-poku-appointed-vp-for-equity-social-justice/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. Poku was named the Vice President for Equity and Social Justice at Emerson College</a>. She previously served as “Chief Diversity Officer” at Wheaton College.

<a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/beth-hoffman-70b1b79a" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Beth Hoffman</a> is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Behavioral and Community Health Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh. According to her LinkedIn profile, Hoffman’s research examines “the influence of television on education and health promotion” and the “characteristics of those who express anti-vaccine sentiment on Facebook and the history of anti-vaccine rhetoric and protests.”
In July 2023, Hoffman led a study titled, “<a href="https://www.cureus.com/articles/157628-utilizing-television-clips-for-graduate-medical-education-anti-racist-curricula-an-acceptability-study?score_article=true#!/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Utilizing Television Clips for Graduate Medical Education Anti-Racist Curricula: An Acceptability Study</a>.” The introduction begins by stating:
“Systemic racism continues to be a major problem plaguing every facet of American life; healthcare is no exception. Centuries of discrimination toward Black Americans have resulted in less access to appropriate education, funding, and encouragement, preventing them from having equal access to medical education.” 
The writers say that “edutainment”, which involves the incorporation of educational content into entertainment content, is one tool that can be used to fix this systemic racism. They say previous research has used clips from shows such as ER, Grey’s Anatomy, and House M.D. to address issues such as “anti-obesity bias,” so they “hypothesized that it would be a useful tool in teaching about race bias and anti-racism.”
According to the paper, the four topics represented in each pair of clips shown to participants were “(1) health disparities and stigmatizing language, (2) physician becoming jaded about the role of the healthcare system in addressing racism, (3) bias in clinical care, and (4) tokenism and the minority tax.”
However, the researchers do recognize there <a href="https://www.thecollegefix.com/teach-anti-racism-to-med-students-with-greys-anatomy-study/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">could be some problems</a> with trying to train medical students with TV clips, saying:
“Despite the numerous possible advantages to an edutainment approach in anti-racism curricula, educators undertaking this work must also employ a framework of cultural competence to navigate potentially challenging and emotionally charged discussions that may follow edutainment clips that begin such discussions.
“With diverse groups of participants, educators facilitating discussion need to understand various perspectives, defuse conflict, and have a trauma-informed approach to racist and microaggressive comments.” 
The researchers conclude:
“Edutainment with medical television shows may be a promising avenue for anti-racist curricular content for residents. The educational methods described here are being incorporated into a multi-pronged, hospital system wide graduate medical education anti-racist curriculum.”

<a href="https://bioethics.pitt.edu/people/greer-donley-jd" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Greer Donley</a> is a John E. Murray Scholar and Associate Professor of Law at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. According to her university profile, she is a “national expert on abortion and the law.”

Greer Donley, along with professors <a href="https://www.professorwatchlist.org/professor/davidcohen" target="_blank" rel="noopener">David S. Cohen</a> and <a href="https://www.professorwatchlist.org/professor/rachelrebouche" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Rachel Rebouché</a>, co-authored a paper titled, “<a href="https://deliverypdf.ssrn.com/delivery.php?ID=201095112122103006025001126085088086040043066035030023010102086110082021091104083089018000021043022098116013003097117122116005047027049064068076113123027064120023067081030081125091019084010126124006076097006097103124024118011028114001123029127006098&amp;EXT=pdf&amp;INDEX=TRUE" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The New Abortion Battleground</a>.” This article lays out three potential ways that the Biden administration can “protect abortion rights” in the wake of Roe v. Wade being overturned.

Donley and her co-authors write that Congress should create a federal right to abortion which, under the U.S. Constitution’s Supremacy Clause, would arguably “preempt state abortion bans.” They also suggest the federal government could allow abortions to take place on federal land where state abortion bans might be inapplicable. Lastly, they advocate for the federal government to remove obstacles that may make it difficult for women to receive medication abortions.

Donley authored another article titled, “<a href="https://deliverypdf.ssrn.com/delivery.php?ID=204024105119027094067107010108101093034021070051045032025118110105026087085098121011048103001010014121023024093064000082004114107082070089028065088099014117080065035037042078101014092029003127022067076087069115111066001082003071009111005095012015113&amp;EXT=pdf&amp;INDEX=TRUE" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Second-Trimester Abortion Dangertalk</a>.” She defines dangertalk as a term abortion providers use to describe “open dialogue about uncomfortable abortion truths.” She believes that “embracing abortion dangertalk should disarm the anti-abortion, woman-protective narrative surrounding second-trimester abortion regulations - a narrative suggesting that women would not have chosen an abortion had they been better informed.”

The first part of her paper describes “the unique nature of the second-trimester abortion procedure, which is ‘visually and viscerally different’ than first-trimester abortion because it involved ‘removing what looks like a fully formed but small baby’ instead of a ‘microscopic fetus and gestational sac.’”

In the second part of her article, she admits many women feel a sense of grief and loss after a second trimester abortion. She believes that abortion providers should offer patients the option of memory-making to help them process these emotions. Memory-making is typically used for parents who have experienced a stillbirth. It gives them the opportunity to hold their child and obtain mementos such as pictures and footprints.

Donley notes that some abortion providers offer this care to a certain extent, but believes it should become common practice for women to be offered memory-making opportunities with their aborted child. She suggests: “Women can, for instance, create mementos from the heartbeat sound, have special ultrasound pictures taken, have footprints and handprints made, name the child, or have the remains cremated or buried.”

Donley adds that certain types of abortion procedures may not make it possible for the woman to hold the child. She notes an induction abortion “allows a woman to hold her baby without any physical scars caused by the abortion procedure.” She also says:
“A D&amp;X abortion allows similar opportunities without the extra time, expense, or need for inpatient care, including the baby, albeit with some trauma to the fetus’s head. Holding the baby is often not possible after a D&amp;E because the fetus is not intact, but other memories are possible.” 
Despite all this, Donley says abortion providers believe that memory-making can be empowering for women who receive a second-trimester abortion. They believe that “women who choose to view the fetal tissue benefit due to ‘exercising choice and control during the abortion.’”

<a href="http://www.anthropology.pitt.edu/people/gabby-m-h-yearwood" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Gabby M. H. Yearwood</a> is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Anthropology and the Managing Faculty Director for the Center for Civil Rights and Racial Justice in the Law School at the University of Pittsburgh.

According to his university profile, Yearwood’s research interests include “the social constructions of race and racism, masculinity, gender, sex, Black Feminist and Black Queer theory, anthropology of sport and Black diaspora.” He teaches courses such as Activist Anthropology, Anthropology of Race and Science, and Politics of Black Masculinity.

Yearwood <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/media/audience-laughs-professor-telling-riley-gaines-difference-male-female-bone-structure" target="_blank" rel="noopener">attended a March 2023 event</a> featuring Riley Gaines, a University of Kentucky graduate who tied for fifth place with transgender swimmer Lia Thomas at the NCAA championship. The event was a joint effort between the Leadership Institute and Turning Point USA and featured a question-and-answer session.

After a short back-and-forth, Gaines asked Yearwood, “If you were to dig up two humans one hundred years from now, both man and woman, could you tell the difference, strictly off of bones?”

After Yearwood replied “No!” the room erupted in laughter. In response, Yearwood stated:
“Have any of you been to anthropological sites? Have any of you studied biological anthropology? I’m just saying, I’ve got over 150 years of data, I’m just curious as to why I’m being laughed at.”

Gaines later told <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/i-have-a-phd-professor-laughed-out-of-room-after-getting-pinned-on-gender-ideology-question-by-swim-champ-riley-gaines" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Daily Wire</a>,
“Every single rational person knows the answer: men have narrower hips, their skulls are different, they have an extra rib, their femurs are longer, their jaws are different. When he said ‘No,’ it just highlighted that even someone with a PhD was willing to lie to virtue signal or to put off this perception that sex is a social construct, which we know is not the case.”

<a href="https://business.pitt.edu/professors/charles-hadlock/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Charles Hadlock</a> is the Terrence Laughlin Chair in Finance at the Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business and College of Business Administration at the University of Pittsburgh. Before joining the Katz faculty in 2022, Hadlock was a Professor of Finance and Associate Dean at Michigan State University.

<a href="https://www.utimes.pitt.edu/news/new-katz-professor-left" target="_blank" rel="noopener">University Times</a> reports, around the same time Hadlock joined Pitt faculty, the Title IX coordinator at Michigan State University signed a formal complaint against him. The Times writes, “Two people reported being subject to unwelcome sexual contact by Hadlock, who was then business school associate dean, during an annual business gala in April 2022 attended by students and professors.”

An investigation report of the incident was made public in January 2023 and found that Hadlock did violate the school’s policies on relationship violence, sexual misconduct and Title IX while “heavily intoxicated” at the Gatsby Gala.

After the report became public, a Pitt spokesperson said:
“In light of the information that became public in January of 2023, the University’s Office of Compliance, Investigation and Ethics is reviewing this hiring process. Once this review is complete, the University will be positioned to determine the appropriate next steps.” 
Sanjay Gupta, former business dean at Michigan State, was forced to resign over the controversy partially due to his failure to report Hadlock’s behavior under the university’s guidelines.

According to an <a href="https://statenews.com/article/2023/03/woodruff-business-dean-removal-was-about-more-than-mandatory-reporting-failure" target="_blank" rel="noopener">August 2022 letter</a> addressed to the Board of Trustees, Michigan State’s Interim President Teresa Woodruff stated, “(Gupta) said he indicated to Dr. Hadlock that ‘I must let you go.’ Dr. Gupta (later) said he did not do so because he thought Dr. Hadlock was resigning and leaving MSU.”

As of publication, the University of Pittsburgh has not released any information about their <a href="https://pittnews.com/article/179458/news/report-finds-pitt-business-professor-engaged-in-non-consensual-sexual-contact-at-previous-michigan-state-job/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">investigation</a> into the hiring of Professor Hadlock. <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/beth-hoffman-70b1b79a" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Beth Hoffman</a> is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Behavioral and Community Health Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh. According to her LinkedIn profile, Hoffman’s research examines “the influence of television on education and health promotion” and the “characteristics of those who express anti-vaccine sentiment on Facebook and the history of anti-vaccine rhetoric and protests.”

In July 2023, Hoffman led a study titled, “<a href="https://www.cureus.com/articles/157628-utilizing-television-clips-for-graduate-medical-education-anti-racist-curricula-an-acceptability-study?score_article=true#!/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Utilizing Television Clips for Graduate Medical Education Anti-Racist Curricula: An Acceptability Study</a>.” The introduction begins by stating:
“Systemic racism continues to be a major problem plaguing every facet of American life; healthcare is no exception. Centuries of discrimination toward Black Americans have resulted in less access to appropriate education, funding, and encouragement, preventing them from having equal access to medical education.” 
The writers say that “edutainment”, which involves the incorporation of educational content into entertainment content, is one tool that can be used to fix this systemic racism. They say previous research has used clips from shows such as ER, Grey’s Anatomy, and House M.D. to address issues such as “anti-obesity bias,” so they “hypothesized that it would be a useful tool in teaching about race bias and anti-racism.”

According to the paper, the four topics represented in each pair of clips shown to participants were “(1) health disparities and stigmatizing language, (2) physician becoming jaded about the role of the healthcare system in addressing racism, (3) bias in clinical care, and (4) tokenism and the minority tax.”

However, the researchers do recognize there <a href="https://www.thecollegefix.com/teach-anti-racism-to-med-students-with-greys-anatomy-study/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">could be some problems</a> with trying to train medical students with TV clips, saying:
“Despite the numerous possible advantages to an edutainment approach in anti-racism curricula, educators undertaking this work must also employ a framework of cultural competence to navigate potentially challenging and emotionally charged discussions that may follow edutainment clips that begin such discussions.
“With diverse groups of participants, educators facilitating discussion need to understand various perspectives, defuse conflict, and have a trauma-informed approach to racist and microaggressive comments.” 
The researchers conclude:
“Edutainment with medical television shows may be a promising avenue for anti-racist curricular content for residents. The educational methods described here are being incorporated into a multi-pronged, hospital system wide graduate medical education anti-racist curriculum.”

<a href="https://www.lasalle.edu/news/faculty-expert/luisa-ossa-ph-d/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Luisa Ossa</a> is a Professor of Spanish and Area Chair of the Undergraduate Spanish Program at La Salle University. According to her university profile, her research interests include “Afro-Hispanic Literatures and Cultures, the Chinese presence in Latin America, and connections between racism and anti-Blackness in Latin America and the U.S.”

She is also the <a href="https://www.lasalle.edu/blog/2022/07/11/la-salle-unveils-new-black-studies-minor/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Program Director for the university’s Black Studies minor</a>, which was launched in the fall of 2022. Ossa said the program came about as a way to fill a “curriculum gap” and offer something that was “more representative of the diverse, equitable, and inclusive campus community.” The courses will cover many topics including, “systemic racism, social justice, health and wellness, education, intersectionality, cultural contributions, and anti-racist frameworks and scholarship.”

Ossa was featured in a <a href="https://www.lasalle.edu/blog/2021/06/29/la-salle-professor-brings-lessons-on-anti-racism-into-the-classroom/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">La Salle News</a> article titled, “La Salle Professor Brings Lessons on Anti-Racism Into the Classroom.” The article discusses how Ossa shows “racism’s pervasiveness” in her courses such as “Afro-Descendants in Latin America.” She says:
“I draw parallels between the U.S. and Latin America. I’ve shown students stories about Black women who are news anchors in the U.S. who wanted to wear their hair naturally and weren’t allowed and got fired. … There were Afro-Dominican women students in the course who were willing to share their personal experiences with these issues and their own struggles which was an impactful learning experience to their non-Black peers.” 
Ossa has also been an advocate for increased anti-racism and diversity coursework within STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) majors:
“In the past, science has been used to exploit Black people and other people of color. One of the most known examples is the Tuskegee Experiment, but there are many other examples. The erasure of Black scientists and mathematicians in curriculum is another example. Justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion and anti-racism curriculum are relevant to all fields.” 
Ossa participated in a June 2020 panel called, “Responding to Racism: A Lasallian Dialogue.” <a href="https://cruxnow.com/church-in-the-usa/2020/07/catholic-educators-urged-to-be-prisoners-of-prophetic-hope" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Crux Now</a> reports she “said that talk of Catholic institutions becoming anti-racist will ring hollow if they fail to ‘address the contradictions in the Lasallian and the broader Catholic world’ that arise from the ‘massive role that the Catholic Church played in racializing slavery in the Americas.’”

In a video clip released by Project Veritas, <a href="https://www.projectveritas.com/news/breaking-pro-antifa-high-school-teacher-in-california-admits-communist/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Mr. Gipe is heard bragging about his affiliations with Antifa and his eagerness to indoctrinate students.</a>

Many <a href="https://thepostmillennial.com/guns-knives-and-other-weapons-confiscated-from-suspects-at-portland-antifa-riot/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">members arm themselves with knives and firearms</a> to violently confront conservatives at events. In the Summer of 2021, <a href="https://thepostmillennial.com/us-attorneys-office-in-dc-refuses-to-investigate-attack-on-rand-paul/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">members of Antifa attacked Senator Rand Paul</a> and his wife as they walked through Washington D.C.
When sitting down for a conversation with an undercover Project Veritas reporter, Mr. Gipe describes himself politically, “as far left as you can go.” Continuing, he depicts his fantasy involving taking up arms and overthrowing the government in a communist revolution.
Throughout the video, Mr. Gipe can be seen wearing a shirt adorned with red and black flags and the slogan, “antifaschistische aktion.” The phrase and symbol were originally used by the <a href="https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2020/01/the_fascist_roots_behind_todays_justification_of_political_violence.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Communist Party of Germany (KPD) in the 1920s and early 1930s</a>. Founded, funded, and directed by the Soviet Union—and working alongside a fledgling NAZI party— the KPD hoped to spark a communist revolution in Germany that would overthrow the Weimar Republic.
In the video, Mr. Gipe can be heard describing his involvement both in Antifa groups throughout California and in organizing protests against right-wing groups in Sacramento. He proceeds to describe how he lists left-wing events on his classroom whiteboard—including Antifa protests—and bribes his students by offering them extra credit to attend.

<a href="https://www.wm.edu/sites/dhp/faculty/ciccariello-maher-george.php">Dr. George Ciccariello-Maher</a> is a Visiting Scholar of Decolonizing Humanities and Modern Languages and Literatures at the College of William and Mary. He previously taught in the Department of History and Politics at Drexel University.

From the College of William and Mary's website, his work at the Decolonizing Humanities Project is <a href="https://www.wm.edu/sites/dhp/decoloniality/index.php">described</a> as exploring, “how colonization, modernity, capitalism, and, most recently, neoliberalism has displaced an array of modes of living, thinking and being.  Decoloniality reveals “the dark side of modernity” and how it is built “on the backs” of “others.”

Ciccarello first came to notoriety for his racially inflammatory statements on twitter. On Christmas of 2016, he <a href="https://www.inquirer.com/philly/news/Drexel-officials-Professor-George-Ciccariello-Mahers-White-Genocide-tweet-was-utterly-reprehensible.html">tweeted</a> out,

“All I want for Christmas is White Genocide,”

and,

“To clarify: when the whites were massacred during the Haitian Revolution, that was a  good thing indeed.”

He also tweeted out,

“Some guy gave up his first-class seat for a uniformed soldier. People are thanking him. I’m trying not to vomit or yell about Mosul.”

When Ciccariello was confronted by <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ndkvgmGIQHQ">Tucker Carlson</a> over his tweets, he only proceeded to double-down. In the following exchange, he defended the academic veracity of his tweets by claiming, “performance art is scholarship.”

Ciccariello doesn’t shy away from utilizing violence to accomplish his radical beliefs. In an op-ed for <a href="https://www.salon.com/2015/05/04/riots_work_wolf_blitzer_and_the_washington_post_completely_missed_the_real_lesson_from_baltimore/">Salon</a>, he praised the riots that had engulfed Baltimore in 2015 in an article titled “Riots Work.” He wrote, “without the threat of insurgency in the streets, no charges would ever have been brought in the murder of Freddie Gray.” Obviously not a proponent of police, Ciccariello openly <a href="https://www.salon.com/2015/04/24/we_must_disband_the_police_body_cameras_arent_enough_only_radical_change_will_stop_cops_who_kill/">advocates</a> for the abolishment of police forces, describing them as, “originally slavecatchers.”

When not calling for the disbandment of our law enforcement, Ciccariello is an ardent defender of the socialist regime in Venezuela. He regularly <a href="https://www.counterpunch.org/2013/04/12/thatcher-is-dead-long-live-chavez/">praises</a> Hugo Chavez and has bizarrely <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nhYz1owM-uA&amp;feature=youtu.be">claimed</a> that Venezuela does not have corrupt elections.

Ciccariello doesn’t shy away from violent groups as well. In order to fight white-nationalism, Ciccarello called on Americans to embrace the radical group ANTIFA in an interview with <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WTv_hqjrmi8&amp;feature=youtu.be">Democracy Now</a> following the El Paso mass shooting. Although committed by a stated white nationalist, in the same interview Ciccariello placed the blame on Donald Trump for the deaths, claiming that his rhetoric on immigrants inspired the shooter’s rampage.  Ciccariello made similar accusations in a prior <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WTv_hqjrmi8&amp;feature=youtu.be">interview</a> about the Texas Church Massacre, alluding that “whiteness” and Trump’s stoking of white victimhood was to blame for the murders.

Stephen E. Hanson is the Chair of the Confucious Institute in addition to serving as the Vice-Provost for International Affairs and Director of the Reves Center for International Affairs at the College of William and Mary.

<a href="https://www.wm.edu/as/americanstudies/graduate/graddirectory/smoot_k.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kelsey Smoot</a> is a PH.D. Candidate in American Studies at the College of William &amp; Mary in Virginia.

In June 2020, Smoot penned an article for <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2020/jun/29/white-people-ally-black-people-sacrifice" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Guardian</a> titled, “White people say they want to be an ally to Black people. But are they ready for sacrifice?” In the piece, she argues that white Americans are unwilling to change any of their behaviors or attitudes in a way that would benefit black people. 

The piece was written in the midst of nationwide riots following George Floyd's death. While acknowledging that many of her white friends reached out to offer money and protect her “energy and emotional labor,” Smoot still accuses whites of silence, and therefore compliance, regarding white supremacy: 
“Unfortunately, good deeds will not dismantle systemic oppression. White kindness was unable to spare the lives of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, nor any of the countless other victims of White supremacy in our nation’s history.”
If whites wanted to perform true anti-racist work, Smoot argues, they should be willing to sacrifice future pay raises and close friendships for people of color: 
“Real allyship enacted by White Americans, with a clear objective to make equitable the lived experiences of individuals across racial lines, means a willingness to lose things….Refusing a pay raise at one’s job and insisting that it be reallocated to co-workers of color who are undoubtedly being underpaid. The loss of potentially every close relationship with other White friends and family members who refuse to acknowledge or amend their behaviors that reinforce systemic oppression.”
Smoot concludes that white people will never be willing to sacrifice their privilege, so all she can do is “prepare for another day of navigating White America.”

In another article written from that summer, Smoot <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2020/jul/04/juneteenth-not-the-fourth-of-july-was-the-real-independence-day">announces that she will no longer celebrate the Fourth of July</a>, as it represents an “exclusionary nationalist narrative.” Smoot writes that in adulthood, the idea of the holiday became “untenable” once she learned of America’s oppressive history:
“But as I moved into adulthood, learned the expansive and ongoing history of American imperialism, experienced blatant racism, homophobia, and transphobia, and internalized that my ancestors were held in bondage and considered chattel far beyond the date and year that I was supposed to consider the demarcation of American “freedom”, the idea of celebrating the holiday became untenable.”
Smoot further writes that she cannot celebrate America’s birth as she may be martyred in its current climate:
“In this current climate, as a Black American who is also queer and trans* identified, there is not a day that goes by when I don’t feel fear….I fear that my name might become a hashtag – my death made a viral internet sensation by onlookers recording my final breaths, as my life is taken by someone who swore to serve and protect me.” 
Smoot—<a href="https://queerinsomniac.me/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">who identifies as a “Black, queer, trans-masculine, and non-binary writer</a>”—has even shunned close family members and friends who incorrectly used her pronouns (they-them). In an article written for <a href="https://www.huffpost.com/entry/misgendering-they-them-pronouns-nonbinary_n_6269a65de4b01131b11e407e">HuffPost</a>, Smoot states that she is becoming increasingly intolerant of anyone mistakenly misgendering him, claiming that refusing to do so nullifies her identity. Acknowledging that she will lose the people closest to him, Smoot concludes this is still the proper course of action as “trans and nonbinary people are worth the effort.”

According to her biography, Smoot's research interests encompass “queer studies, race/racism, cultural studies, and social movements.” Smoot further blogs and writes poetry on her personal site, <a href="https://queerinsomniac.me/blog" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Queer Insomniac’s Musings</a>.

<a href="https://www.wm.edu/sites/dhp/faculty/sheehi-s.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Stephen Sheehi</a> is the Sultan Qaboos Eminent Professor of Middle East Studies at the College of William &amp; Mary. Dr. Sheehi also serves as the Faculty Director of the “Decolonizing Humanities Project.”

Although his position falls under the Humanities Department, the <a href="https://www.wm.edu/sites/dhp/index.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">official site for the project</a> states the field should not have to justify its “economic or practical values in higher education.” Rather, Sheehi argues that humanities are used for “tooling” students to participate in “irredeemable,” racist systems that perpetuate inequality: 

“The Decolonizing Humanities Project understands that the Humanities are structured by and complicit with the legacies of racism, sexism, patriarchy, settler-colonialism and colonialism.” 

Sheehi then accuses America of being built on land stolen from Native Americans.  The university, he claims, likewise continues to benefit from the labor of “kidnapped and enslaved Africans:”

“Decolonizing Humanities Project seeks to dismantle forms of settler-colonialism and racism, with special attention to anti-black and anti-indigenous racism, and how they continue to structure our lives in the university, Virginia, and the settler-colonial state now known as the United States.“

Sheehi states that higher education further perpetuates racial capitalism in the “settler colonial state known as the United States.” He vows to dismantle settler colonialism and capitalism through a process known as “decoloniality.” 

Under the tab, “<a href="https://www.wm.edu/sites/dhp/decoloniality/index.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">What is Decoloniality?</a>” Sheehi defines it as the study of the “matrix” of power and oppression created by colonialism. He then claims that colonialism’s effects can still be felt today as modern society was “built on the backs of others.” 

Decoloniality reveals "the dark side of modernity" and how it is built "on the backs" of "others," others that modernity racializes, erases, and/or objectifies. 

Continuing:

“(Decolonialism is) a way to explore colonization, settler-colonialism, racial capitalism (particularly as it grew out, in full racializing force,  with the enslavement of black Africans), modernity, and, most recently, neoliberalism and necrocapitalism and the ways in which they have displaced an array of modes of living, thinking and being in our natural world.”

Dr. Sheehi concludes by calling for the disruption of “settler-colonial logic” and decentering of “hetero-cisnormativity, gender hierarchies, and racial privilege.” 

The web page further lists a myriad of radical groups under the “<a href="https://www.wm.edu/sites/dhp/resources/index.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Resources</a>” column. One of them—titled, “DecolonizeThisPlace,”—is a violent, Antifa-aligned organization that is led by professor <a href="https://www.professorwatchlist.org/professor/aminhusain" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Amin Hussein</a>. A 2020 riot by the group resulted in 13 arrests and $100,000 in damages.

Sister Laura Nettles is an <a href="https://www.viterbo.edu/core-curriculum/vusm-faculty" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Assistant Professor of Religious Studies</a> and Executive Director for Mission and Social Justice at Viterbo University, which claims to be “the only Catholic university in the diocese of La Crosse.”
According to a section on the <a href="https://www.viterbo.edu/mission-and-ministry/catholic-franciscan-identity" target="_blank" rel="noopener">website</a> titled “What Makes Viterbo Catholic?”, the university lists its “commitment to upholding the gospel understanding of the sacredness of all human life.”
Sister Nettles has publicly advocated for the creation of a pro-choice club on campus. On August 22, 2022, Nettles <a href="https://www.prolifewi.org/blog/2022/8/25/viterbo-university-to-significantly-curtail-pro-life-activities-on-campus" target="_blank" rel="noopener">held a ‘Mission Convocation’</a> for all employees. During this event, an audience member asked her why a pro-choice club was not allowed to form on campus. She admitted that a male student approached her about a “Students for Choice” club, but stated:
“I would love to say yes to the club, but I asked him if he would be willing to consider a different name like a ‘Health Club’ or a ‘Reproductive Rights’ club. What the student described he wanted to do in the club was to really advocate for women’s rights in healthcare to which I said, ‘amen’ to. So the question was whether he would be willing to think of a different title for it but do much of the same work.”
An audience member then asked if the student-led pro-life club, V-Hawks for Life, should have to change its name. Nettles replied that because the Catholic church is pro-life, the club does not have to change its name. She added:
“However … we are significantly curtailing their activities &#8211; what they can do, what they can’t do; they have to actually jump through a lot of hoops to be able to do what they do, in a way that doesn’t feel great either.”

<a href="https://www.linguistics.ucsb.edu/people/mary-bucholtz" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. Mary Bucholtz</a> is a Professor of Linguistics at the University of California &#8211; Santa Barbara. Dr. Bucholtz’s areas of specialization include race, language, gender, sexuality, and African American English in California. She teaches larger, Gen-Ed courses for non-linguistic majors and is the author of “<a href="https://www.amazon.com/White-Kids-Language-Styles-Identity/dp/0521692040" target="_blank" rel="noopener">White Kids: Language, Race and Styles of Youth Identity</a>. “
<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Kx-LdeZ3EY" target="_blank" rel="noopener">In a lecture recorded in 2020</a> for the Linguistic Society for America, Dr. Bucholtz announced that she is “passionate about dismantling racism and white supremacy in linguistics” during a lecture on racial equity. She began the lecture with a Native American “land acknowledgment” and characterized herself as a white, cis female-identifying person who is a “racist in recovery.”
Dr. Bucholtz ended her portion of the lecture by arguing that white students devalue inclusivity because they are uncomfortable with losing their place of privilege. She told teachers that they will need to be ready to “push back against their pushback”.

In another presentation, Dr. Bucholtz stated that she focuses on <a href="https://docs.google.com/document/d/17ZF8hrFLlfWIU97nshTp_NtG9z1ElDAF/edit" target="_blank" rel="noopener">white linguists because they are the ones who have created, reproduced, and benefited from the racist and exclusionary practices of our discipline, so white people must be the ones to fix it</a>.

<a href="http://www.femst.ucsb.edu/people/mireille-miller-young">Dr. Mireille Miller-Young</a> is an Associate Professor of Feminist Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Miller was sentenced to three years’ probation after violently attacking a 16-year-old pro-life activist on campus. She was convicted of assault, theft, and destruction of property, but the University of Santa Barbara never fired her.

<a href="https://www.religion.ucsb.edu/people/faculty/rudy-busto/">Rudy Busto </a>is an Associate Professor at the University of California - Santa Barbara. His work is described as examining how “race structures state and civil society” and how the concept of race structures religion. 

As reported by <a href="https://www.campusreform.org/?ID=14987">Campus Reform</a>, Busto recently gave a lengthy presentation to one of his classes at the end of the semester in which he explained in detail why he believes that America is not an exceptional nation. He declared that “history has dispelled the notion of American Exceptionalism,” Busto listed off the reasons why he believed that America was no longer exceptional, including losing the Vietnam War and the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

<a href="https://www.religion.ucsb.edu/people/student/timothy-snediker/">Timothy Snediker</a> works in the Department of Religious Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He first rose to notoriety for tweeting about his desire to assassinate Jesus Christ.

Snediker’s animosity towards Christ stems from his belief that the concepts of the individual and capitalism, both of which he opposes, arose out of Christianity during the enlightenment in Europe.

In the <a href="http://jcrt.org/religioustheory/2016/05/18/theodicy-of-money-the-scene-and-subject-of-forgiveness/">Theodicy of Money - The Scene of and Subject Forgiveness</a>, Snediker writes:

“Against the standard left critique of capitalism, which presupposes a certain secularism and a certain atheism, one must rather grapple with the peculiar verve of a comment made by Giorgio Agamben: “God did not die; he was transformed into money...To the identity of Christianity and capitalism corresponds the identity of God and money….Today, it is simply not enough to be an atheist, because, in the last instance, everyone believes in money." 

As written in <a href="https://jcrt.org/archives/14.1/snediker.pdf">The Autonomy of the Now</a>, he further expands on his position:

“Our hypothesis is that, under the brutal conditions of global capitalist hegemony, resistance necessitates the affirmation of the intrinsic instability and artificiality of identity…”

“...resistance to power necessitates a two-fold refusal of the authority and sovereignty of both Christianity and Secularism…”

“Secularization is the strategic means by which the West (which is to say, Christendom, or European colonialism, or, simply, Christianity) effects its accumulations, its appropriations, and its dominations.....Christianity’s hegemony has not waned; it has metamorphosed and Metastasized."

“Christianity is the identitarian religion par excellence: it ceaselessly works to individualize, legitimate and commoditize one’s identity....this is how Christianity was constituted as a privileged instrument of power”

“Resistance to power necessitates, therefore, a restoration of the autonomy of the now, which in turn requires a two-fold counter-strategy: one the one hand, an acceptance of the instability of identity and the concurrent affirmation of our becoming-other; on the other hand, a refusal of power, which, in the era of global capitalism amounts to a critique of the secular, or, again, a critique of Christianity. “

"Our imperative is to join the struggle for subjectivity, to struggle to speak truthfully about ourselves, to discover that relation to the outside which allows us, in accordance with Nietzsche’s injunction, to become what we are—to become, in a word, anti-Christian."

Snediker’s vitriol towards Christianity exploded when asked what he would do if he could travel 2000 years back in time, he <a href="https://notthebee.com/article/asked-what-hed-do-if-he-could-go-back-in-time-religion-professor-says-easy-i-would-find-and-assassinate-jesus-of-nazareth">tweeted</a>:

“Easy. I would find and assassinate Jesus of Nazareth.” 

He then proceeded to double-down, tweeting:

“Theologically speaking, it would be really important to get him before his calling and ministry begins, so that gives me roughly a decade to make it to Palestine, locate the man, and make my move. I don’t want to be the heroic Judas avant la lettre”

She teaches larger, Gen-Ed courses for non-linguistic majors and is the author of “<a href="https://www.amazon.com/White-Kids-Language-Styles-Identity/dp/0521692040" target="_blank" rel="noopener">White Kids: Language, Race and Styles of Youth Identity</a>. “

<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Kx-LdeZ3EY" target="_blank" rel="noopener">In a lecture recorded in 2020</a> for the Linguistic Society for America, Dr. Bucholtz announced that she is “passionate about dismantling racism and white supremacy in linguistics” during a lecture on racial equity. She began the lecture with a Native American “land acknowledgment” and characterized herself as a white, cis female-identifying person who is a “racist in recovery.”

Dr. Bucholtz ended her portion of the lecture by arguing that white students devalue inclusivity because they are uncomfortable with losing their place of privilege. She told teachers that they will need to be ready to “push back against their pushback”.

During another part of the Q&amp;A portion of her lecture, one listener asked how marginalized students in conservative communities can connect with one another. In her response, Dr. Bulcholtz urged students to take steps in order to protect themselves.

Dr. <a href="https://www.csusb.edu/profile/dny" target="_blank" rel="noopener">David Yaghoubian</a> is a Professor of History at <a href="https://www.csusb.edu/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">California State University - Santa Barbara</a>. 

In a series of articles and interviews reviewed by the Professor Watchlist team, Dr. Yaghoubian excuses despotic regimes around the world, demonizes the nation of Israel, and praises the terrorist group, Hezbollah. 

During <a href="https://en.mehrnews.com/news/175145/US-led-propaganda-targets-any-govt-that-opposes-US-hegemony" target="_blank" rel="noopener">one interview with Mehr News Agency</a>—an Iranian-based news station <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20061227215730/http://www.adl.org/PresRele/HolocaustDenial_83/4868_83.htm" target="_blank" rel="noopener">notorious for featuring segments that dispute the veracity of the Holocaust</a>—Dr. Yaghoubian offers high praise for Syrian autocrat, Bashar-al Assad. 

The professor describes him—along with Venezuelan dictator Nicholas Maduro—as a “popularly elected leader” who is unfairly portrayed as a “thug, terrorist, criminal, and often murderer” and is just following his electoral mandate. According to Dr. Yaghoubian, Assad is vilified by Western media in part for his refusal to serve as “lapdogs” for Israeli Zionists.  

Since the Syrian Civil War erupted in 2011, Assad has been accused of <a href="https://www.wsj.com/articles/10-000-bodies-inside-syrian-president-bashar-al-assads-crackdown-1406315472" target="_blank" rel="noopener">torturing thousands of political dissidents and prisoners of war to death.</a>  Assad <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/05/27/AR2007052701117.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">further runs unopposed</a> during each election, ensuring victory.  

Dr. Yaghoubian further maligns Israel as an apartheid state that is committing ethnic cleansing of Arabs. Launching into a polemic during an interview for Tehran Times—another Iranian-owned TV station—he states that <a href="https://www.tehrantimes.com/news/460714/Selling-out-Palestine-will-not-result-in-regional-security-and" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Gaza is undergoing a “murderous onslaught” by Israel</a>. 

Dr. Yaghoubian further states that Israel forces Gazans to drink poisoned water. He even goes so far as to allege the “Zionist jailers” are placing Gazans on a  caloric-restrictive diet in their “open-air prison.”

Dr. Yaghoubian maintains that Israel directs America’s foreign policy to benefit the “<a href="https://en.irna.ir/news/83255687/US-academic-Pompeo-is-a-Zionist-zealot" target="_blank" rel="noopener">promotion of Zionist colonialism</a>” across the Middle East. The same article claims Israel is directing the United States’s foreign policy against the terror organization Hezbollah, whom he praises. 

Founded in 1982, Hezbollah is an Iranian-funded and directed terror organization based in Lebanon that funds itself through drug smuggling <a href="https://centerforsecuritypolicy.org/hezbollah-the-worlds-leading-narco-terrorist-organization/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">with Latin-American cartels and cells in North America</a>. The group is known for<a href="https://www.investigativeproject.org/profile/131/hizballah" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> launching terror attacks across the world</a> that have claimed American lives.  

Dr. Yaghoubian urges the United States to recognize Hezbollah as a “natural ally” for stabilizing the Levant. He further lauds the group for its broad domestic support and social services. 

This is not the sole time Dr. Yaghoubian has praised Islamic fundamentalists. While condemning the <a href="https://www.foxbusiness.com/markets/irans-gen-soleimani-killed-in-airstrike-at-baghdad-airport" target="_blank" rel="noopener">killing of Qasem Soleimani by an American drone strike in January 2020</a>, a subsequent article by the professor praised him as an Iranian hero. 

Soleimani was a General in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC)—composed of Iran’s elite military units—until his death. The group was <a href="https://2017-2021.state.gov/u-s-designates-islamic-revolutionary-guard-corps-as-a-foreign-terrorist-organization/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">designated as a foreign terrorist organization in 2019</a>.  

As commander of the Quds Force, he was <a href="https://centerforsecuritypolicy.org/qassem-soleimani-ran-ied-program-to-kill-and-maim-us-coalition-troops/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">responsible for Iran’s international subversive and terrorist operations</a>. It is estimated that <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/iran-responsible-for-deaths-of-more-than-600-american-troops-in-iraq" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the deaths of over 600 Americans in Iraq through roadside bombs</a> may be traced back to Soleimani and the IRGC. 

In an interview following the strike, Dr. Yaghoubian <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20220122014610/https://en.abna24.com/news/gen-soleimani-assassination-motivates-axis-of-resistance-to-continue-his-path-us-academic_1215378.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">alleges that Soleimani was murdered at the direction of America’s “Zionist pied pipers.”</a> He claims the attack was carried out on behalf of Israel so that Zionists may continue to conduct ethnic cleansing in Palestine. He vows the “craven murder” will only motivate an “axis of resistance” against the United States and urges other nations to follow the “heroic” path of Soleimani and Muhandes, the other IRGC general killed in the strike.    

<a href="https://www.csusb.edu/profile/dny" target="_blank" rel="noopener">According to his university profile,</a> his research includes work on Modern-Iran, Iran-US relations, national identity, and minorities in the Middle East. 

The Professor Watchlist Team reached out to Dr. Yaghoubian for comment but has not received a reply by publication.

<a href="https://www.polsci.ucsb.edu/people/christopher-sebastian-parker" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Christopher Sebastian Parker P.h.D</a>. is a Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of California, Santa Barbara. According to his university profile, his academic specialties are “American Politics, Identity, Race, Ethnicity, [and] Public Opinion.”

In 2013, Parker published a book about the American Tea Party movement called <a href="https://press.princeton.edu/books/hardcover/9780691151830/change-they-cant-believe-in" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Change They Can't Believe In: The Tea Party and Reactionary Politics in America </a>

In the book, Parker draws “connections between the Tea Party and right-wing reactionary movements of the past, including the Know Nothing Party, the Ku Klux Klan of the 1920s, and the John Birch Society,” according to the Princeton University Press overview.

In 2016, Parker <a href="https://prospect.org/power/trump-s-racist-appeals-silver-lining/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">wrote an article</a> for The American Prospect entitled “Do Trump’s Racist Appeals Have a Silver Lining?” Parker cites his claim that Trump is racist on the former President’s <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/fact-checker/wp/2015/07/08/donald-trumps-false-comments-connecting-mexican-immigrants-and-crime/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">statement about immigrants</a> during his 2016 campaign, in which Trump said:​​“They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.” 

Parker claims a new racism has emerged to replace the racism of segregation and Jim Crow:  
“With the civil-rights laws that made segregation illegal, and the death of Jim Crow in the South, this old-fashioned racism gave way to a "new racism" built not on laws but on racial stereotypes.”
He also argues ,“Certain code words often accompan[y] this new racism. In the beginning, the term "equal opportunity" was often paired with such code words and phrases as “law and order" and "welfare queen.” 

In a 2020 article called <a href="https://www.seattletimes.com/opinion/check-your-patriotism/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“Check your Patriotism”</a>, Parker states that the African-Americans killed by police officers, such as Sandra Bland and George Floyd,  “were effectively lynched.”

Regarding the Fourth of July, Parker wrote, “this holiday is a sham, a fraud to the 13% of the population whose forebears were slaves. By any metric, Black people remain second-class citizens. Whether it’s life <a href="https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4984780/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">expectancy</a>, <a href="https://www.abebooks.com/Black-Wealth-White-New-Perspective-Racial/30080054029/bd?cm_mmc=ggl-_-US_Shopp_Trade-_-used-_-naa&amp;gclid=Cj0KCQjwudb3BRC9ARIsAEa-vUtyzocLl5j6TVm8N2-Jl80c8sU2x6MN9ReTaS5blYnVIvE8Uz5OLygaAg4xEALw_wcB" target="_blank" rel="noopener">wealth</a> or achieving a <a href="https://www.americanprogress.org/issues/education-postsecondary/reports/2018/05/23/451186/neglected-college-race-gap-racial-disparities-among-college-completers/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">college education</a>, Black people lag behind whites. (I can easily identify other criteria, but space limits recommend otherwise.)”

Yet, in the following paragraph of the article, he claims that the solution “to get the country on the right track”, is patriotism, which requires sacrifice and “commitment to the values on which the country is founded: freedom, equality, tolerance.” He claims patriotism was the motivation behind previous American progressive movements like “the women’s movement, labor movement and the civil rights movement.”

<a href="https://www.jjay.cuny.edu/cot/staff">Dr. Charles Strozier</a> is a Professor for the John Jay College of Criminal Justice. Dr. Strozier argues law-abiding citizens become Taliban terrorist extremists due to climate change. Strozier is a proponent of the idea that the number-one national security threat is climate change, a view espoused by Bernie Sanders among others. He asks, along with his research partner Kelly Berkel, “If more Americans knew how glacial melt contributes to catastrophic weather in Afghanistan—potentially strengthening the Taliban and imperiling Afghan girls who want to attend school—would we drive more hybrids and use millions fewer plastic bags?”

<a href="http://www.jjay.cuny.edu/faculty/taryn-fivek">Taryn Fivek</a> is an adjunct professor of Economics at John Jay College in New York City. A fanatical activist, she regularly makes appearances at demonstrations and travels frequently for lectures across the country on behalf of the Workers World Party (WWP).

Formed in 1959, the <a href="https://books.google.com/books?id=6vOzIPWKrwgC&amp;printsec=frontcover&amp;source=gbs_ge_summary_r&amp;cad=0#v=onepage&amp;q&amp;f=false">WWP is a Marxist party</a> inspired by the Bolshevik Revolution and Leon Trotsky. The WWP presented itself as a more radical alternative to the socialist parties of the time. The WWP deploys activists to demonstrations all over the country, including the 2017 Inauguration Day riots (<a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/public-safety/protesters-who-destroyed-property-on-inauguration-day-part-of-well-organized-group/2017/01/21/096678c8-dfeb-11e6-ad42-f3375f271c9c_story.html?utm_term=.2647d2b32eb6">J20 Riots</a>), and marches to <a href="https://dailycaller.com/2017/08/16/woman-who-destroyed-durham-confederate-statue-is-a-pro-north-korea-marxist/?utm_campaign=atdailycaller&amp;utm_source=Twitter&amp;utm_medium=Social">topple Confederate statues</a>. Staunchly anti-American, the WWP frequently <a href="https://www.workers.org/2012/world/peoples_korea_0126/">defends the North Korean dictatorship</a>, claiming the <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pnzBEbuZPIw&amp;t=602s&amp;ab_channel=WorkersWorldParty">DPRK offers women more rights than Western Nations. </a>

Fivek is a frequent speaker at WWP meetings and often supports replacing capitalism with communism.  She has admitted to her involvement in the organization of the  <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E0wZV5nB6Sg&amp;t=5s&amp;ab_channel=WorkersWorldParty">J20 Riots</a>, claiming “only communism can smash fascism.”

Fivek has spoken fondly of <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kmwr7SSglhM&amp;t=8s&amp;ab_channel=WorkersWorldParty">attending Venezuelan conferences with dictator Nicholas Maduro</a>. A <a href="https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/hayesbrown/a-twitter-account-that-denies-people-are-starving-in-syria-i">2016 Buzzfeed report</a> identified Fivek as the anonymous author of a blog and associated Twitter handle that defended Syrian dictator Bashar Al-Assad, who is known for brutally <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2019/05/11/world/middleeast/syria-torture-prisons.html">torturing and murdering Syrian citizens</a>.

Speaking before a 2017 protest, Fivek condemned President Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. <a href="https://youtu.be/QdLUHeN5I1U?t=2645">She lauded the “Palestinian Vanguard's,” violent resistance to Israel</a>, praised<a href="https://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/palestinian-rocket-and-mortar-attacks-against-israel"> indiscriminate Hamas attacks.</a>  She described Israel as a “Zionist entity” that is at the bidding of globalists and big banks.

Aminta Ossom is a <a href="https://hrp.law.harvard.edu/faculty/aminta-ossom/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Clinical Instructor and Lecturer on Law</a> at Harvard University. Her research interests and teaching consist of equality, inclusion, economic and social justice, as well as human rights diplomacy and the role of identity in advocacy.
Ossom was featured in a 2020 Harvard Law Today article titled “<a href="https://hls.harvard.edu/today/event-series-explores-racial-justice-and-human-rights/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Event Series Explores Racial Justice and Human Rights</a>.” She hosted a series of talks “between students, scholars, and practitioners on the role that race plays both in the practice and substance of international human rights work.” When asked what inspired her to convene the event series, Ossom said,
“The series is inspired most directly by the ongoing discussions about systemic racism that have accompanied protests for racial justice around the world…Observations about human rights practice can spark ideas that lead to great legal scholarship.”

The research paper “is intended to serve that goal [of antiracist work], turning the focus inward to interrogate how the status quo of a clinic’s structure, practices, and teaching methods might contribute to racial inequities in the learning environment and legal field.”
During a <a href="https://youtu.be/zRG0pQ_pzio" target="_blank" rel="noopener">virtual discussion</a>, “Human Rights, Civil Rights, and the Struggle for Racial Justice,” Ossom joined a panel of social justice activists to discuss the legacy of slavery, race violence, and police brutality. Ossom primarily served as the moderator but joined the conversation to share thoughts on the “defund the police” movement:
“I’m also hearing, too, that issues of trust aren’t just issues of trust for the police. They’re also issues of trust for systems of education, nutritional security, water and sanitation, [and] in other systems&#8230;But I should also point out that there’s also distrust among other institutions because of the fact that they failed to provide for Black American communities.

<a href="http://ethics.harvard.edu/people/danielle-allen">Dr. Danielle Allen</a> is a Professor of Ethics at Harvard. She said that the rise of Donald Trump is just like the rise of Hitler.

<a href="https://divinity.wfu.edu/academics/faculty/jonathan-l-walton/">Dr. Jonathan L. Walton</a>, Dean of the School of Divinity at Wake Forest University and formerly of Harvard University, called the NRA a "domestic terrorist organization". In a sermon on campus after the Las Vegas mass shooting, Walton, who has a Ph.D. in religion and society from Princeton, blamed "Our cultural anxiety, toxic masculinity, and racial, religious, and ethnic bigotries [for] eating away at the soul of this nation," Walton later calls President Donald Trump a "Madman" who "embodies the worst aspects of our country's cultural disease."

<a href="https://hls.harvard.edu/faculty/mark-tushnet/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Mark Tushnet</a> is a Professor of Law at Harvard Law School. According to Tushnet’s faculty profile his research interest “includes students of constitutional review in the United States and around the world and the creation of other ‘institutions for protecting constitutional democracy.’”

In May 2016, the <a href="https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2016/may/10/harvard-professor-start-treating-christians-nazis/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Washington Times</a> featured Tushnet in an article titled “Harvard professor: Start treating Christian conservatives like Nazis.” The Times said: 
“Mr. Tushnet said liberals should stop being so hesitant to advance their agenda through the judiciary, saying a majority of federal judges have been appointed by Democrat presidents, and they need not worry ‘reversal by the Supreme Court now that former Associate Justice Antonin Scalia is dead.”
Tushnet wrote a <a href="https://balkin.blogspot.com/2016/05/abandoning-defensive-crouch-liberal.html">blog post</a> that same year where he challenged readers to “abandon defensive-crouch liberalism” and to “aggressively exploit the ambiguities and loopholes in unfavorable precedents that aren’t worth overruling.”

On August 1, 2023, <a href="https://campusreform.org/article?id=23715" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Campus Reform reported</a> that Tushnet sent an open letter to the Biden Administration wherein he “labeled the [SCOTUS] conservative majority as ‘MAGA justices,’ implying the judges have a political relationship to former President Donald Trump…”

Campus Reform noted how Tushnet “used the recent ruling on affirmative action as an example and proposed that Biden could emphasize that the ruling applies only to certain college institutions, while still vigorously pursuing affirmative action in other contexts…”

<a href="https://balkin.blogspot.com/2023/07/an-open-letter-to-biden-administration.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">In the letter</a>, Tushnet states: 
“We do not believe that President Biden should simply ignore every MAGA ruling. The President should act when MAGA justices issue high-stakes rulings that are based on gravely mistaken constitutional interpretations…Such actions could help contain the grave threat posed by MAGA justices.”
He continues:
“In this particular historical moment, MAGA justices pose a grave threat to our most fundamental commitments because they rule consistently to undermine democracy and to curtail fundamental rights, and because many of their rulings are based on misleading and untrue claims.”

Dr. Michelle Morse is an internal medicine and public health doctor who, according to her <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/michelle-morse-251a0ba1/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">LinkedIn</a> biography, “works to achieve health equity through global solidarity, social medicine and anti-racism education, and activism.” Her <a href="https://backend.professorwatchlist.org/about/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">faculty biography</a> describes her position as “an assistant professor at Harvard Medical School/Brigham and Women's Hospital and co-founder of the EqualHealth and Social Medicine Consortium.”

Morse has several, notable publications, including “<a href="https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33640157/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Reparations for Black American descendants of persons enslaved in the U.S. and their potential impact on SARS-CoV-2 transmission,</a>” and “<a href="https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jama-health-forum/fullarticle/2789583" target="_blank" rel="noopener">How to Act Upon Racism- not Race- as a Risk Factor</a>.” The former publication, regarding reparations, made the claim that the United States should pursue racial-justice interventions, including reparations payments, to ameliorate racial disparities that originated through COVID-19.

According to a report by <a href="https://www.campusreform.org/article?id=23630" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Campus Reform</a>, Morse was featured as a keynote speaker for a medical residency graduation ceremony. <a href="https://onebrooklynhealth.org/about-us" target="_blank" rel="noopener">One Brooklyn Health</a>, a New York-based network of hospitals, held its ceremony on June 7, 2023, that included Dr. Michelle Morse as the keynote speaker for the second consecutive year.

Morse began her speech by mentioning contributors to what she called “scary times,” including:

“Misinformation about what is contained in COVID vaccines, misinformation about the ways public school teachers instruct students about our country’s violent founding and enslavement, settler colonialism, patriarchy, structural racism, or what really happened on January 6.”

She recalled her experiences during the AIDS epidemic and how it motivated her to become an “even more radicalized student activist,” and that she returned to the United States to “do more direct activism for social justice during residency.” Within the speech, she also asserted that “the current state of our country is unfair and unjust towards people of color, period.”

After the speech, a graduate attendee shared some thoughts with a Campus Reform reporter, saying that many students are discontent with the rise of woke ideology in the medical field, but are afraid to speak up because they feel as though they are “slaves to debt,” and cannot afford to risk losing their jobs by speaking out.

<a href="https://ghsm.hms.harvard.edu/faculty-staff/michelle-evelyn-morse">Michelle Evelyn Morse</a>, M.D. is a Instructor of Medicine and an Affiliate in the Department of Global Health and Social Medicine at Harvard University.  She is also co-founder of the <a href="http://www.socialmedicineconsortium.org/campaign-against-racism/">Campaign Against Racism</a>, which describes itself as an organization that seeks to “dismantle structural racism and its effects on health around the world.”

In an interview with <a href="https://www.pri.org/stories/2020-06-02/health-care-part-systems-oppression-says-harvard-medicine-professor">The World</a>, Morse outlined what she believes is structural oppression in the healthcare field. She explained how the Coronavirus is exposing divides caused by racism:

“And I think what we're seeing with the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on communities of color is that these are the fault lines that have existed for generations. And the sources are the very social arrangement that puts white people on top and black and brown people on the bottom.” 

 Morse has admitted that the long-term goal of her organization is to destroy capitalism, saying, “...the systems of racial capitalism and structural racism that we're trying to impact and upend and break down are going to take much, much longer” 

Morse is also very candid about utilizing the coronavirus pandemic to accomplish her organization’s ambitions of fundamentally transforming the country: 

“We have to seize on this moment. We have to make sure that health workers are not just assumed to be the heroes of COVID-19, that we actually do the work of upending the sources of oppression that have led to these inequities and that we recognize that that takes time and that that takes constant pressure.”

<a href="https://hds.harvard.edu/people/cornel-r-west">Dr. Cornel West</a> is a former Professor of the Practice of Public Philosophy at Harvard University and a Professor Emeritus at Princeton University. West is also a member of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) and has used the organization’s platform to <a href="https://www.dsausa.org/democratic-left/cornel_west_endorses_bernie_sanders/">endorse</a> Bernie Sanders for president.  

West is known for his vocal opposition to Donald Trump, <a href="https://www.campusreform.org/?ID=14389">describing</a> him at a rally for Bernie Sanders as a “neo-fascist gangster.”

West is also notable for his mistrust of the official narrative of 9/11. As <a href="https://www.campusreform.org/?ID=5054">reported</a> by Campus Reform, he relayed his suspicion when asked if 9/11 was an inside job during the Million Muslim March in Washington D.C. “At this point, I’m still uncertain. I think there might be a possibility but my hunch is that with Bin Laden’s definitive investment, he must have had something to do with it,” explained West.

Among West’s other peculiar beliefs, he is an avowed socialist that has served as an honorary chair for the DSA. In an <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4zYAH-BZZTs">interview</a> with Laura Flanders, he praised Karl Marx for having an “indispensable” analysis of America, declaring that American capitalism forces people to live in “wage slavery.” When <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kuc6C2_Txmw">challenged</a> by Tucker Carlson for his support of Socialism, most notably for its repeated and abysmal failures, West deflected and accused the US of interfering in preventing the implementation of authentic socialism in places like Venezuela.

Perhaps the most disturbing example of Dr. West’s radical beliefs is his sustained relationship and defense of notorious Nation of Islam (NOI) leader, Louis Farrakhan. 

Farrakhan is noted for his virulent and antisemitic remarks praise of Adolf Hitler made during NOI sermons:

Despite a bevy of disgusting remarks, Dr. West continues to collaborate with and defend Farrakhan. He most recently <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QfC-z80GCSk">appeared</a> with him at an event in Chicago, hosted by PBS, to discuss issues in the black community. Numerous other academics and community leaders were present. His association with Farrakhan goes back decades, as is exhibited in a lecture given at Harvard University where he <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2KwhXPXjjMw">flouted</a> his agreement with him that white supremacy is ingrained in America. In another lecture,  Dr. West openly <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6qmuSqlvWE4">admitted</a> that he works with Farrakhan. 

When <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZwhYShH-pE">pressed</a> by Roland Marted about his relationship with Farrakhan, West refused to disavow him. West responded that “people need to stop lying about my brother,” and denied that Farrakhan had ever made anti-Semitic remarks. West went on to praise Farrakhan for his “consistency” on white supremacy.   

Dr. West has also openly embraced ANTIFA. <a href="https://www.democracynow.org/2020/6/1/cornel_west_us_moment_of_reckoning">Appearing</a> on Democracy Now!, Dr. West claimed that ANTIFA “saved his life” when protesting in Charlottesville and lambasted the Trump administration's decision to label ANTIFA a terrorist organization:

“...ANTIFA saved my life in Charlottesville. There’s no doubt about it, that they provided the security, you see. So the very notion that they become candidates for a terrorist organization, but the people who were trying to kill us — the Nazis, the Klan — they’re not candidates for terrorist organization status — but that’s what you’re going to get. You’re going to get a Trump-led neofascist backlash and clampdown on what is going on. We ought to be very clear about that. The neofascism has that kind of obsession with militaristic imposition in the face of any kind of disorder. And so we’ve got to be fortified for that.”

Cornel West is a vocal critic of Israel. In 2014 - though aware that terrorist group Hamas was launching thousands of rockets into Israeli civilian areas - he nonetheless <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AvFVnRfpj7w&amp;feature=youtu.be&amp;t=281">accused</a> Israel of state-sponsored terrorism and urged “resistance” on behalf of the Palestinians.

<a href="https://hls.harvard.edu/faculty/directory/10048/Bartholet">Elizabeth Bartholet</a> is the Morris Wasserstein Public Interest Professor of Law and Faculty Director of the Child Advocacy Program at Harvard University. Bartholet’s work is primarily centered around child welfare. She <a href="https://bartholet.wpengine.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/children.pdf">believes</a> that “poverty and social justice are the root causes of most child maltreatment” and that early childhood intervention by social services is needed to prevent abuse. 

Bartholet is a vocal and visceral opponent of home-schooling, describing it as “near-absolute parental power” and “inconsistent” with the human rights of children. In a <a href="https://arizonalawreview.org/pdf/62-1/62arizlrev1.pdf">paper written for the Arizona Law Review</a>, she advocates for an outright ban on homeschooling. Bartholet sees homeschooling as a danger to society, and accuses parents who decide to remove their children from public schools of promoting segregation and misogyny:  

“...parents can now keep their children at home in the name of homeschooling free from any real scrutiny as to whether or how they are educating their children. Many homeschool because they want to isolate their children from ideas and values central to our democracy, determined to keep their children from exposure to views that might enable autonomous choice about their future lives. Many promote racial segregation and female subservience. Many question science. Abusive parents can keep their children at home free from the risk that teachers will report them to child protection services. Some homeschool precisely for this reason.”

Bartholet repeats and expands on her position, claiming that homeschooling may lead to child abuse: 

“Parents can choose to teach that biblical truth trumps all, that all science is false science, that women should be educated to be subservient to men, that people of color are inferior to whites, that people with nontraditional sexual orientations or gender identities should be “cured” or condemned. Parents can choose to put their children to work, notwithstanding child labor laws. Parents can choose to beat their children, starve them, or chain them up…”

Bartholet then critiques the inability to enact any legislation due to the “outdated nature of the Constitution, 

“The U.S. Constitution with its negative rights structure is an anomaly, outdated and inadequate by the standards of the rest of the world Negative rights— rights to be free from state intervention—are particularly inadequate for children...The U.S. Constitution’s focus on negative rights represents an older western constitutional tradition, “increasingly out of step with emerging constitutional norms…”

Bartholet’s hostility towards homeschooling appears to stem from the fact that a disproportionate amount of these parents are conservative Christians and not progressives: 

“It is the religious ideologues who dominate the homeschooling movement...Nor is there any other significant advocacy organization designed to represent the views of the highly educated nonreligious homeschoolers, the descendants of the John Holt progressive wing of the homeschooling movement.”

Bartholet had been slated to <a href="https://www.campusreform.org/?ID=14850">appear</a> at a Harvard-sponsored summit that was described as an “anti-homeschooling conference.” Titled “<a href="https://cap.law.harvard.edu/homeschooling-summit-june-18-19-2020/">Homeschooling Summit: Problems, Politics, and Prospects for Reform</a>,” it has since been postponed after receiving fierce backlash.

Dr. David R. Williams is a <a href="https://scholar.harvard.edu/davidrwilliams/home" target="_blank" rel="noopener">tenured professor at Harvard University</a>. He specializes in several subjects, including Public Health, Sociology, and African American Studies. Dr. Williams has also delivered many lectures and written a substantial number of publications that discuss discrimination and racism in the United States, particularly in healthcare, and the negative health impact conservatives have on Democrats and minorities.

In 2016, Dr. Williams appeared in a TED Talk titled, “<a href="https://www.ted.com/talks/david_r_williams_how_racism_makes_us_sick/transcript?language=en" target="_blank" rel="noopener">How Racism Makes Us Sick</a>”. In this 16 minute video, he discusses how stereotypes in the subconscious minds of healthcare professionals lead to lesser quality care for minorities. He attributes this to implicit biases and explains how it’s an unconscious process that occurs “even among the most well-intended individuals.” According to Williams, when a person of color is being treated by a non-minority medical professional, that provider holds unconscious and inherent biases that cause them to unknowingly provide lesser quality healthcare.

A topic Dr. Williams discusses often, particularly on Twitter, is white privilege and supremacy in politics. In an <a href="https://scholar.harvard.edu/files/davidrwilliams/files/williams_medlock_nejm_elections_and_health_2017.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">article published by the New England Journal of Medicine</a> in 2017, Dr. Williams alleges that President Donald Trump’s candidacy reignited pre-existing hostile attitudes towards racial and ethnic minorities and migrants. He goes on to describe how Democrats in particular experienced negative health effects after the 2016 election, as they feel they are direct targets of hostility and discrimination, particularly white American conservatives.

He further accuses the conservative-run Tea Party, which materialized after the election of Barack Obama, of increasing racial animosity in the United States. Dr. Williams claims a large uptick in racism on social media occurred after Obama’s election, as well as a resurgence of historically racist stereotypes. He attributes all of this to the Tea Party.

<a href="https://www.britannica.com/topic/Tea-Party-movement" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Tea Party</a> is an organization that was created in response to the 2008 financial and housing crisis in the United States. Outraged by the Obama administration’s policies - such as the mortgage bailouts in 2009 - the Tea Party was born. <a href="https://www.teaparty.org/about-us/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">According to their website</a>, the Tea Party claims to have millions of members nationwide, consisting of Democrats, Republicans, Libertarians, and Independents alike.

Dr. Williams is also credited with developing the “<a href="https://scholar.harvard.edu/davidrwilliams/node/32397" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Everyday Discrimination Scale</a>” that is widely used as a measure of subjective experiences of discrimination in order to measure feelings of racism. This scale is used in schools to measure students’ perceived level of discrimination in their everyday lives. On the flip side, if students score very low on the scale, teachers and professors want to know why students think they aren’t being discriminated against. This typically boils down to the color of their skin.

Claudine Gay is the Edgerly Family Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Harvard University — which is the largest division of the university. She’s also a Wilbur A. Cowett Professor of Government and African and African-American Studies.

<a href="https://www.fas.harvard.edu/pages/dean-claudine-gay" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Professor Gay’s university profile</a> states, “[S]ince 2006, Gay has studied political behavior, considering issues in her research such as: how the election of minority officeholders affects citizens’ perceptions of their government…how neighborhood environments shape racial and political attitudes among black Americans…and the consequences of housing mobility programs for political participation among the poor.”

<a href="https://scholar.harvard.edu/cgay/home" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Gay’s personal statement</a> says, “I bring many of these interests to my undergraduate and graduate advising and teaching, including my courses on Post-Civil Rights Black Politics; Democratic Citizenship; and Politics of Race, Ethnicity and Immigration.” 

In a publication titled <a href="https://scholar.harvard.edu/files/cgay/files/political_behavior_vol_36_p99-124.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Knowledge Matters: Policy Cross-pressures and Black Partisanship</a>, Gay states, in part, “Political observers have long recognized the socially conservative tendencies of the Black mass public. In stark contrast to their views on racial and social welfare, African Americans are firmly anchored to the political right of whites (and other minorities) on a range of moral and cultural issues, including abortion, gay rights, and women’s role in society.”

Professor Gay is also affiliated with <a href="https://inequalityinamerica.fas.harvard.edu/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Harvard’s Inequality in America program</a> – “a multidisciplinary effort to elevate and energize teaching and research on social and economic inequality and to use what we learn to inform the public debate and public response to these challenges.” 

<a href="https://www.thecrimson.com/article/2022/4/8/gay-thrilled-taeku-hire/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Harvard Crimson</a> featured Gay’s enthusiasm for expanding the school’s ethnic studies program as she welcomed a new faculty recruit. The article says, “Following more than four decades of lobbying by Harvard students and alumni for an ethnic studies concentration, Gay launched a search for faculty specializing in Asian American, Latinx, and Muslim studies in June 2019.”

Dr. Robin Ely is the Diane Doerge Wilson <a href="https://www.hbs.edu/faculty/Pages/profile.aspx?facId=7287" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Professor of Business Administration and faculty chair</a> of the Harvard Business School’s (HBS) Race, Gender, and Equity Initiative. Ely’s research focuses on race and gender relations with a focus on leadership, identity, and organizational culture change.

A <a href="https://www.hbs.edu/news/releases/Pages/race-gender-equity-initiative.aspx" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Harvard Newsroom press release</a> described the initiative as “both a renaming of the Gender Initiative and a reflection of work done to understand…racial equality in organizations and business…”

Dr. Ely said, “Our faculty pursue research in a wide range of fields related to equity, creating knowledge that helps leaders drive change in their organizations and the world,” according to Harvard Newsroom.

The article concludes by stating, “When African-American women are underrepresented in an organization’s senior leadership roles despite robust academic credentials and work experience, their struggles often suggest a broader problem: a workplace that fails to offer every employee equal access to opportunities for growth.”

In a 2018 symposium, Race, Work &amp; Leadership: Learning About &amp; From Black Experience, Ely said, “[I] take an intersectional approach with the Gender Initiative…I think this is where the energy in the world is right now…gender really shape[s] the lives and livelihoods of people and also our workplaces.”

<a href="https://hrp.law.harvard.edu/faculty/susan-farbstein/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Susan Farbstein is a Clinical Professor at Harvard Law School</a> (HLS) and the Director of the International Human Rights Clinic. Her work and research focus on human rights in South Africa and socio-economic rights and racial justice in the United States. She has also served as a human rights attorney for South African Apartheid Litigation and other “transitional justice” cases.

In 2017, Farbstein gave <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RlU7yaWoCjs" target="_blank" rel="noopener">an informal talk to male and female HLS students</a>. She opened the meeting by stating she was “happy to celebrate and acknowledge all [they] had achieved as women while being mindful of the many ongoing struggles [for equality] across all spheres – political, economic, social, and cultural in the U.S. and around the world.”

She also said, “We know and feel the many ways that women are under attack,” while acknowledging the women sitting in the room were “comparatively privileged.”

<a href="https://hls.harvard.edu/today/harvard-law-celebrates-women-inspiring-change/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Harvard Law Today reported</a> that Farbstein received recognition during an International Women’s Day celebration in 2018. She received recognition alongside “the creator of the ‘Me Too’’ movement, the first openly transgender woman of color elected to public office in the United States,” and women’s advocates from the Middle East.

Martin Nowak is a <a href="https://oeb.harvard.edu/people/martin-nowak" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Professor of Mathematics and Biology at Harvard University.</a> His university profile says he “works on the mathematical description of evolutionary processes” including research on HIV, HBV, and cancer treatment.

In 2021, Nowak was censured by <a href="https://www.professorwatchlist.org/professor/claudinegay" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Claudine Gay</a>, dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences after it was revealed that he had connections to Jeffrey Epstein, a sex trafficker who allegedly committed suicide while awaiting trial in 2019.

<a href="https://www.harvardmagazine.com/2021/03/martin-nowak-sanctioned-for-jeffrey-epstein-involvement" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Harvard Magazine said</a>, “In an email sent to faculty members, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows in the department of mathematics and organismic and evolutionary biology…Gay announced disciplinary actions against Nowak…stemming from his connections to sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.”

Harvard Magazine continued, “[B]etween 1998 and 2008, Epstein made gifts of $6.5 million to the Program of Evolutionary Dynamics, which was run by Nowak.” Despite Gay initially announcing Nowak would no longer hold his positions at Harvard, it was later confirmed that he would “remain on the faculty of the mathematics department, but Gay listed two-year limits that would be placed on his advising and research activities.”

<a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/harvard-punishes-professor-who-had-ties-jeffrey-epstein-n1262187" target="_blank" rel="noopener">NBC News reported</a> that Nowak “gave Epstein ‘unrestricted’ access to campus…[and] an office in Nowak’s campus research center, along with a building key card, and allowed Epstein to visit even after [his] 2008 sex crimes conviction.”

Yanilda Gonzalez is the <a href="https://www.hks.harvard.edu/faculty/yanilda-gonzalez" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Assistant Professor of Public Policy at the Harvard Kennedy School</a>. She teaches Politics and Ethics in Unstable Times, as well as Policing, Citizenship, and Inequality in Comparative Perspective. Both courses offer guidance for analyzing systemic inequalities and injustice in American society.

According to her university profile, Professor Gonzalez focuses her research on “policing, state violence, and citizenship in democracy, examining how race, class, and other forms of inequality shape these processes.” She has also published several scholarly articles and one book titled “<a href="https://www.google.com/books/edition/Authoritarian_Police_in_Democracy/afwAEAAAQBAJ?hl=en&amp;gbpv=1&amp;dq=authoritarian+police+in+democracy&amp;printsec=frontcover" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Authoritarian Police in Democracy: Contested Security in Latin America</a>.”

The book explores why “police forces are at the center of social unrest and debates about democracy and rule of law [and] the persistence of authoritarian policing in Latin America to explain why police violence and malfeasance remain pervasive decades after democratization.”

In a <a href="https://youtu.be/CkGBLBCHaXM" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Harvard Kennedy School video discussion</a> of her book, Gonzalez said her inspiration for the publication started when she was a “young and impressionable college student who was starting to learn about democracy as a political science major.” After witnessing alleged human rights abuses during 9/11, working for the <a href="https://www.nyclu.org/en/publications/forces-against-progress-are-gathering-new-york-must-lead-way-forward">New York Civil Liberties Union (NYCLU)</a>, and studying post-dictatorship policing in South America, Gonzalez came to wonder “how can democratic systems perpetuate authoritarian practices.”

The NYCLU’s is a non-profit organization that focuses on racial justice, voting reform, transgender rights, and the rights of incarcerated people. The group’s legislative goals include lowering incarceration rates among Blacks by decriminalizing minor drug possession and eliminating “taxes on poverty” — these are court fees and fines collected by local governments as a “major source of funding.”

Ossom was featured in a 2020 Harvard Law Today article titled “<a href="https://hls.harvard.edu/today/event-series-explores-racial-justice-and-human-rights/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Event Series Explores Racial Justice and Human Rights</a>.” She hosted a series of talks “between students, scholars, and practitioners on the role that race plays both in the practice and substance of international human rights work.” When asked what inspired her to convene the event series, Ossom said,

“The series is inspired most directly by the ongoing discussions about systemic racism that have accompanied protests for racial justice around the world…Observations about human rights practice can spark ideas that lead to great legal scholarship.”

In the wake of the high-profile deaths of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and George Floyd, Ossom co-authored <a href="https://deliverypdf.ssrn.com/delivery.php?ID=229087098105069064000019124018110099098073020038068011091083024111002018074073066027060118002034019104038016068000078089071026020039005023014121118068002073064111119010065042002003091113006102093092118006112003102116125029086103080105100088068072110090&amp;EXT=pdf&amp;INDEX=TRUE" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Toward an Antiracist Clinical Community, Pedagogy, &amp; Practice</a>. The research paper “is intended to serve that goal [of antiracist work], turning the focus inward to interrogate how the status quo of a clinic’s structure, practices, and teaching methods might contribute to racial inequities in the learning environment and legal field.”

During a <a href="https://youtu.be/zRG0pQ_pzio" target="_blank" rel="noopener">virtual discussion</a>, “Human Rights, Civil Rights, and the Struggle for Racial Justice,” Ossom joined a panel of social justice activists to discuss the legacy of slavery, race violence, and police brutality. Ossom primarily served as the moderator but joined the conversation to share thoughts on the “defund the police” movement:

“I’m also hearing, too, that issues of trust aren’t just issues of trust for the police. They’re also issues of trust for systems of education, nutritional security, water and sanitation, [and] in other systems...But I should also point out that there’s also distrust among other institutions because of the fact that they failed to provide for Black American communities.

John Comaroff is the Hugh K. Foster <a href="https://anthropology.fas.harvard.edu/people/john-comaroff" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Professor of African and African-American Studies and Anthropology</a> at Harvard University. His teaching and research interests include crime, policing, and democracy in postcolonial politics. 

In June 2022, Comaroff was <a href="https://www.thecrimson.com/article/2022/6/29/comaroff-amended-complaint/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">featured in The Harvard Crimson</a> as an alleged perpetrator of sexual assault crimes on campus. The Crimson said, “Comaroff is facing new allegations of sexual harassment in an <a href="https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.mad.242149/gov.uscourts.mad.242149.35.0.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">amended lawsuit</a> that includes accounts of unwanted touching, kissing, and sexual remarks during his three decades as a faculty member at the University of Chicago, where he allegedly engaged in multiple sexual relationships with students.”

When accusations resulted in a lawsuit against the college, Comaroff was placed on unpaid administrative leave in January. Comaroff’s colleagues immediately rallied in support with nearly 40 faculty and staff adding signatures to <a href="https://s3.amazonaws.com/media.thecrimson.com/pdf/2022/02/04/1353924.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">an open letter</a>. The letter states:

“Harvard’s Office of Dispute Resolution (ODR) found that Comaroff had ‘engaged in verbal conduct that violated the FAS Sexual and Gender-Based Harassment Policy and the FAS Profesional Conduct Policy. Although Comaroff had been accused by three students, only one allegation was found by Harvard's ODR to have any merit.”

“We the undersigned know John Comaroff to be an excellent colleague, advisor and committed university citizen who has for five decades trained and advised hundreds of Ph.D. students of diverse backgrounds…We are dismayed by Harvard’s sanctions against him and concerned about its effects on our ability to advise our own students.”

By February 10 — when details of the lawsuit became public — the <a href="https://www.thecrimson.com/article/2022/2/10/comaroff-faculty-letter-retraction/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Crimson reported</a>, “Almost all of the Harvard professors who signed an open letter that questioned the results of misconduct investigations into professor Comaroff have retracted their support.” In turn, “some of Harvard’s most prominent scholars signed a letter of retraction” and one sent an email to recant their support.

According to the <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/education/2022/02/10/harvard-sexual-misconduct-comaroff/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Washinton Post</a>, “The reversal came after three Harvard graduate students filed a lawsuit accusing the university of ignoring sexual harassment allegations against Comaroff…Attorneys for Comaroff said he categorically denies ever harassing or retaliating against any student…The lawsuit characterized Harvard’s response to complaints as ‘deliberate indifference…’”

As of September, Comaroff was <a href="https://www.insidehighered.com/news/2022/09/09/accused-harasser-john-comaroff-returns-harvard" target="_blank" rel="noopener">removed from administrative leave</a> and allowed back in the classroom. The lawsuit against Harvard and Comaroff is ongoing.

Sandra Susan Smith is the <a href="https://www.hks.harvard.edu/faculty/sandra-susan-smith" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Daniel and Florence Guggenheim Professor of Criminal Justice</a> and Faculty Director for the Program in Criminal Justice Policy and Management at Harvard Kennedy School. Part of her research interests is focused on racial inequality in pretrial detention and diversion. Smith believes criminal offenders — particularly those in black communities — who are monitored electronically incur unfavorable psychological, social, and economic injuries.

<a href="https://www.cdcr.ca.gov/parole/electronic-monitoring/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Electronic monitoring (EM)</a> is an incarceration alternative that allows pretrial offenders to avoid bail payments or extra time behind bars while awaiting court hearings.

Harvard Kennedy School published an article featuring Smith titled <a href="https://www.hks.harvard.edu/faculty-research/policy-topics/fairness-justice/san-francisco-has-fewer-pretrial-detainees-jail" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“San Francisco has few pretrial detainees in jail. But at what cost?”</a> Smith’s research into pretrial detainees revealed that “more than 40% were black, despite black people making up only about 5% of San Francisco’s population.” In the article, Smith argues:

“Reforms like pretrial EM, while presumably meant as a move toward lower incarceration, end up trapping participants in cycles of interaction with the criminal legal system even before they’ve been convicted of a crime. EM, like incarceration itself, reproduces inequalities by race and class and prevents participants from becoming full members of society.”

Essentially, Smith advocates that the mental health of offenders who are monitored is a greater risk than the probability of them committing further crimes while awaiting trial. She “hopes that as reforms continue to happen in the criminal justice system…and that San Francisco will substantially scale back its use of pretrial EM,” according to Harvard Kennedy School.

Smith teaches Section A: Exploring Institutions and Modes of Racial Domination of a course called “<a href="https://www.hks.harvard.edu/courses/race-and-racism-public-policies-practices-and-perspectives" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Race and Racism in Public Policies, Practices, and Perspectives</a>.” The section description says, 

“This module…[examines] power and oppression in the contemporary American context. We will explore key theoretical and empirical insights from the social sciences to highlight the role of institutions of racial domination have played in producing durable racial hierarchies…”

Cornell Williams Brooks — a former head of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) — is the Hauser Professor of the Practice of Nonprofit Organizations and Professor of the Practice of Public Leadership and Social Justice. 

His <a href="https://www.hks.harvard.edu/faculty/cornell-william-brooks" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Harvard Kennedy School profile</a> states he was a visiting professor of social ethics, law, and justice movement at Boston University’s School of Law and School of Theology. On the Gloria Purvis Podcast, Brooks discussed how “black” churches in America should respond to social justice issues. He said the church was “tremendously consequential” in his life and his decision to become a minister.

<a href="https://sacobserver.com/2022/10/the-reparations-debate-continues-as-advocates-push-for-broader-societal-acceptance/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Professor Brooks supports reparations for the descendants of African slaves.</a> In October 2022, Brooks’s thoughts were included in The Observer article titled “The Reparations Debate Continues as Advocates Push for Broader Societal Acceptance.” The article states, “Although African-Americans were purportedly freed by President Abraham Lincoln’s 1863 Emancipation Proclamation, they have never been totally free from being under the boot of white domination and supremacy.”

Brooks told The Observer,

“‘There are a great many studies about harm and repair [that are] [sic]regular and routine…Data suggests that reparations is [sic] commonplace. For example, veteran’s injuries, losing property, bad vaccines and when farmers lose their crops. Reparations is not aberrational but is a customary means of redress.”

In May 2020, Brooks was featured in an NPR publication titled “<a href="https://www.delawarepublic.org/national-headlines/2020-05-31/former-naacp-head-cornell-brooks-blames-derek-chauvin-for-violence-at-protests" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Former NAACP Head Cornell Brooks Blames Derek Chauvin for Violence at Protests.</a>” At the height of the controversy — when netizens and politicians were blaming Antifa and far-left radical extremist groups, Brooks said he thought “the police officer who knelt on Floyd’s neck should be blamed for violent protests, too.”

NPR quoted Brooks saying,

“In these marches and demonstrations, there are anarchists and white supremacists and others who show up…[b]ut to be clear: There would be no protests, there would be no demonstrations, had Derek Chauvin not killed George Floyd.” 

“[Chauvin] should also be charged with looting, with arson, and with sowing the seeds of chaos and dissension in our public. He is an accomplice, he is a co-conspirator [and] a co-participant in the destruction were are experiencing as a country.”

Marks serves as a <a href="https://www.hks.harvard.edu/faculty/zoe-marks" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Lecturer in Public Policy at the Harvard Kennedy School.</a> Her professor profile says her “research and teaching interests focus on the intersection of conflict and political violence.” Her work also explores race, gender, and equality.

She teaches International and Intersectional Approaches to Race and Racism — this is “section C” of a class titled “Race and Racism in Public Policies, Practices, and Perspectives.” The <a href="https://www.hks.harvard.edu/courses/race-and-racism-public-policies-practices-and-perspectives" target="_blank" rel="noopener">course description</a> says, 

“Students will confront legacies and explore key frameworks, from caste to global antiblackness, for understanding and redressing how racism shapes our lives and our world. Each student will build a personal toolkit of intersectional policy analysis skills and concepts…we will work toward concrete policy and advocacy solutions to system racism.”

Zoe Marks is an outspoken supporter of pro-abortion policies, social justice, and women’s rights. In an opinion titled “Breaking the Silence,” she told <a href="https://www.hks.harvard.edu/faculty-research/policy-topics/fairness-justice/roe-v-wade-has-been-overturned-what-does-mean#zoe-marks" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Harvard Kennedy School News</a>,

“The Supreme Court’s decision to let state legislatures control people’s access to abortion care is the latest chapter in a decades-long conversation that most Americans have been reluctant to have…As a historical reference point, it’s useful to remember there is no record of women being discussed at the Constitutional Convention…”

She continued,

“For millions of enslaved women, who were held as property and legally denied bodily autonomy and personhood, sharing knowledge of birth control and abortifacients was a way to claim their sovereignty and resist white capitalist violence.”

Marks co-authored an article titled “<a href="https://www.foreignaffairs.com/articles/china/2022-02-08/women-rights-revenge-patriarchs?check_logged_in=1&amp;utm_medium=promo_email&amp;utm_source=lo_flows&amp;utm_campaign=registered_user_welcome&amp;utm_term=email_1&amp;utm_content=20221101" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Revenge of the Patriarchs: Why Autocrats Fear Women</a>” in which she discusses the role of women throughout world history and politics. From Marks’ perspective, “Countries with authoritarian-leaning leaders, such as Brazil, Hungary, and Poland, have seen the rise of far-right movements that promote traditional gender roles as patriotic while railing against ‘gender ideology.’”

“Even the United States has experienced a slowdown in progress toward gender equity and a rollback of reproductive rights…During his presidency, Donald Trump worked with antifeminist stalwarts…to halt the expansion of women’s rights around the world.”

“And despite the Biden administration’s commitment to gender equity at the national level, Republican-controlled states are attempting to reverse the constitutional right to abortion, which is now more vulnerable than it has been in decades.”

Erica Chenoweth is <a href="https://www.foreignaffairs.com/podcasts/beyond-roe-mutually-reinforcing-nature-misogyny-and-autocracy" target="_blank" rel="noopener">described by Foreign Affairs</a> as “one of the world’s foremost experts on the history of civil resistance, mass movements, and political repression.”

According to her <a href="https://www.hks.harvard.edu/faculty/erica-chenoweth" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Harvard Kennedy School profile</a>, Chenoweth is the Frank Stanton Professor of the First Amendment and a Susan S. and Kenneth L. Wallach Professor at the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Studies.

Chenoweth is an active member of the LGBT+ community who prefers the pronouns “they/them/their.” Her publications include several books and articles focused on civil, “nonviolent resistance.”

In her paper “<a href="https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Erica-Chenoweth/publication/256063007_Terrorism_and_Democracy/links/5d9eb26992851cce3c910876/Terrorism-and-Democracy.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Terrorism and Democracy,</a>” Chenoweth explores links between terrorism and democratic societies. In response to research findings, she states,

“Democracies with low levels of legitimacy, poor human rights practices, intermediate levels of political and economic development, and unresolved conflict among ethnic and political groups experienced the most terrorism.”

As the director of <a href="https://carrcenter.hks.harvard.edu/non-violent-social-movements?_gl=1*1q1l377*_ga*NjQ4MTM2OTgyLjE2NjQ5MDU5MTg.*_ga_72NC9RC7VN*MTY2NzM0NDUzOS43LjEuMTY2NzM0NDU0Ni4wLjAuMA.." target="_blank" rel="noopener">Harvard’s Nonviolent Action Lab</a>, Chenoweth leads a cause that “produces and disseminates up-to-date knowledge on nonviolent action, how it works, and global trends in success and failure.” In 2020, the Lab featured an article she co-authored titled “<a href="https://www.spokesman.com/stories/2020/oct/20/erica-chenoweth-and-jeremy-pressman-black-lives-ma/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Black Lives Matter protesters were overwhelming peaceful, our research finds.</a>” She defends the “mostly peaceful protests” narrative and cites data from a Homeland Threat Assessment:

“[T]he report misleadingly added that there had been ‘over 100 days of violence destruction in our cities,’ referring to the anti-racism uprisings this past summer. In fact, Black Lives Matter uprisings were remarkably nonviolent.”

“Only 3.7% of the protests involved property damage or vandalism…our data suggest that 96.3% of events involved no property damage or police injuries, and in 97.7% of events, no injuries were reported among participants, bystanders or police.”

<a href="https://aaas.fas.harvard.edu/people/jesse-mccarthy" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Jesse McCarthy</a> is an Assistant Professor of English as well as a Professor of African and African American Studies at Harvard University. His interests include African American Literature, Modernism, and Feminist, Gender and Sexuality Studies.

McCarthy authored a collection of essays entitled “<a href="https://www.amazon.com/Who-Will-Pay-Reparations-Soul-ebook/dp/B08D1K6354/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=who+will+pay+reparations+on+my+soul+essays&amp;qid=1668008114&amp;sprefix=who+will+pay%2Caps%2C279&amp;sr=8-1&amp;asin=B08D1K6354&amp;revisionId=5b7726f8&amp;format=1&amp;depth=1" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Who Will Pay Reparations on My Soul?</a>” in which he argues “for the central role of art and intellection culture in an age of widening inequality and moral crisis,” according to the publisher’s summary. In his introduction, A Note on Style and Usage, McCarthy says,

“Pride in culture and rooted history have always been important to our struggles. Historically, W.E.B. Du Bois and others fought to have the word ‘Negro’ capitalized for this very reason. In that case, ‘the Negro’ became a demonym specifically denoting US racial blackness. The word ‘Negro’...reflects and will always be associated with the history of black Americans under the racial regime of Jim Crow.”

When <a href="https://news.harvard.edu/gazette/story/2021/06/jesse-mccarthy-discusses-his-new-essay-collection/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Harvard Gazette asked McCarthy</a>, “Where does the title of the collection come from?”, he said, 

“The title is an homage to Gil Scott-Heron…a writer, a poet, and a musician who used his art as a vehicle for ideas and politics and critical thinking…I’m more interested in asking and provoking questions than providing answers.”

He continued,

“This isn’t a prescriptive book — you can’t open it and find an answer to the question of reparations for racial injustice in America or anywhere else. But hopefully, you can open the book and it will provoke you to think about those problems in new ways and raise a bunch of new ones too.”

In 2021, The New York Times <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2021/03/26/books/review/jesse-mccarthy-who-will-pay-reparations-on-my-soul.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">featured McCarthy discussing his collection of essays</a> in an article titled To This Essayist and Cultural Critic, the Black Tradition is Resistance. Regarding McCarthy’s target audience for the book, the commentary says, “Some potential readership came of age in the period bookended by the police killings of Michale Brown, in 2014, and both Breonna Taylor and George Floyd, in 2020 — the same period during which McCarthy wrote the essays…”

The New York Times continued, “[McCarthy] mainly hopes to convey ‘the basic premise that nothing is outside our purview, that there are no limits to the ideas, realms of knowledge, creative traditions or political histories that we can lay claim to and incorporate…[McCarthy] convincing explained [his] personal decision to resist the trend of capitalizing ‘Black’ in reference to the community to which he happens to belong.”

<a href="https://scholar.harvard.edu/bobo" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Lawrence D. Bobo</a> is the Dean of Social Science and the W.E.B. Du Bois Professor of the Social Sciences at Harvard University. His faculty profile also says he served as the Chair of the Department of African and African-American Studies, and his research focuses on the “intersection of social psychology, social inequality, politics, and race.”

In June 2020, <a href="https://news.harvard.edu/gazette/story/2020/06/lawrence-d-bobo-examines-police-killings-of-black-men/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Harvard Gazette published a Q &amp; A</a> titled “The Fire This Time.” The subheading says, “[Bobo] dissects police killings of Black men and the history and cognitive forces behind racial bigotry and violence, and why he sees signs of hope.”

The Gazette asked, “In the majority of police-related killings of Black people, the assailants are white. Is that enough to conclude that racism is the cause, or are their other causes also at work?” Bobo responded,

“Certainly racism, and both the historic legacy of racism and the long, deeply etched legacy of racism in terms of our current social conditions and circumstances…have been profoundly distorted by racism.”

He continued,

“It’s really important to recall that what slavery did…was to forge a tight link between our social class structure and a kind of racial hierarchy. It created a bottom rung of people who were racially stigmatized and in the deepest economic disadvantage and poverty.”

Bobo co-authored a book entitled, “<a href="https://www.google.com/books/edition/Racial_Attitudes_in_America/mPOWMEEKpY0C?hl=en&amp;gbpv=1&amp;dq=Racial+Attitudes+in+America&amp;printsec=frontcover" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Racial Attitudes in America: Trends and Interpretations</a>.” Chapter 3: Trends in White Racial Attitudes discusses six questions surrounding trends “of how white racial attitudes changed over the past half-century.” Regarding affirmative action, Bobo et al., stated,

“The first affirmative action steps had been attempts to eliminate what came to be called ‘institutional racism’...A second, more active type of affirmative step was to devote government funds to improving the lives of black Americans…Finally, a third and still more dramatic step was to give preference to blacks in employment and educational situations, as a way of…accelerating the move toward equality of outcomes.” 

Bobo was named among the “Top 10 Black Sociologists from the last 30 Years” in a publication from <a href="https://academicinfluence.com/rankings/people/black-scholars/sociologists" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Academic Influence</a>. Bobo’s profile is dated from 1900-present [sic], ranks him #79,953 “Most Influential Person,” and links to <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lawrence_D._Bobo" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Bob’s Wikipedia page</a>. Harvard’s Department of Sociology issued a “wholehearted endorsement” of <a href="https://sociology.fas.harvard.edu/sites/hwpi.harvard.edu/files/sociology/files/george_floyd_and_our_times.pdf?m=1591301322" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Bobo’s statement on the death of George Floyd</a> in which Bobo said he was “encouraged by the level of mass mobilization and civil protest[s]” that took place across the United States and around the world.

<a href="https://www.hks.harvard.edu/faculty/marcella-alsan" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Marcella Alsan</a> is a Professor of Public Policy and Faculty affiliate in the Department of Economics at Harvard University. <a href="https://scholar.harvard.edu/files/alsan/files/cv_alsan.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">According to her CV</a>, she’s taught in the fields of medicine, health research and policy, and economics since 2013.

From 2021 to 2022, Alsan served on the Committee on Improving the Representation of Women and Underrepresented Minorities in Clinical Trials and Research at NASEM (<a href="https://www.nationalacademies.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine</a>). According to the About page, NASEM is a nonprofit institution that “works to shape sound policies, inform public opinion, and advance the pursuit of science, engineering, and medicine.”

Alsan and her committee <a href="https://www.nationalacademies.org/our-work/improving-the-representation-of-women-and-underrepresented-minorities-in-clinical-trials-and-research#sectionPublications" target="_blank" rel="noopener">published a study</a> that concluded, “While progress has been made with the representation of white women in clinical trials and clinical research, there has been little progress in the last three decades to increase participation of racial and ethnic minority population groups.”

Alsan also co-authored a paper titled “<a href="https://www.nber.org/system/files/working_papers/w24787/w24787.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Does Diversity Matter for Health? Experimental Evidence From Oakland</a>.” Citing previous studies, the introduction says,

“African-American men have the lowest life expectancy of any major demographic group in the United States and live on average 4.5 few years than non-Hispanic white men. Reasons for this disparity are multifactorial and include lack of health insurance, lower socioeconomic status, and structural racism.”

Alsan et al., further state,

“There are several ways in which racial diversity could play a role in medicine, specifically as it relates to the patient-doctor relationship. Taste-based discrimination on the part of the patient or doctor could imply that individuals are averse to interacting with those who do not share their racial background. On the other hand, internalized racism…could lead to the opposite phenomenon…” 

In 2020, Alsan <a href="https://www.hks.harvard.edu/wiener-conference-calls/marcella-alsan" target="_blank" rel="noopener">joined a Weiner Conference Call</a> to talk about the “economics of infectious diseases” where she discussed the Covid-19 virus, vaccines, and some research conducted by Dr. Anthony Fauci’s — the Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease (NIAID) who was <a href="https://s3.documentcloud.org/documents/20793561/leopold-nih-foia-anthony-fauci-emails.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">exposed for allegedly covering up origins of the Covid-19 pandemic</a>.

During the questions section, the moderator asked on behalf of a student, “‘Very open the terms ‘minorities’ and ‘marginalized communities’ are used interchangeably…During Covid-19, has it been important or relevant to make a distinction between the two groups from a policy point of view?’” 

Alsan gave a hesitant, incoherent response, “I think what…I work mostly in the United States and I think it’s important to think about who is historically disadvantaged, and, um, who might need…who [is] particularly vulnerable. Because simply being less than the majority doesn’t necessarily mean that you’ll be equally vulnerable.”

On October 17, 2022, the National Academy of Medicine <a href="https://nam.edu/national-academy-of-medicine-elects-100-new-members-2022/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced Aslan as a newly elected member</a>. The announcement says she was elected for “her scholarly insights on understanding the origins of medical mistrust and the role it plays in understanding health disparities. Her work has shaped policy in addressing disparities…and improving messaging in reaching historically marginalized and vulnerable populations.”

<a href="https://oge.harvard.edu/people/shirley-greene" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. Shirley Greene</a> is the Associate Dean of Students at the Harvard Extension School. She’s also a member of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences - <a href="https://edib.harvard.edu/DCE" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Division of Continuing Education</a>. Her profile says she’s “dedicated to furthering diversity, inclusion, and belonging” at Harvard.

Dr. Greene’s primary role is the Title IX Resources Coordinator — a position that gives her unrestricted access to all complaints of sexual discrimination, as well as reports of retaliation or system issues that may continually raise once complaints are processed.

Dr. Greene is an affiliate and ally of Harvard’s <a href="https://oge.harvard.edu/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Office for Gender Equity (OGE)</a>. The organization provides “professional training” to recognize, report, investigate and appeal sexual misconduct. The About page states, 

“The [OGE] empowers and supports the Harvard community to advance a climate of gender equity and inclusion through evidence-based educational initiatives, excellence in research and practice, and delivery of direct services.”

In a video titled “<a href="https://youtu.be/yCb5bUnfzMI" target="_blank" rel="noopener">A Brief History of Juneteenth,</a>” Dr. Greene begins her talk by asking, “What does Juneteenth mean to you?” She follows up by giving her interpretation of the holiday and says,’

“Juneteenth marks the day slavery officially ended in the United States on June 19, 1865. President Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation promised freedom to enslaved people in the Confederate states on January 1, 1863, following the four-year Civil War.”

She continued,

“However, it was a full two and half years before all states were compelled to honor this executive order, effectively freeing the 250,000 people still being held under slavery in Texas. We join you in giving this holiday the national recognition it deserves, while acknowledging that many members of the African-American community continue to struggle for the dignity, access, equality, equity, and inclusion that was envisioned by the Emancipation Proclamation.”

<a href="https://hls.harvard.edu/faculty/crystal-s-yang/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Crystal S. Yang</a> holds a Ph.D. in Economics and is the Bennett Professor of Law at Harvard Law School. Her areas of interest include civil rights, law and equity, poverty law and economic justice.

Yang’s faculty appointment was announced in a 2019 article from <a href="https://hls.harvard.edu/today/crystal-yang-13-named-professor-of-law-at-harvard-law-school/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Harvard Law Today</a>. The report says,

“Yang’s recent empirical projects focus on the effects of the bail system on defendants’ short and long-term outcomes, racial bias in the criminal justice system, the spillover effects of deportation fear, and the use of algorithms in the criminal justice system.”

Yang co-authored a study titled “<a href="https://academic.oup.com/qje/article-abstract/133/4/1885/5025665?redirectedFrom=fulltext" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Racial Bias in Bail Decisions</a>.” The abstract states, 

“We motivate our analysis using <a href="https://www.chicagobooth.edu/review/how-gary-becker-saw-the-scourge-of-discrimination" target="_blank" rel="noopener">[Gary] Becker’s model of racial bias</a>, which predicts that rates of pretrial misconduct will be identical for marginal white and marginal black defendants if bail judges are racially unbiased. In contrast, marginal white defendants will have higher rates of misconduct than marginal black defendants if the bail judges are racially biased…”

Yang et al., continued,

“We find suggestive evidence that racial bias is driven by bail judges relying on inaccurate stereotypes that exaggerate the relative danger of releasing black defendants.”

Yang was also featured in the Winter 2019 issue of Harvard Law Bulletin in an article titled “<a href="https://hls.harvard.edu/today/crystal-yang-an-empirical-approach/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Crystal Yang: An Empirical Approach: Making the Case for Criminal Justice Reform</a>.” The author said, “While pretrial detention is often justified as a crime deterrent, Yang and her colleagues found that it actually has a criminogenic effect.” Yang was credited with researching and developing “tools that judges could use to make more-informed decisions.”

In 2021, <a href="https://www.brookings.edu/bpea-articles/the-economic-costs-of-pretrial-detention/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Brookings reported</a> Yang’s research on bail disparities led her to co-author a study that led to the conclusion of how “reducing pre-trial detention…would generate significant economic returns for accused individuals…their families and communities.”

<a href="https://clinic.cyber.harvard.edu/bio/alejandra-caraballo/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Alejandra Caraballo</a> is a Clinical Instructor at Harvard Law School’s (HLS) Cyberlaw clinic. Caraballo is a transwoman — a biological male at birth who identifies as female — and prefers feminine pronouns. His Harvard University profile says,

“Alejandra previously served as the Secretary of the LGBTQ Rights Committee of the New York City Bar Association and was appointed as the first openly trans community board member in Brooklyn. Alejandra's areas of interest include the intersection of technology and disability rights, [prostitution], and the implications of quantum computing on encryption.”

In July 2022, <a href="https://campusreform.org/article?id=19822" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Campus Reform featured Caraballo</a> in a piece titled “Harvard Law instructor: ‘It is our civic duty to accost’ the ‘6 justices who overturned Roe.’” The article cites several Twitter posts, most of which are no longer available on his public profile:

Harvard Law said, 

“Both instructors, who identify as Latina…are excited to start a new chapter at Harvard after dedicating years to LGBTQ+ legal and advocacy work. They are also both familiar with the unique pressure and emotional weight of their presence in the legal field — where systematic hurdles still block trans people from entry…”

Harvard Law continued,

“Requirements when taking the bar in some states…only allow applicants to be addressed with ‘Mr.’ or ‘Ms’ honorifics...The depth of details that students need to disclose before taking a bar exam…has historically ‘been a problem for trans people who wanted to break into the law...You’re essentially forced to out yourself to a bar committee,’ [Caraballo] said.”

<a href="https://hls.harvard.edu/faculty/diane-l-rosenfeld/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Diane Rosenfeld</a> is a Lecturer on Law at Harvard Law School.

Rosenfeld teaches a course titled <a href="https://hls.harvard.edu/courses/bonobo-sisterhood/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Bonobo Sisterhood</a>. A description for the class promises to explore “the power and potential of female alliances to disrupt patriarchal systems.” 

She has also written a book titled, “<a href="https://www.amazon.com/Bonobo-Sisterhood-Revolution-Through-Alliance/dp/0063085070" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Bonobo Sisterhood Revolution Through Female Alliance</a>.” The description states that Rosenfeld will “harness the power of the #MeToo movement into a road map for sex equality” by analyzing the social relations of bonobo monkeys.

In the book, <a href="https://msmagazine.com/2022/10/19/diane-rosenfeld-bonobo-sisterhood-female-alliance-patriarchy/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">she writes</a>, “Racism and sexism go hand in hand…Each is based on white male supremacy and reflects a foundation in law authored by and judged over by, overwhelmingly, white men. White supremacist patriarchy places white men above everyone else.” 

Rosenfeld <a href="https://msmagazine.com/2022/10/20/bonobo-sisterhood-primate-ancestors-patriarchy-diane-rosenfeld/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">claims these monkeys have no patriarchal roles</a>, “Evolutionarily, they have eliminated male sexual coercion.” Rosenfeld states, “A new idea of the bonobo sisterhood is to think about equality among women, not measuring our equality solely in relation to men.” 

She states that “Bonobos offer us a model for female sexuality outside of patriarchy,” but claims it will only work if “<a href="https://msmagazine.com/2022/10/19/diane-rosenfeld-bonobo-sisterhood-female-alliance-patriarchy/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">white women get on board</a>.” Rosenfeld hopes to “let men know that stepping outside the harmful tropes of masculinity will be liberating and better for all.” 

Rosenfeld continues, “This calls for a serious reckoning—especially among white women—about racism and white supremacy. My hope is that this can contribute to a huge leap forward for humankind.”

Former CNN correspondent Brian Stelter is the <a href="https://shorensteincenter.org/programs/fellowships/walter-shorenstein-media-democracy-fellowship/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Walter Shorenstein Media &amp; Democracy Fellow</a> at the Harvard Kennedy School. Stelter joined the university’s Center on Media, Politics, and Public Policy in the Fall of 2022. Details of Stelter's position were featured in a <a href="https://shorensteincenter.org/stelter-shorenstein-fellow/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Harvard press release</a>:

“As the Walter Shorenstein Fellow, Stelter will convene a series of discussions about threats to democracy and the range of potential responses from the news media. These discussions with media leaders, policymakers…and faculty will help deepen public and scholarly understanding about the current state of the information ecosystem and its impacts on democratic governance.”

Stelter received the Walter Shorenstein appointment shortly after being terminated from his position as the host of CNN’s Reliable Sources (RS). The show ran for 30 years with Stelter at the helm from 2013 until its cancellation in August 2022. According to the <a href="https://www.nationalreview.com/news/harvard-taps-journalism-expert-brian-stelter-for-teaching-gig/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">National Review</a>, "Stelter was let go by CNN after its new chairman and CEO, Chris Licht, took the reins from Jeff Zucker, who encouraged Stelter to make criticism of right-wing media the focus of his show…”

In a video announcing his departure, Stelter said,

“As most of you know, CNN has a new owner. Warner Brothers Discovery is making big changes across the company. And there’s going to be more change all across the company including here at CNN. And I’m sad I won’t be here to cover it.”

He continued,

"This entire hour is a special hour and it's about change. It's about change all across the media world. What's changing, what might change, and what must never change about the accountability function of journalism. You know I love this show, this small but mighty show that punched above its weight for so many years."

In August 2020, Stelter <a href="https://www.google.com/books/edition/Hoax/PKv5DwAAQBAJ?hl=en&amp;gbpv=0" target="_blank" rel="noopener">released a book</a> titled“Hoax: Donald Trump, Fox News, and the Dangerous Distortion of Truth.” Publishers said the novel includes “never before reported details [that expose] the media personalities who, though morally bankrupt, profit outrageously by promoting the President’s propaganda and radicalizing the American right.”

Under the section subheading, The Cult, Stelter wrote,

“The MAGAsphere targeted journalists who pointed out Trump’s falsehoods and flubs. Fox’s truth-tellers faced some of the most vociferous attacks because they were perceived to be turncoats.“

He continued later in the chapter,

“Once unbound from the shackles of truth, Fox’s power came from what it decided to cover — its chosen narratives — and what it decided to ignore. Trump’s immature, erratic, and immoral behavior? His sucking up to Putin? His mingling of presidential business and personal profit? Fox talk shows played dumb and targeted the ‘deep state’ instead.”

<a href="https://ghsm.hms.harvard.edu/faculty-staff/jason-bryan-silverstein" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Jason Silverstein</a> is a Global Health and Social Medicine Lecturer and the Co-Director of Math of Science in Media, Medicine, and Health at Harvard Medical School. In May 2022, one month before the U.S. Supreme Court overturned the 1973 ruling Roe v. Wade, Silverstein submitted a narrative to <a href="https://www.menshealth.com/health/a39970410/abortion-saved-life/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Men’s Health Magazine</a>. The article retells the story of a woman who underwent an abortion procedure that allegedly saved her life. Silverstein introduced the publication by stating, 

“While many states will make exceptions for the life of the mother, medical emergency exceptions are not as clear as they may seem—how close to death does a woman have to be before an abortion is legal isn’t black-and-white…What is clear is that many women are alive today because they could have an abortion…”

The woman that Silverstein wrote to Men’s Health about was experiencing an ectopic pregnancy —a potentially life-threatening condition caused by a fertilized egg growing outside the uterus (i.e. in the fallopian tubes). The abnormality can cause severe internal bleeding and laparoscopic surgery (which usually results in terminating the pregnancy) is often required to successfully treat the issue.

In September of the same year, Men’s Health <a href="https://www.menshealth.com/health/a34044035/covid-19-need-real-lockdown/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">published</a> a Silverstein article with the title, “We Can’t Beat COVID-19 Without a 6-Week Lockdown.” Under the heading, “Why a lockdown is a reasonable move,” Silverstein said,

“By now the evidence is clear: lockdowns work. We know that strict lockdowns worked in China, slowing down how fast the virus spreads. In Wuhanm, the unprecedented 76-day lockdown, in which people were barred [from] leaving the city or their homes for once every three days for food, stopped new infections by two-thirds.”

After praising lockdown policies in Italy, France and New Zealand, he continued,

“The lack of any real lockdown plus patchwork of state policies feels like a strategy designed by the COVID virus itself…Just as cases started to surge in the summer, states decided to relax what orders they had…[B]ecause the first lockdowns were half-assed, now the need for a second may be a death sentence for some small businesses…

The Harvard class…discusses intersex infants in the context of their physical development…The portion of the course that focuses on infants does not cover gender identity or sexual orientation…”

The course description also lists Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) as the main location. Keuroghlian currently works as the <a href="https://www.massgeneral.org/surgery/plastic-surgery/search?Text=alex%20Keuroghlian&amp;Start=1&amp;MaxResults=10&amp;summary=context&amp;MethodName=getglobal&amp;PageNumber=1" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Director</a> of the MGH Psychiatry Gender Identity Program; he’s accepting new patients in his clinic. 

Notably, the hospital encompasses a Transgender <a href="https://www.massgeneral.org/transgender-health-program" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Health</a> Program and a Transgender <a href="https://www.massgeneral.org/surgery/plastic-surgery/treatments-and-services/treatments/transgender-surgical-program" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Surgical</a> Program. Keuroghlian is the Director of the Division of Education and Training at Boston’s Fenway Institute in Boston. <a href="https://fenwayhealth.org/we-must-replace-psychiatric-gatekeeping-with-informed-consent-for-gender-affirming-surgery/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">In a newsletter</a>—titled “We must replace psychiatric gatekeeping with informed consent for gender-affirming surgery”— the organization reflected on gender-affirming surgical protocols: 

“The prior standard requiring assessment of suitability for surgery by a mental health care professional was designed to prevent regret about undergoing surgical procedures [but]...regret for gender-affirming surgical procedures is very rare, and there is no evidence that presurgical mental health screening reduces rates of regret.”

In 2021, Basu <a href="https://www.inquirer.com/opinion/commentary/united-nations-climate-change-report-heat-east-coast-20210810.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">published an opinion editorial titled</a>, “Amid devastating climate report and heat waves coming our way, we need courage.” In the article, Basu said he sympathized with students who described their emotions toward climate change as “doom, fear, hopelessness, and paralysis.”

He stated, “As a doctor, I live with the clear understanding that as climate change bears down upon us, it will continue to threaten my patients’ health…Our planet is in a precarious situation…More importantly, activists worldwide have galvanized attention to climate change.”

According to <a href="https://www.thecrimson.com/article/2023/2/3/hms-climate-curriculum/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Harvard Crimson</a>, "Harvard Medical School voted [in January 2023] to embed climate change into the school’s curriculum…The effort was led by Basu…and a group of students from the HMS organization Students for Environmental Awareness in Medicine."

The Crimson also said, “The curriculum change aims to integrate climate change themes throughout students’ medical school education rather than creating new courses specifically around climate change.”

<a href="https://www.hsph.harvard.edu/sogie/sogie-team/tishelman/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Amy Tishelman</a> is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School (HMS). She’s also the Director of Clinical Research in the Behavioral Health, Endocrinology and Urology Program, and Gender Multispecialty Service at Boston Children’s Hospital.

Tishelman’s HMS profile says she was “selected by the World Association of Transgender Health (WPATH) to be the international lead developing new global standards of care for prepubescent children.”

Tishelman, along with several “transgender specialists,” authored WPATH’s “<a href="https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/pdf/10.1080/26895269.2022.2100644" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Standards of Care for the Health of Transgender and Gender Diverse People, Version 8</a>.” The publication was intended to “provide clinical guidelines for health professionals to assist transsexual, transgender and gender nonconforming people with safe and effective pathways to achieving lasting personal comfort…”

Addressing gender identity in minor patients, Tishelman et al., stated:

“Our understanding of gender identity development in adolescence is continuing to evolve…For some youth, gender identity development appears fixed and is often expressed from a young age, while for others there may be a developmental process that contributes to gender identity development over time.”

The authors’ “Statement of Recommendation”  for healthcare professionals includes:

 	<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">“...possess a general knowledge of gender diversity across the lifespan.</li>
 	<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">…develop expertise in autism spectrum disorders and other neurodiversity or collaborate with an expert with relevant expertise when working with autistic/neurodivergent, gender-diverse children.</li>
 	<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">...respond supportively to children who desire to be acknowledged as the gender that matches their internal sense of gender identity.”</li>
</ul>
According to Tishelman et al., “At present, no clinical cohort studies have reported on profiles of adolescents who regret their initial decision or detransition after irreversible affirming treatment.”

Tishelman was a panel speaker during WPATH’s <a href="https://www.wpath.org/media/cms/Upcoming%20Conferences/2022/WPATH%202022%20Prospectus%20Final.pdf?_t=1649279057" target="_blank" rel="noopener">27th Scientific Symposium</a> in September 2022. WPATH’s stated goal is to work to “further the understanding of the range of interventions, modalities, medical and surgical gender-affirming treatments” while providing “opportunities for professionals to…communicate with each other in the context of research and treatment of gender incongruence…”

<a href="https://ceps.unh.edu/person/chanda-prescod-weinstein" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. Chanda Prescod-Weinstein</a> is an Assistant Professor of Physics and Astronomy and a Core Faculty Member of the <a href="https://cola.unh.edu/womens-gender-studies" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Women’s and Gender Studies</a> Department at the <a href="https://cola.unh.edu/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">University of New Hampshire</a>.
As a member of the organization, <a href="https://www.particlesforjustice.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Particles for Justice</a>, Dr. Prescod-Weinstein was a primary organizer for the “Strike for Black Lives” in June of 2020.
Particles for Justice is a far-left organization composed of scientists and mathematicians who are <a href="https://www.wired.com/story/physicists-condemn-sexism-through-particles-for-justice/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">dedicated to ending what they allege as “rampant racism and sexism in STEM fields</a>.” The group was first organized in 2018 to protest a lecture by physicist Alessandro Strumia, in which he affirmed that biological differences exist between men and women.
In the Summer of 2020, Dr. Prescod-Weinstein—who identifies as a <a href="https://magazine.scienceforthepeople.org/web-extras/particles-for-justice-racial-justice/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“black queer femme physicist”</a> and an “<a href="https://www.cprescodweinstein.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">activist for equality in science</a>”—and other scientists organized the strike among academics in solidarity with the <a href="https://m4bl.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Movement for Black Lives</a> (MBL), also referred to as the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement.
According to a <a href="https://thefederalist.com/2020/09/16/study-up-to-95-percent-of-2020-u-s-riots-are-linked-to-black-lives-matter/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">study conducted by the Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project (ACLED)</a>, BLM can be linked to 95% of the riots around the country–notably in Summer 2020 following the death of George Floyd. In an analysis of the study, <a href="https://thefederalist.com/2020/09/16/study-up-to-95-percent-of-2020-u-s-riots-are-linked-to-black-lives-matter/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Federalist</a> found, “of the 633 incidents coded as riots, 88 percent are recorded as involving Black Lives Matter Activists.” The resulting riots were the largest in American history, <a href="https://fee.org/articles/george-floyd-riots-caused-record-setting-2-billion-in-damage-new-report-says-here-s-why-the-true-cost-is-even-higher/#:~:text=Only%20now%20are%20we%20beginning,%241%20billion%20to%20%242%20billion." target="_blank" rel="noopener">causing an estimated $2 billion in damages and 47 deaths.</a>

In her own personal statement authored for the strike, Dr. Prescod-Weinstein describes her efforts organizing the strike and the ongoing national protests as <a href="https://www.particlesforjustice.org/note" target="_blank" rel="noopener">an attempt to “save her life&#8221; and “the lives of all black people.</a>” She further decries having to conform culturally and professionally to “whiteness,” and urges white people to take up anti-racist work in order to make black people feel more comfortable.

Dr. Finkelhor is known for his research into child sexual abuse and related topics.
Dr. Finkelhor lectures on a wide variety of subjects such as “<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PpangX4UaO4" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Sexual Abuse Prevention</a>,” “<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XsoYh5WF2Yc" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Developmental Victimology</a>,” and more. He also participates in a variety of <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-fViw7Uuxs" target="_blank" rel="noopener">child sexual abuse conferences</a>.
On March 23, 2022 Dr. Finkelhor participated in a webinar discussing the “<a href="https://twitter.com/libsoftiktok/status/1515916310814859264" target="_blank" rel="noopener">elements of voluntary participation</a>” by juveniles involved in sex crimes; saying that when trying to prevent sex crimes against children, it is key to realize that in some cases, it is the children themselves that are “initiating sexual activities with adults.” Dr. Finkelhor also suggested that he believes it is not “effective” to assume that a pedophilic relationship escalates because of a “predatory or criminally inclined adult.”

On June 25, 2020 in a webinar called “<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PpangX4UaO4" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Let&#8217;s Talk About Prevention</a>,” Finkelhor stated that “Another thing about diversity that is very important to recognize is that in spite of the stereotype, most of the adult offenders are not “pedophiles”&#8230; Many are opportunistic and situational and acting on relationships that develop, or opportunities that are made available to them.”  Dr. Finkelhor refers to “offenders” as ambivalent and stresses the importance of differentiating the labels between a pedophile and an offender.

Recently, there have been articles questioning Dr. Finkelhor&#8217;s motives on the subject. <a href="https://thepostmillennial.com/professor-says-minors-can-be-enthusiastically-involved-in-initiating-sexual-activities-with-adults" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Post Millennial</a> reports his statements, “There&#8217;s not good enough research on issues related to maturity with regard to sexual behavior that allows a clear demarcation here.”  He noted that there can be elements of voluntary participation in statutory sex crimes wherein juveniles engage in sex with adults who are at least five years older than they are. Statutory rape, he said, is “much narrower than statutory sex crimes in general.”

<a href="https://cola.unh.edu/person/david-finkelhor" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. David Finkelhor</a> is a Professor of sociology at the University of New Hampshire. <a href="https://www.unh.edu/ccrc/person/david-finkelhor" target="_blank" rel="noopener">According to his university profile</a>, he is the Director of the Crimes against Children Research Center and co-Director of the Family Research Laboratory. Dr. Finkelhor is known for his research into child sexual abuse and related topics.

Dr. Finkelhor lectures on a wide variety of subjects such as “<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PpangX4UaO4" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Sexual Abuse Prevention</a>,” “<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XsoYh5WF2Yc" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Developmental Victimology</a>,” and more. He also participates in a variety of <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-fViw7Uuxs" target="_blank" rel="noopener">child sexual abuse conferences</a>.

On March 23, 2022 Dr. Finkelhor participated in a webinar discussing the “<a href="https://twitter.com/libsoftiktok/status/1515916310814859264" target="_blank" rel="noopener">elements of voluntary participation</a>” by juveniles involved in sex crimes; saying that when trying to prevent sex crimes against children, it is key to realize that in some cases, it is the children themselves that are “initiating sexual activities with adults.” Dr. Finkelhor also suggested that he believes it is not “effective” to assume that a pedophilic relationship escalates because of a “predatory or criminally inclined adult.”

Fair was the subject of a <a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7dAQe1s5ZVka3hXLURodG1WQkU/view">complaint</a> filed by a colleague for “harassment, abuse, hate, and cyberbullying.”  After <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4069936/Georgetown-prof-C-Christine-Fair-went-meltdown-Muslim-ex-colleague-Asra-Q-Nomani-admitted-voting-Donald-Trump.html">Asra Nomani</a>, who is Muslim, said she voted for Trump because of her problems with Obamacare, Fair went on a month-long rant against Nomani, including calling her various insulting names in her native Urdu, claiming Nomani had “pimped” herself out, as well as saying &#8220;F*** you&#8221;.
Fair is also known for her vulgar and carnal tweets directed at conservatives. During the confirmation of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh in the fall of 2018, Fair <a href="https://www.campusreform.org/?ID=11369">launched</a> into a racially tinged tirade on her <a href="https://twitter.com/CChristineFair?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor">Twitter</a> account, accusing Republicans of enabling a rapist and calling for their castration in a series of tweets,
