Margarita Diaz
Quinnipiac University
Margarita Diaz is an Associate Professor of Journalism at Quinnipiac University.
Margarita Diaz spoke out against a Chick-Fil-A truck on campus. According to the Associate Vice President for Public Relations, “A university sorority invited Chick-fil-A onto campus on Monday as part of a fundraiser for a local shelter that supports victims of domestic violence.”
Why does @QuinnipiacU continue to welcome @ChickfilA to campus? This company’s ownership has zealously embraced a homophobic stance. We can do better. @QUChronicle @Q30News @QUJournalism

As a result of her complaint, “The university will schedule conversations to better understand and discuss the student, staff, and faculty concerns related to using Chick-fil-A as a vendor.”
Reportedly, during a meeting concerning diversity and inclusion on campus, the campus President Judy Olian “stood by Diaz and welcomed her opinion.” However, Diaz stated, “President Olian may have missed an opportunity to talk about the need for different culture at our institution and ultimately this is not about Chick-fil-A or any other vendor.” She continues, “It’s about what the university stands for.”
According to News 8, “the fate of Chick-fil-a on Quinnipiac’s campus has still not been determined.”
